Genesis Reveals The Performance Of The New GV60 Magma

The first model in a new performance lineup from Genesis shows off its performance ability.

It began with a number of sporty concept cars all wearing the same vivid, striking, and unmistakable orange color. That color, Magma Orange, would then become the name of a new performance division from Genesis. After a decade on the market, Genesis successfully reshaped the landscape of the luxury car industry, and a new chapter is opening with the introduction of Magma. The GMR-001 hypercar is set to race at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, and Magma also officially has a production model, the GV60 Magma.

The performance variant of Genesis’ all-electric GV60, the new GV60 Magma is a powerful transformation of the electric luxury SUV model and the first example of the Magma twist on the “Athletic Elegance” design principles of the Genesis brand. It goes from 0-60 in under 3.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 164 mph. With 641 horsepower on tap and 583 lb/ft of torque, it’s the fastest electric vehicle from Genesis yet.

A Boost Mode function gives the driver 15 seconds of maximum output, compared to 10 seconds in the standard GV60, and the GV60 Magma features five distinct driving modes, Range Mode, Comfort Mode, Sport Mode, Sprint Mode, and GT Mode. The accelerator pedal was specifically designed with a resistance aimed at ensuring control in all ranges, also lowering fatigue. For everyday driving, lower resistance makes driving easier, while slamming the pedal for sporty driving offers greater resistance and control. With a new production performance model in the GV60 Magma, Genesis is officially bringing Magma thrill to the market and showcasing a new level of potential for its EV lineup.
