Genesis Unveils Sprawling Design Studio in El Segundo, Ca...

Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury arm, has opened a new state-of-the-art Design Studio in California. An 80,000-square-foot (7432 sq.m) creative hub in El Segundo, Los Angeles, this new space will also play a major role in how the future models from the South Korean automaker will look. If you’ve been watching Genesis evolve over the past decade from an offshoot luxury badge to a full-fledged global tour de force, this marks a pivotal moment for the brand.  In ten years, the brand has gone from concept sketches to cars like the flagship G90 sedan and the full-size GV80 SUV, several stunning concepts, and an incoming endurance racecar in the hyperclass, widely applauded for design that fuses Korean minimalism with a global appeal. Now, this studio brings that mission stateside. “Genesis Design California embeds our team directly in the U.S. market, ensuring we design vehicles that truly resonate with North American customers. The investment in this facility and the jobs it is creating are emblematic of our long-term commitment to North America.” - José Muñoz, president & CEO of Genesis. Inside, the facility houses 45 designers, modelers, and digital artists working across production cars, future mobility concepts, and even projects in air mobility and robotics. Together with its studios in Seoul and Frankfurt, the new location completes a 24-hour global workflow where creativity never stops. The building itself reflects Genesis’ philosophy. Calming and wide open spaces lined with soft acoustic felt, outdoor areas inspired by Korean gardens, and a modern tea platform nodding to the brand’s heritage. There’s a clay modeling and 3D printing lab, a CMF studio for color and materials, and open collaboration zones that make creativity a constant process. “At Genesis, design is brand and brand is design. Genesis Design California is the embodiment of this. It embraces our distinctly Korean identity, creating a space that inspires creativity. I cannot wait to see that inspiration come to life in the team’s work.” - Luc Donckerwolke (formerly at Lamborghini), Chief Creative Officer of Genesis. With the El Segundo studio now active, Genesis is positioned to shape its next generation of cars with sharper focus, stronger identity, and the best design talent California has to offer. For Genesis, this investment is about its long-term future and commitment to North America. However, California was a deliberate choice because the region is one of the few global epicenters for automotive creativity.  Major automakers like GM, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Acura, Mazda, Toyota, and several others have long-established presence, with their own design centers, all to stay close to innovation and cultural trends that begin in Southern California before influencing the rest of the world.  Also, just up the road from El Segundo is Pasadena, where you have the Art Center College of Design, a world-renowned institution that has produced some of the most influential automotive designers for decades. For Genesis, it also means access to top talent, collaboration opportunities, and a steady flow of fresh ideas from the next generation of designers. View All Genesis For Sale Images: Genesis

Genesis GV60 Magma Undergoes Final Testing

Genesis approaches the beginning of its new performance division. In recent years, various concept cars from Genesis, one of the newest and most buzzworthy luxury automotive manufacturers on the market, have all shared one thing in common: a striking, deeply saturated orange interior color called Magma. Those concepts, from stunning virtual grand tourers to high-octane variants of Genesis staples and a forward-looking vision at what would become the now-popular GV80 Coupe, all shared the color, which hinted at an upcoming performance division from the brand with the same name. The upcoming Genesis Magma performance division was previewed with a concept version of the Genesis GV60 Magma, a car that was promised to be the first in the Magma lineup. Now, the production version of the GV60 Magma has undergone its final testing ahead of its global premiere as the Genesis brand prepares to celebrate its tenth anniversary. The GV60 Magma has undergone testing in incredibly varied conditions, beginning in the extreme cold of Arjeplog, Sweden in winter, and continuing with extreme heat in California, high altitude in New Zealand, and road and track testing in Genesis’ home, Korea. As Genesis prepares not only to use the Magma nameplate to enter the racing arena with an incredibly ambitious hypercar campaign with sights set on a 24 Hours of Le Mans victory, but also to introduce the Magma brand to the road, the Genesis GV60 Magma’s imminent premiere will be the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Genesis Magma Racing Goes Virtual With A Multi-Million Do...

The new Dynisma simulator costs between $3 and $8 million, depending on the spec. Genesis Magma Racing is stepping things up with the purchase of Dynisma’s DMG-360XY simulator as it gears up for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship the upcoming GMR-001 Hypercar. Developed with Formula 1 DNA, the DMG-360XY is known for ultra-low delays and realistic feedback, allowing the drivers and engineers to safely fine-tune systems before the car even hits the track. With a 16-foot excursion range and unlimited manuverability, it offers a hyper-realistic virtual experience that’ll prove key as the car’s early testing continues throughout the year. Photo: Stephen Fisher / Drew Gibson Photography Pro drivers André Lotterer and Pipo Derani are already putting in laps at Dynisma’s UK facility, focusing on everything from hybrid systems and brake feedback for fine-tuning. Their feedback on the simulator experience so far is that it reacts like the real thing, cutting down the time needed to adjust to tech and helping validate performance parameters quickly. The simulator is also helping the team evaluate software that would normally take multiple track days to dial in, especially with limited testing time before the 2026 season kicks off. Photo: Stephen Fisher / Drew Gibson Photography Genesis Magma plans to install their own DMG-360XY unit at their Le Castellet base by early 2026, integrating it into daily operations for both driver prep and race strategy simulations. With only so many real-world testing days in WEC, this virtual edge could make an actual difference when the team hits the tarmac next season. It’s all about using every tool available and narrowing that performance gap before the GMR-001 even turns a wheel. Technical Director FX Demaison and Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul believe the DMG-360XY gives them one of the best development tools in the business. With a new car, a new team, and a tight schedule, this kind of simulation horsepower might just be the edge they need to get ahead. Genesis Explains Its Interior Design Process

Genesis look to the future of luxury where it matters. Of course, looks are an important piece to the puzzle of making an excellent luxury car, and one that Genesis has found, making the young brand a sensation already in the contested arena of luxury vehicle manufacturers. However, where luxury vehicles truly show their prowess is in their interiors, whether that be for their looks, features, materials, craftsmanship, or technology. Genesis succeeds in that field, too, and their Interior Design Chief, Jaeho Oh, about what will influence the future of its cabins. One of the biggest guiding principles of Genesis’ interior design is the Korean philosophy of the “Beauty of White Space,” emphasizing simplicity and elegance. According to Oh, Genesis does, and will continue to emphasize the simplicity of interiors with physical buttons and handcrafted details. In addition, beauty and problem solving combine in Genesis’ interior design, like the stunning crystal sphere in the GV60, which not only serves as a showpiece, but also lets drivers know whether the electric car is on or off without the auditory cue that a combustion engine would provide. While Korean Culture is an important piece to the design philosophy of Genesis, globalization also plays a large role, with design studios in the US, Korea, and Europe working together to create the designs of Genesis interiors. In the future, major influences to the trajectory of the automotive industry like electrification will be taken advantage of in further enhancing the simplistic beauty of interiors for the next generation of Genesis cars, adhering to stunning luxury craftsmanship and The Beauty of White Space. Genesis makes a big step towards realizing its racing dream. Enjoying a meteoric rise within the highly competitive luxury automotive space, Genesis has carved out an admirable niche in an arena full of heritage brands that boast a hundred years of history or more. However, the enviable engineering, elegant style, and sumptuous luxury that Genesis models offer make the manufacturer one of the most popular luxury marques currently on the market. However, Genesis has incredibly ambitious plans for its future. A number of concept cars have envisioned Genesis creating electric flagship SUVs, grand touring coupes and convertibles, and even an off-roader. However, even closer on the horizon is Genesis’ new performance arm, Magma, which is not only set to be headed by a cohort of performance-oriented Genesis models, but also by a racing team that has its sights set on victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Creating a new racing hypercar called the GMR-001, Genesis is preparing to take on the grid at the legendary and incredibly challenging endurance race during its 2026 iteration, and it’s made a milestone step closer to achieving that goal. At Hyundai Motorsport’s Frankfurt, Germany headquarters, the new GMR-001 hypercar’s engine, a twin-turbocharged V8, was successfully fired up for the first time. Genesis Unveils New X Gran Equator Off-Road Concept

Genesis goes off the beaten path with yet another concept. Not even a decade into its existence, Genesis has gone from a newbie to a serious player in the highly competitive and saturated luxury automotive arena. Thanks to a lineup of vehicles that combine luxury-focused engineering, elegant design, sumptuous appointments, and high-tech innovation, Genesis has already established itself as a manufacturer with a known design language and favored staples in the luxury sedan and luxury SUV markets. However, its meteoric rise is still only beginning. With lots on the horizon, Genesis has unveiled a slew of concepts, like a high-performance racing and road car pair as part of Polyphony Digital’s Vision Gran Turismo series for the Gran Turismo racing simulator video game, as well as the Neolun, which envisions a ultra-luxe electric SUV flagship, and the X Gran Convertible and X Gran Coupe that show off G90-based tourers. In addition, a new Magma performance arm from Genesis is forming, with a Le Mans-bound racing hypercar unveiled and the signature Magma orange color decorating a number of performance-oriented Genesis concept cars. Yet still, Genesis has refused to stop there, with yet another new concept vehicle unveiled, this time an off-roader. Called the new Genesis X Gran Equator Concept, the concept SUV combines Genesis’ signature design cues, like lighting designs consisting of two parallel lines, with retrofuturistic shapes and a silhouette that evokes the likes of the original Range Rover. Clean lines and uninterrupted surfaces lend the spotlight to the vehicle’s off-roading features, like 24-inch beadlock wheels and sleek roof rails. Genesis’ luxurious aesthetic prevails, with a long hood and a sloping rear section. Inside, the same inspirations inform the design, with a four-circle display cluster on the dash inspired by vintage cameras, and geometric shapes evoking a retro-inspired aesthetic, with modular storage and swiveling front seats enhancing practicality and a split tailgate as well. The concept, which is not confirmed for production, shows off Genesis’ design potential, and is set to be shown off at the upcoming 2025 New York International Auto Show, and then at Genesis House in New York’s Meatpacking District until the end of July.
