GMC Marks 25 Years of the HUMMER Nameplate With Limited Run EV ICON | 25

Few automotive nameplates have undergone a transformation quite like HUMMER has. Inspired by the military's High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (Humvee) and propelled into the spotlight by the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the first civilian Hummer, later known as the H1, debuted in the early 1990s through AM General. But it was after the purchase of the brand by General Motors in 1999 that it would broaden the appeal with the launch of the H2 in 2002 and subsequently the smaller H3 in 2004, turning HUMMER into one of the defining automotive icons from that era.  Although production ended in 2010, the nameplate returned under GMC in 2020 as an all-electric supertruck, trading V8 power for Ultium batteries, all without abandoning the imposing presence that made it so popular in the first place. Now, GMC is marking 25 years of the HUMMER nameplate with the limited production 2027 HUMMER EV ICON | 25. Making its debut at the 2026 ESPYS in New York City, where GMC returned as the event's Official Vehicle Sponsor, the ICON | 25 features an exclusive exterior finish called "ICON," a modern interpretation of the H2's signature yellow paint, that pairs with a Jet Black interior and a black front approach shield.  Each vehicle also receives serialized instrument panel badging, heritage-inspired graphics within the drive mode interface, and an exclusive commemorative keepsake reserved for owners. The anniversary edition will be available on both Pickup and SUV body styles in 2X and 3X trims.  <- Gallery -> The special edition joins the lineup as a series of updates for the broader 2027 HUMMER EV that are being rolled out. Every Pickup and SUV now features a native North American Charging Standard (NACS) inlet, allowing direct access to Tesla's extensive Supercharger network without an adapter. Bidirectional vehicle-to-home charging also continues to be offered when paired with compatible GM Energy equipment. Elsewhere, the 2027 lineup gains five new exterior shades, including the ICON finish, along with two new 22-inch wheel designs. Existing capability-focused features, including the famous Crab Walk, King Crab rear wheel steering, Air Ride Adaptive Suspension with Extract Mode, Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology, and the removable Infinity Roof, all carry over. Performance remains unchanged at the top of the model range. Equipped with the optional 24 module battery, the HUMMER EV 3X Pickup continues to produce up to 1,160 horsepower and 13,000 pound-feet of torque, with a claimed 0 to 60 mph dash in as little as 2.8 seconds. Production of both the 2027 GMC HUMMER EV and the limited-run HUMMER EV ICON | 25 will begin later this year at GM's Factory ZERO Assembly Center in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan, with pricing and exact production numbers to be announced closer to launch. Review: 2026 GMC Hummer EV Pickup

Opens A Toybox Of Excess On a sleepy country road with no traffic in sight, I come to a stop in the 2026 GMC Hummer EV 3X pickup. I tap the stability control toggle twice to engage Watts to Freedom mode. The center screen brings up a graphic of the pickup on a nighttime runway, a spaceship whir provides a sense of ceremony, and the digital instrument cluster pops up a graphic asking if I want to proceed.  I click ‘yes’ using the toggle on the steering wheel, then have to wait a few seconds as the air suspension lowers the truck by 3.5 inches. The gauge cluster brings up a graphic saying brake harder. I follow dutifully, and the graphic changes to say “Floor it.” I release the brake, a torque meter graphic at the top of the IP indicates I’m using max torque, and 9,000 pounds (or so) of Hummer launches as hard as you’d expect in any supercar. The 0-60 mph sprint flashes by in about three seconds. I’m awestruck, and tempted to yell, “Murica, f-yeah!” Watts to Freedom is one of a full toybox of goodies offered by the Hummer EV pickup. The Hummer was the first of General Motors’ new-generation of electric vehicles, and the company threw every bit of technology they could at it. That technology gives it a good range, immense power, real off-road capability, and a few party tricks to show off to your friends. The power is provided by a trio of electric motors that combine to make a whopping 1,160 horsepower. The power is sudden and strong in Watts to Freedom, and given how much weight it has to propel it’s unexpected. The rest of the time, however, the power is easy to modulate to toddle along in traffic.  My tester has the optional 24-module, 205-kWh battery pack that increases range from 312 to 363 miles. It’s a hefty $9,995 option. It only adds to the Hummer’s weight problem, and you’ll have to decide if the extra range is worth that price. I think not. Despite the reasonable range, the Hummer EV isn’t efficient for an EV. It’s EPA rated at 1.49 miles per kWh, which makes it among the least efficient EVs on the market. Still, its MPGe ratings of 58 city, 46 highway, 52 combined indicate that overall it is about as energy efficient as a Toyota Prius. It can handle a DC fast charge at up to 350 kw, which can take as little as 45 minutes for a full charge, and it comes with a 19.2-kWh onboard charger for faster home charging. The weight also affects the ride and handling, but not as negatively as you’d expect. Rather than the typical pickup ride with a rear end that can bounce around due to low weight, the Hummer’s weight is distributed more evenly front to back, and it sits low. This helps the Hummer EV smooth the road. Its tires absorb impacts well, creating a smooth ride that isn’t nearly as busy as other trucks.  Handling suffers for the weight, but it’s not much different than any other full-size pickup. The Hummer EV pickup has an advanced air suspension with adaptive dampers. With 10.1 inches of standard ground clearance, the Hummer leans notably in corners, but the steering is stable and direct, and this big truck is fairly pleasant to drive.  It also has fantastic off-road capability for its size. The air springs give it a standard ground clearance of 10.6 inches. That can drop 3.5 inches for Watts to Freedom and for an entry/exit height. It can also rise to 16.5 inches for an Extract mode that is meant to help the vehicle to clear rocks or rise out of the muck.  This is all much easier with the available knobby 305/70R18 Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires in the Extreme Off-Road package, but I prefer the ride and handling of the more street-friendly 305/55R22 Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT tires on my tester. The Hummer tends to roll over on the Off-Road package tires, making for very sloppy handling. It’s more composed with the 22s.  The Extreme Off-Road package also includes front and rear locking differentials, skid plates, rear recovery hooks, rocker protectors, and forward and rearward underbody cameras. That all helps the Hummer get through tough terrain, but even without the Off-Road package, the Hummer has some goodies that aid its maneuverability both on-road and off. They’re also pretty neat party tricks that you can use to delight your friends. The most notable of them is Crab Walk. It uses the rear-axle steering to turn the rear wheels in the same direction as the fronts, up to 10 degrees. I gave it a try on a couple of occasions for the novelty. To use it, I come to a stop with the steering wheel straight, then press and hold the 4-Wheel Steer button on the Driver Mode Control dial on the center console. I have to keep it down for a few seconds to trigger the Crabwalk animation on the center screen. From there, it’s just a matter of steering right or left to let the Hummer drive diagonally at up to 20 mph. It’s mostly just a curiosity, but it could come in handy when facing a tight off-road maneuver. King Crab off-road rear steer mode would be even more useful, though. It turns the rear wheels twice as fast as the fronts to swing the rear end, which could be very useful for off-road switchbacks. It’s activated the same way Crab Walk is, except I have to hit the King Crab button, which looks like a crown with crab claws, opposite of the 4-Wheel Steer button. It’s great for shortening the turning radius, which is already short given the rear-axle steering. The Hummer’s cabin doesn’t have the rich materials of a typical six-figure vehicle, but its synthetic leather and other surface materials feel appropriately marine grade. The large screens, an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, give it a high-tech feel as well. Space for five is generous, and the five-foot bed is useful but not as utilitarian as the 6.5- and 8.0-foot beds of gas pickup alternatives. The 2026 Hummer EV starts at $101,090, including a stiff $1,995 destination fee, for a rear-wheel drive, two-motor 2X model. The 3X model I’m driving starts at $107,295 to add the front motor, more power, and Watts to Freedom mode. If you’re going to choose a Hummer EV pickup, the extra money for the 3X model feels worthwhile. It brings not only more power but more toys, and the toys are the main reason to pick this oversized tour de force of electric vehicle technology.  View All Hummer EVs For Sale Images: GMC

2026 GMC HUMMER EV Gets Faster, Smarter, And More Rugged

The new HUMMER EV has arrived! Once a military machine turned luxury suburban status symbol, the Hummer has been through quite the evolution, from gas-guzzling giant to all-electric supertruck. The modern GMC HUMMER EV flipped the script when it debuted, instantly creating a new category as the first fully electric supertruck. For 2026, GMC is continuing to improve the platform with new performance upgrades, fresh software features, and even a Carbon Fiber Edition that sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds. The HUMMER EV is quickly becoming a benchmark in both electric performance and off-road luxury. GMC's exclusive addition for 2026 is the new King Crab mode, a next-level version of the HUMMER EV's already impressive four-wheel steer system. It tightens up maneuverability off-road by turning the rear wheels even more aggressively than the front, which is ideal for navigating tight trails or rock crawling. Owners of 2022 to 2025 HUMMER EV models can expect a software update to unlock it later this year. It's part of GMC's promise to keep the HUMMER evolving long after it leaves the dealership. Of course, the headline-grabber is the Carbon Fiber Edition, the quickest HUMMER EV to date. The limited edition version is available for both Pickup and SUV in 3X trim, which features a massive 24-module battery and unique exterior/interior touches like a Magnus Gray Matte paint job and Velocity Ember interior design. On top of its new look, the Carbon Fiber Edition can transfer energy to other EVs or even power your home when properly equipped. It's loaded with functional extras too, like carbon fiber wheels, a power tonneau cover, and improved Super Cruise with automatic lane changes on mapped routes. The HUMMER's incredible force, 1,160 horsepower and 13,000 lb-ft of torque, is now wrapped in smarter software and better ride quality. Finishing things off, the 2026 HUMMER EV adds new exterior colors, stealthy interior options, and a redesigned infotainment experience with Google Built-In. From trail-blazing features like King Crab mode to luxury-laced editions made for serious collectors, the latest HUMMER EV keeps pushing the envelope. Production kicks off later this year, and while pricing is still under wraps, one thing is clear: the HUMMER's electric future is only getting brighter. Hummer EV x Call Of Duty Collaboration Teased

And we have no idea what it entails, but I'm excited. On September 15, 2022, the Call of Duty: Next showcase will occur. During this live stream event, the future of the video game franchise will be on full display. This includes the multiplayer reveal of Modern Warfare II, information on the future of Warzone, and more that has yet to have been announced. Interestingly, the GMC Twitter account is also involved with this event to some extent. This was made apparent through a tweet that includes a video and the words: "What you never saw coming, is coming. Tune in 9.15.22 to @CallofDuty Next at 1 p.m. ET to see. #NationalVideoGamesDay #CallofDuty #CODNEXT". Attached to the tweet is a video of the new Hummer EV taking off, hinting at the fact that this new electric SUV will be part of the showcase event. As far as what that means, I have no clue. However, they note that whatever it is will be something that we "never saw coming," so that excites me quite a bit. Additionally, the license plate of the Hummer EV in the video has the license plate "MWII." Maybe we will see a Call of Duty edition Hummer EV or perhaps the new SUV will be included in the next iteration of Call of Duty or in Warzone 2. To find out, we will all just have to watch the live stream to see what this all means on September 15. View All Hummer EVs For Sale https://twitter.com/GMC/status/1569415706151731202

GMC Hummer EV Price, Specs, Photos & Review

This is nothing like the Hummer of 20 years ago. Who doesn’t remember the Hummers of the past? A quick pop culture icon, the Hummer always had large stature, bold presence, and icon status that few cars in the 21st century can match. The new GMC Hummer EV maintains all of that, however, it does it without the old Hummer’s many drawbacks. As lovable as it was, the Hummer of the 2000s was often cumbersome, clunky, and of course, comically inefficient. However, the new Hummer EV goes above and beyond fixing those issues and makes another car that is iconic not just as a pop-culture staple, but as an incredible vehicle as well. GMC Hummer EV Price The Hummer has always been a luxury vehicle and a unique one at that. The Hummer EV’s combination of luxury, style, and incredible rugged performance capability is one that’s going to be hard to find in other cars, so don’t expect a GMC Hummer EV for sale to be cheap by any means. The GMC Hummer EV price starts at $108,700, and currently, reservations are available for the pickup truck and SUV body styles of the car. There are plenty of options available for you to customize the Hummer EV exactly to your liking, and of course, those will add to the price. The Hummer EV is a completely new model, so don’t count on finding used examples, but if you’re interested in a pre-owned Hummer EV, stay patient and your dream electric truck or SUV is sure to come onto the market. MUST-READ: GMC Releases Its New Accessory Line For The Hummer EV GMC Hummer EV Review The new Hummer EV is revolutionary, but when you compare it to the rather controversial Hummer lineup we knew before, it gets even better. The Hummer EV continues the Hummer’s DNA of being an attention-commanding, large, and bold vehicle while removing the past Hummer’s woes of an inefficient, impractical powertrain with a larger carbon footprint than the ar itself. With its new electric powertrain, everything changes, and the Hummer EV becomes capable of things that we would have never thought possible, like the fact that the GMC Hummer EV horsepower is as much as 1000 for the pickup truck and 830 for the SUV, and the fact that the GMC Hummer EV review completely lacks the con of emissions from a gasoline engine. The new Hummer EV is the best of both worlds, and when we say best, we mean it. GMC Hummer EV Specs The new GMC Hummer EV specs have quite impressive numbers to show off, and what they translate to is a driving experience that completely defies what we thought Hummer was about before, and a vehicle that is one of the most dynamic, rugged, and capable vehicles available, all with an iconic look to go with. At only 106 mph, the GMC Hummer EV top speed is not putting down hypercar numbers, but where it does put down hypercar numbers is in acceleration. The GMC Hummer EV 0-60 is as little as 3.0 seconds, and with its Watts To Freedom launch control system, the GMC Hummer EV ¼ mile is only 11.7 seconds. GMC Hummer EV Specs Price: $108,700 Engine: Three electric motors Transmission: Direct-drive Horsepower: 830 hp (SUV), 1000 hp (truck) Torque: 11,500 lb/ft 0-60 mph: 3.0 s ¼ mile: 11.7 s Top Speed: 106 mph GMC Hummer EV Engine Needless to say, the GMC Hummer EV engine isn’t really an engine. The powertrain consists of a 212.7-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which provides power for three electric motors: one to drive the front wheels, and two to drive the rear wheels. Altogether, the system is able to provide as much as 1000 horsepower, but that’s far from the only advantage it has over a gasoline counterpart. The lack of an engine under the hood means that you get the bonus of added covered storage space in the front of the vehicle, which can be a serious advantage for truck owners who want to store things that they don’t necessarily want to be in an open bed. Along with that, because of the battery pack’s position at the underside of the vehicle, and the lack of a heavy engine at the front, the weight in the vehicle is distributed harmoniously, and the center of gravity is incredibly low. This is a huge advantage, especially for vehicles like SUVs and trucks, which can maintain their stature and off-roading capabilities while immensely reducing the once-notorious risk they had of flipping over when turned sharply or driven on an angle that is too steep. GMC Hummer EV Interior Ruggedness and luxury were the brief for the GMC Hummer EV interior. Available in two color schemes, dubbed “Lunar Shadow” and “Lunar Horizon.” Both feature beautiful seating surfaces, bronze accents throughout, and vast, intuitive digital displays for infotainment and driving assistance. Super Cruise is also available, which is GM’s semi-autonomous driving system, along with flat-folding seats for storage, a front trunk, and a stunning Infinity Roof which features “sky panels” that can be placed and removed modularly for the perfect open-air experience and panoramic drive. GMC Hummer EV Brakes Brakes are one of the most underrated strengths of electric vehicles. That’s because regenerative braking, a feature only electrified vehicles can have, allows for the friction from the brakes to be converted into electrical energy, which is then used to go back to the car and charge the battery. This innovative technology provides even more efficiency for electric vehicles, and now, it’s being taken further to make driving easier, as well. The GMC Hummer EV Brakes feature the option of One Pedal driving, which automates the regenerative braking and simplifies driving for an easy, luxurious ride. GMC Hummer EV Standout Features The GMC Hummer EV is a vehicle born to dominate the tarmac, and also to be one of the greatest vehicles ever once it strays off the beaten path, to this end, it features incredibly massive 35-inch tires, and similarly massive wheels on both the SUV and pickup models. To maneuver tricky situations both on and off-road, the GMC Hummer EV features Crabwalk, the ability to drive diagonally with 4-wheel steering, and Extract mode, the ability to raise the suspension by 6 inches in tough situations, giving the new Hummer EV more mobility than a Hummer has ever had before. See the Hummer EV's Crab Walk and Watts To Freedom Modes ...

The Crab Walk is insane to see in action. We've known about the new 2022 Hummer EV Pickup for quite some time, but we're now finally able to see it in action. InsideEVs' Tom Moloughney recently went out to GM's Milford, Michigan proving grounds to drive the EV Hummer and see if it lives up to the hype. In the First Drive video up above, you'll see Tom take the Hummer through different courses that showcase its different abilities. There's off-roading, hillclimbing, rockclimbing and so much more to be seen. My two favorite parts had to be seeing the Crab Walk in action and the Watts To Freedom launch mode. While I knew what the Crab Walk system was capable of, seeing the massive EV Hummer drive side-to-side was bizarre to watch. As for the Watts To Freedom launches, it's hard to believe a vehicle that big and heavy can be that quick. Check it all out for yourself in the video up above. All Hummers For Sale

GMC Hummer EV Flexes Off-Road At Moab

Your truck can't do this! Utah is home to some of the toughest trails on Earth. Now that engineers are finalizing their calibrations, the GMC Hummer EV has flexed its abilities at Moab.
