Despite being relatively new to the market, the INEOS Grenadier is not only inspired by classic off-roading icons, but is a highly capable and rugged luxury SUV in its own right, with owners and enthusiasts taking the Grenadier on epic adventures that have showcased its amazing capabilities. The latest was completed by Grenadier owner Becky Kim, who spent 122 days traveling 28,254 miles across 60 different countries.
The adventure started in Kim’s home city, Nairobi, and she set off with her co-driver, Bonnie Koko, in February. Leaving Kenya, the pair traversed through eastern Africa towards South Africa and its legendary Cape Agulhas, before journeying back through western Africa and north through Europe.
Completing the iconic Cape-to-Cape challenge from Cape Agulhas to Norway’s Nordkapp, just part of Becky Kim’s journey was becoming the first woman believed to have driven the Cape-to-Cape. After reaching Nordkapp, the journey’s final destination was London’s Grenadier pub, and Kim made it there in June.
For each country the pair traveled through, a sticker was added to the rear windscreen of the car, and those countries included Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Bulgaria, Greece, Switzerland, Denmark, and many more. The journey saw intense desert heat and Arctic cold alike, with several different climates and terrains in between, and Becky’s INEOS Grenadier Trailmaster was unmodified for the journey.
The SUV’s standard locking differentials were essential to traverse challenging parts of the journey, as were its raised air intake, its BFGoodrich T/A K02 tires, and its BMW-derived diesel powertrain. Designed for extreme adventurers, INEOS Automotive’s support network is strategically deployed along the iconic route, catering to drivers who make these kinds of trips. With impressive capability as an off-roader and a passionate circle of wanderlusting owners, the INEOS Grenadier is quickly building a legacy as one of the world’s favorite off-roading companions.
