Land Rover To Run Factory Defender Team On Dakar Rally Fr...

Land Rover will bring its Defender to compete in the Dakar Rally, one of the world’s toughest off-road endurance events, in 2026. The brand is set to become the 2025 Dakar Rally’s official car partner from 2025, for the 47th edition of the event from 3‑17 January, the first of four years that it will provide a fleet of Defenders as support vehicles. Land Rover will also supply a fleet of six specialized Defender recce cars for the Dakar organization, to test routes for future events.  In addition to that, Land Rover has confirmed its intention to enter a works team in the event, beginning in 2026. Defender’s commitment will “prove its extreme durability and capability in the world’s most demanding off‑road competition.” “Adventure is in the very DNA of the Defender brand, so we are inspired to partner with Dakar – the ultimate motorsport adventure – where competitors truly embrace the impossible,” said Mark Cameron, Defender's Managing Director. “Our partnership begins in 2025 when Defender will showcase its capability and durability as the official car of the event, but we are already looking to the future and entering a Defender Dakar works team from 2026.” Despite being named after the capital city of Senegal in East Africa, the Dakar has been based in Saudi Arabia in recent years. Since 1979, the legendary event started out as the Paris-Dakar Rally – running from France to Africa – but security threats in Mauritania led to it being moved to South America from 2009-2019. Since 2020, it has been run solely inside Saudi Arabia. “Anyone who loves motorsport will have a passion for Dakar,” said JLR’s motorsport managing director James Barclay. “It’s the Everest of motorsport and an event where success is dependent as much on human determination in the toughest of conditions as it is the ultimate test for vehicle and engineering capability.  “Bringing the world's most capable and iconic 4x4 to the world's most iconic rally‑raid is a perfect fit. Our first time ever with a factory entry into the Dakar means we are right at the beginning of our journey.  “We are conscious of how much we have to learn and achieve before taking the start in 2026, but we are already well underway and looking forward to the adventure.” Details about the future rally-raid competition program will be announced during Dakar 2025. A Legacy of Adventure: The Best Vintage Land Rover Defend...

The Land Rover Defender has carved out a legendary reputation over the decades, becoming an icon of adventure and rugged exploration. Originally launched in 1948 as the Land Rover Series I, this no-nonsense 4x4 was built to tackle the toughest terrains, from the wilds of Africa to the remote corners of the Australian Outback. Its utilitarian design, with flat panels and simple mechanicals, made it easy to repair in the field, contributing to its status as a go-to vehicle for explorers and adventurers. The Defender, introduced as its own model in 1983, continued this legacy, with early examples still admired and sought after by enthusiasts who appreciate its blend of simplicity and capability. As time has passed, the market for Land Rover Defender resto-mods has exploded, with many turning to modern upgrades to improve the driving experience while preserving the Defender's iconic looks. These resto-mods often feature powerful new engines, updated interiors, and advanced off-road capabilities, making them as capable on the highway as they are on a rugged trail. Restoration companies have made a name for themselves by delivering bespoke Defenders that combine the vehicle's classic charm with modern-day comfort and performance. Whether it's a vintage Defender brought back to life with a fresh coat of paint and a new powertrain or a fully customized build, these resto-mods continue the Defender's legacy as a vehicle that's as at home in the city as it is in the wild. Today, Land Rover's current generation of Defenders reflects the evolution of the brand, blending its adventurous spirit with modern needs. The latest models have transformed into family-friendly 4x4s, offering ample space and storage for everyday life while still retaining the rugged DNA that made the original Defender a legend. Jaguar Land Rover Reports Sales Stability In Q2 FY25

The second quarter spells stability for Jaguar Land Rover. With its iconic and longstanding lineup of luxury vehicles, Jaguar Land Rover boasts an arsenal of icons in British automotive design. During its second quarter of the 2025 financial year, its solid luxury lineup meant that sales performance has remained stable despite issues regarding the aluminum supply. As the second half of the year continues, Jaguar expects production and wholesale volumes to increase. Compared to the same quarter of last year, Jaguar Land Rover’s 103,108 retail sales represented a three percent decrease globally. However, the number of 214,288 retail sales for the first six months of the financial year represents a three percent increase on last year’s number. Geographically, the UK and the North American markets saw the largest sales increases. Production during the quarter was restricted due to the aluminum supply, reducing it by seven percent to last year’s second quarter. Jaguar Land Rover’s most profitable models, the Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport, and Defender, accounted for 67 percent of the total wholesale volume for the quarter. As Jaguar Land Rover embarks on the second half of its financial year of 2025, its iconic luxury lineup is expected to continue bringing success. View All Land Rovers For Sale

Land Rover Classic Brings Historic British Royal Vehicles...

The late Queen’s Land Rovers graced Pebble Beach. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s reign lasted an incredible 70 years, longer than any other British monarch or female monarch. In that time, various royal vehicles helped serve the Queen’s duties, many of which came from the legendary Land Rover. Known for making some of the world’s most capable and recognizable off-roading machines, Land Rover’s classics are some of the world’s most important adventure-ready masterpieces. In a once-in-a-lifetime display, Land Rover Classic brought a fleet of Royal Land Rover vehicles to the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The fleet, consisting of 10 Defender and Range Rover models, featured vehicles used by the Royal family and the Queen, sourced from the Royal Household private collection, Land Rover Classic, the British Motor Museum, and private collections. Two of the earliest Royal vehicles were part of the incredible display: the first Land Rover Series I State Review vehicle and a Land Rover Series I. Next to the historic display, a British-themed garden party brought immersion to the showcase. The display is not only a historic gathering of royal vehicles but also a celebration of the longstanding relationship between Jaguar Land Rover and the royal family. Recently, His Majesty King Charles III granted Jaguar Land Rover a royal warrant in his initial list of grantees, extending that relationship into the future as Jaguar Land Rover continues to innovate and lead in the luxury automotive world. The New 626HP 2025 Defender Octa Is Land Rover's Most Pow...

Land Rover’s off-road icon goes high-octane. The Land Rover Defender name has been celebrated for decades, earning a sterling reputation for off-road capability and enviably rugged character. The vehicle’s iconic and unmistakable silhouette also bolsters its legendary reputation for adventuring ability. However, Land Rover has unveiled a new twist on the Defender nameplate: the new 2025 Defender Octa, a high-performance take on the Defender promising thrills both on and off-road. Its name is inspired by the octahedral shape of a diamond, and as such, the vehicle’s ethos, according to Land Rover, is also inspired by diamonds, which are known both for their beauty and their toughness. Land Rover deems the new Defender Octa “the toughest, most capable, and most luxurious” model in the Defender lineup. It has a high-performance powertrain, off-road revisions, and more wade depth than any other production Defender. At its heart is a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged mild hybrid V8 engine, good for a robust 626 horsepower and 553 lb/ft of torque, which will sound familiar to anyone who knows about the new Range Rover Sport SV, Range Rover’s performance-focused luxury SUV. In the Defender Octa, the engine rockets the 4x4 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, with a 155-mph top speed. With a 1-inch lift in ride height and a stance widened by nearly 3 inches, the new Defender Octa uses hydraulically interlinked 6D Dynamics suspension technology (for the first time in a Defender) to deliver thrilling and engaging on- and off-road performance. The Octa’s adaptability on different surfaces is demonstrated by its 5 Terrain Response modes, and the vehicle also features a Comfort driving mode, Dynamic mode for on-road performance, and Octa mode for off-road thrills. Setting it apart from other Defenders are details like the largest tires fitted to a production Defender at 33 inches, along with colors like Petra Copper, Carpathian Grey, and Charente Grey. Exclusively for the Defender Octa Edition One is Faroe Green and Chopped carbon fiber trims. A semi-aniline leather interior comes standard, and the Octa is fitted with all-new Performance seats, with Body and Soul Seat audio technology developed in collaboration between Land Rover, SUBPAC, and Coventry University. The new 2025 Defender Octa starts at a price of $152,000, and the 2025 Defender Octa Edition One, which is available through the first year of production, costs $167,800. Representing the new pinnacle of Defender’s off-road performance, the new Defender Octa has power, luxury, and ruggedness all wrapped in one. JLR x Fortescue Sign Multi-Year Partnership For EV Batter...

Jaguar Land Rover brings a new partner along for its electrification journey. Jaguar Land Rover is on the cusp of a monumental transformation as a manufacturer. It is sending off its gasoline-powered vehicles in favor of an electric future, and testing is underway with a waitlist open for the first all-electric Range Rover. Its luxury icons are diving headfirst into the future. While electrification is a daunting task for car manufacturers, Jaguar Land Rover has enlisted a new partner to that end. That partner is Fortescue, and JLR has just signed a multi-year deal with Fortescue to employ its ‘Elysia’ battery intelligence software in its next-generation electric vehicles. Using the software, JLR’s future electric vehicles will feature faster charging, increased range, and greater long-term reliability. The Fortescue Elysia software not only optimizes battery capacity and driving range but also prioritizes battery health, allowing the vehicle to last as long as possible and greater performance for second-life batteries. Together with Fortescue with its Elysia technology, Jaguar Land Rover’s journey towards electrification promises to be even better than it has already been anticipated to be, and vehicles like the upcoming Range Rover Electric, as well as Jaguar’s upcoming line of next-generation EVs, will be better to own and drive as a result.
