Dylan's Artura

Unleashing The Artura: McLaren's Electrified Entry-Level ...

During Arizona Car Week, our dear friends at McLaren Scottsdale gave us the keys to the 2023 McLaren Artura, and it did not disappoint. The Artura is the ultimate entry-level supercar and the first hybrid from McLaren since they introduced the P1. It can tackle everything from daily driving to canyon carving. Let me explain: On Thursday I was handed the keys, given a thorough tutorial on McLaren's updates and changes in the new Artura and then took off to check out our friends at RM Sothebys. Once you get over how many heads turn on the road to ogle its sleek, richly colored body, you are struck by how breathtakingly quick the car is. The 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 is paired to an 8-speed dual-clutch, which directs 671 horsepower to the rear wheels. The power surges in a surprisingly linear fashion for a turbo-charged car and keeps you pinned to the back of your seat until your foot lets off the accelerator. As you hold on for dear life, you’ll notice the superb steering size and grip feel that is pleasantly minimal, eschewing any buttons and knobs. The Artura feels extraordinarily light due to its newly redesigned carbon tub and the fact that it’s only 3,300 pounds. Yet it somehow manages to simultaneously give the driver an extremely planted feel while veering around sharp curves. The daily drivability of the Artura is pretty spectacular. As you swing the door up and get in, you become immersed in the driver-centric cockpit. The driver modes can be adjusted using the two controls on the dash that can be found, directly in front of your right and left hands. The right controls can be moved up and down to adjust to Electric, Comfort, Sport, or Track modes while the left handles the suspension. The other easily accessible button that helps with daily driving is the front lift, which is no longer on a stalk; it's a physical button to the left of the steering wheel. As we commuted between auctions and events, I was able to start up the car in Electric mode, sneak out of the parking garage, and hit the road before hitting the control up twice to switch it into Sport mode in order to enjoy the exhaust note. As you explore the interior of the car more, you realize that the visibility is extraordinarily good: the seating position is perfect, and there is a great amount of both leg and headroom. The user interface took some getting used to––as it would with any new car––but makes sense once you get the hang of it. It’s a very straightforward system that makes adjusting the climate control and media easy when you’re on the move. The McLaren Artura proves to be an all-around incredible supercar with scattered hints of hypercar traits. It exceeds everything you want and need from an entry-level vehicle of this type. Although you may not have enough trunk space, you could use this car on a daily basis and make your day-to-day life exponentially more enjoyable, and a whole lot faster, exactly how it did for me during Arizona Car Week. McLaren adds another partner to its network of American dealerships. McLaren boasts a strong lineup of some of the world’s best supercars, combining luxury, beautiful design, cutting-edge engineering, formidable power, and lightweight construction to create cars that are fast, thrilling, beautiful, and fun to drive. One of the largest markets for these creations is the United States, and as the brand continues to grow, so does its dealer network, with McLaren Americas announcing the establishment of its latest dealer, and the seventh McLaren retail location in California: McLaren Westlake. Part of O’Gara Coach’s prolific group of dealerships in Westlake Village, California, the new McLaren Westlake offers both sales and service for McLaren’s supercars. With McLaren Westlake, O’Gara Coach expands and existing and fruitful partnership with McLaren, with McLaren Beverly Hills and McLaren San Diego already being two successful retail locations, and O’Gara Coach partnering with McLaren on the McLaren Brand Experience Center, located at Wynn Las Vegas. With 7 retail locations in the state, California, as of 2018, is responsible for 26% of McLaren’s United States sales volume, and O’Gara Coach is an integral part of that success, now being responsible for 3 of those locations, and also offering incredible exclusive client experiences, like a private facility the Thermal Club race track in Palm Springs for track days and once-in-a-lifetime drives. McLaren’s new Formula 1 car is revealed and ready to race. McLaren is a manufacturer that, throughout its 60-year history, has been passionate about and dedicated to racing, whether that mean through making supercars that are light, agile, powerful, and built to take on the track, or by engaging in racing efforts through teams that have gone on to define success and excellence in the motorsport world. One of McLaren’s most notable contributions to the racing world is its Formula 1 team, and with the 2024 season on the horizon, the new livery of McLaren’s F1 car for the year has been revealed. Combining black with McLaren’s iconic signature color: Papaya Orange, it sports a classic McLaren look with futuristic details that make the race car look like it’s going at full speed even when it’s standing still. With Google Chrome branding present on the car, one of the most interesting features of the new livery is a special color applied to the aero discs on the wheels: which are split into quarters of red, green, blue, and yellow, which are Google’s signature colors. With a new livery revealed, the McLaren Formula 1 team is ready to hit the grid this year and dominate the upcoming season. McLaren Replaces The GT With The New 2024 GTS

McLaren’s newest supercar evolves an elegant formula. The introduction of the McLaren GT saw the racing-bred manufacturer introduce a take on its supercars that combined McLaren’s driver’s car ethos, impressive performance, and also a sense of luxury, understated style, and everyday usability. The supercar offered a McLaren driving experience with the added bonus of a plush interior and even space for golf clubs. However, the McLaren GT has now been replaced, and the new 2024 McLaren GTS has taken its place. The brief is the same as the GT’s: create a supercar with both McLaren’s incredible driving dynamics and performance and everyday luxury and comfort. However, the GTS features a few improvements upon the GT’s formula, especially in the performance department. It’s more powerful by 14 horsepower, coming in at 626 horsepower, and it’s also lighter by 22 pounds at 3,351, giving it what McLaren says is a class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 414 horsepower per ton. When your foot is to the floor, that means you’ll get from 0-60 in a scant 3.1 seconds, which is especially impressive for a car that fits a set of golf clubs in the back. McLaren’s signature agile character is also present, thanks to intelligent adaptive suspension and standard carbon ceramic brakes, which contribute on both the luxury and performance fronts. When it comes to the GTS’s luxury and style, McLaren ensured that the elegant silhouette of the GT remained relatively unchanged, with a few tweaks to give the new supercar a refreshed look. In addition, a new Lava Grey color option, unique “Turbine” wheel design, and available Softgrain Aniline Leather upholstery with a double-piping pattern and contrast stitching show that when it comes to the creature comfort factor of the new GTS, McLaren made sure to sweat the details. The McLaren GT showed off a slightly softer side to McLaren, combining everyday luxury and comfort with the brand’s irresistible signature driving thrill, and the new 2024 McLaren GTS, which is available to order now with delivery in 2024, aims to do the same, but better. It's safe to say that we may have found McLaren F1's biggest fan. As Formula 1 racing continues its global takeover, captivating a whole new audience, passionate race fans show support for their favorite teams and drivers throughout the season. While most devoted fans invest in a team hat or t-shirt to wear on race day, one McLaren F1 fan decided to take their love for the renowned race team this holiday season with a special home decoration. Instead of flying a McLaren F1 Team flag on the property, the Newport Beach homeowner was able to pull some strings and have Lando Norris' McLaren MCL60 race car craned into the front yard. McLaren took to its Instagram to share a few photos and videos, taken by @z3photos and @gt3sonly, of how the multi-million dollar F1 race car was strategically maneuvered from the alley to the lawn. The McLaren MCL60 quckly went from a #6 ranking with 22 starts this season to the main attraction of a holiday home decoration, making it the ultimate F1 house this Christmas. Proudly displayed next to the sidewalk, overlooking the breathtaking gold coast, bystanders are able to catch a glimpse at Lando Norris' four-wheel office in quite the unfamiliar territory. With McLaren F1 Team's MCL60 racecar now proudly showcased as a holiday ornament, you have to wonder who is trying to call Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 to get Sir Lewis Hamilton's W14 E Performance race car shipped to their home. McLaren Debuts A Bespoke 3-7-59 Racing Livery By MSO For ...

McLaren Automotive has taken bespoke customization to exceptional levels with the launch of the motorsport-inspired 3-7-59 racing livery. Crafted by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), this complex design decorates a special McLaren 750S supercar, revealed by a trio of iconic McLaren drivers. The unveiling took place at the Velocity Invitational at Sonoma Raceway, marking one of the most striking moments in McLaren's 60th-anniversary celebrations. The 3-7-59 Theme, a nod to McLaren's 'Triple Crown' motorsport victories, required over 1200 hours of expert painting by MSO's technicians. This livery is a visual sensation and a storytelling canvas that features more than 20 colors to create its stunning exterior. The six customer cars, all either a 750S coupe or Spider, sold out immediately, each one a unique variation of this detailed theme. The name celebrates the race numbers of the victorious McLarens: '3' from the 1974 Indy 500, '7' from the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix, and '59' from the 1995 Le Mans. The livery is a vibrant collage of these race cars, detailed with illustrations of the vehicles and the races they conquered. The 3-7-59 is a masterclass in automotive painting, featuring a multi-colored key fob, a 'shattered' front livery inspired by the McLaren MP4/2, and sides that pay homage to the Le Mans-winning F1 GTR. Hidden details, including Easter eggs and the evolving McLaren logo, enrich the narrative woven into the car's design. MSO's innovation extends to the supercar's functional components, with a checkered flag effect blending the orange of the Indy 500 winner with the F1 GTR's grey scheme, and a blue 'splash' on the opposite side achieved through a novel vector process. The 750S' Satin Black Vortex alloy wheels are matched with brake calipers in colors referencing the Triple Crown victories. Silver leaf exterior detailing and interior features like the Triple Crown logo, graphite Alcantara seat etchings, and hand-painted shift paddles, further honor McLaren's successful racing heritage. A dedication plaque, complete with a piece of McLaren F1 carbon fiber bodywork, seals its status as a mobile tribute to the brand's illustrious racing success.
