Paul Daimler worked for his father, building cars with Wilhelm Maybach for Europe's elite & wealthy. One such aristocrat was Emil Jellinek, who ordered 2 cars to be named after his daughter: Mercedes. The name stuck, and the rest is history.
Mercedes-Benz Classic has the original prototype, along with the original blueprints for it. So if you are interested they will build you a replica. As for price, if you have to ask...this car is not for you. It has no cruise control, lane keeping assist, or Android auto. Also, you won't find a steering wheel, transmission, or a spare tire.
