Years ago, Mercedes-Benz laid out the plans for the future of its business, and one of those announcements captured a notable amount of intrigue, and that was the introduction of a new series of cars entitled “Mythos.” It took a few years for that series to come to fruition, and it was well worth the wait, as the first car to be a part of the Mythos series was the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed, a stunning roofless barchetta that nods to Mercedes-AMG’s racing legacy and uses limited production numbers for collector panache.
Now, the second Mythos model is on the horizon, as Mercedes-Benz is showing it off as a camouflaged prototype in testing. That testing is taking place in the throes of Scandinavian winter, and specifically in Sweden, near the Arctic Circle. The extreme location and conditions will ensure the vehicle’s ability to perform in even the most demanding climates, remaining a shining icon of luxury, performance, and exclusivity.
The new Mythos car is clearly based on the Mercedes-Benz CLE, and Mercedes-Benz says that it takes the model much further in terms of performance, and being a unique vehicle on the road. A massive fixed wing can be seen on the prototype, suggesting a vehicle whose power demands serious downforce. As testing continues, anticipation builds for a new member of the elusive Mythos series, and yet another collector-grade Mercedes-AMG masterpiece.
