Mercedes-Benz and Moncler reunite for more collaboration.
Known as one of the most legendary names in automotive luxury, Mercedes-Benz collaborated with aprés-ski fashion giant Moncler last year, creating PROJECT MONDO G, an avant-garde artistic intersection between the legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV and the iconic Moncler puffer down jacket. PROJECT MONDO G was shown off at Moncler's "The Art of Genius" show in London in February 2023, and this year, at the Moncler “City of Genius” show in Shanghai, a new collaborative project has blossomed between Moncler and Mercedes-Benz.
Tapping into the creative talent of Japanese streetwear and fashion magnate NIGO, the new Moncler x Mercedes-Benz "Project G-Class Past II Future” was unveiled at the center of a new "Past Forward. Where the Future is Driven by the Past" campaign. Inspired by the more rugged, Spartan G-Class of the 1990s, the project features a design thoroughly reworked by NIGO.
Rather than just being an art piece, the new Mercedes-Benz x Moncler Project G-Class Past II Future by NIGO is complemented by an ultra-exclusive limited-edition G-Class model echoing its design, with only 20 examples available. The show also previews a new collaborative, gender-neutral capsule collection of Mercedes-Benz x Moncler clothing, which will launch in April 2025.
As part of the Shanghai showcase of the latest from Moncler Genius, where the iconic brand collaborates with designers and artists from across the globe, the event featured the likes of A$AP Rocky, Willow Smith, Edward Enninful (OBE), FRGMT by Hiroshi Fujiwara, Gilga Farm by Donald Glover, and Palm Angels, with showcases from iconic fashion houses Rick Owens and Jil Sander, as well.
The Past II Future G-Class's ‘90s-inspired design includes black steel wheels, a folding windscreen, a removable roof with “boom box”-inspired speakers, checkered seat upholstery, and accents in orange and gold that nod to Moncler and NIGO's creative input. Celebrating the 45th anniversary of the legendary G-Class, one of Mercedes-Benz’s most integral staples, the limited edition 1-of-20 G-Class will be delivered to its owners in April 2025.
