    Rétromobile 2026 to Spotlight Mercedes-Benz Classic’s 1000 Miglia Program

As the Paris show marks its 50th edition, Mercedes-Benz Classic presents factory-backed 1000 Miglia entries, historic race cars, and an expanded Classic Partner network in France

The 50th edition of Salon Rétromobile Paris is set to open in a few days, and Mercedes-Benz Classic will focus on the 1000 Miglia. When doors open on January 28, the three-pointed star will present three 1950s Mercedes-Benz classics, each offered with a guaranteed place on the 1000 Miglia 2026 start line in Italy this June.

The cars available for purchase: a 1955 300 SL Gullwing (W 198), a 1955 220 Ponton (W 180), and a 1956 190 SL (W 121). The rally only accepts models that competed in the original 1927 to 1957 race. Mercedes-Benz Classic is also offering factory-backed support packages, positioning you to participate as part of the works presence.

A 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR (W 196 S), from the factory collection, recalls the brand’s defining Mille Miglia year. We got an up-close look at the 300 SLR on the opening day of the 1000 Miglia Experience UAE last year. It was also followed by our exclusive coverage of the rally on our sister site, Petrolicious.

Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson won outright in 1955 with a record time. Mercedes-Benz followed with a one-two overall finish, triple class wins with the 300 SL Gullwing, and three diesel class victories with the 180 D.

Alongside the cars, Mercedes-Benz Classic and Roarington are presenting the “417 Legacy Edition” driving simulator. Limited to seven units, it digitally recreates the class-winning 1955 300 SL that carried start number 417, using period data combined with modern simulation hardware.

Another offering targets restoration-focused collectors. A barn find 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL discovered in Pennsylvania will make an appearance. First registered in 1961, it retains matching numbers and original patina. Mercedes-Benz Classic Center specialists have identified it as a suitable candidate for a factory-correct restoration.

Rétromobile 2026 will also mark the launch of the Mercedes-Benz Classic Partner network in France. SAGA Classic locations in La Roche-sur-Yon, Les Ulis, and Lille join an international network that now includes 80 partners across 17 countries.

“At the start of our anniversary year marking 140 years of innovation, Mercedes-Benz Heritage GmbH demonstrates how it is preserving the brand’s heritage in the long term while consistently developing its range of services further,” - Marcus Breitschwerdt, Executive Vice President of Mercedes-Benz AG and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Heritage GmbH.

Looking ahead, this momentum extends beyond Paris. duPont REGISTRY will play host to the inaugural U.S. edition of Rétromobile later this November, bringing the event’s format and focus on historically significant cars to a new audience in North America.
