2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 and S65 Revealed With Specs

Mercedes-AMG, the performance-oriented branch of Mercedes-Benz, has pulled back the veil from the new 2018 S63 and S65 models (both Coupe and Cabriolet). This new model year sees a number of changes, with the most updates being made to the engines and exterior. On the outside, both models now feature the iconic Panamericana grille that pays homage to the 300 SL that won the 1952 Mexican Road Race.Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson With LaFerrari and GTA Spano, Can't FitStarting with the S63, the engine has been reduced from a 5.5-liter V8 biturbo to a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo. However, the power is rated at a monstrous 603 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque-- that's 26 hp more than the 5.5-liter. Laying down the power to all four wheels is the new AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G automatic transmission. When all power is accounted for and the pedal hits the floor, the S63 will rocket from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph.2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 Next up is the big brother S65, which retains the massive 6.0-liter V12 engine. This engine has an output of 621 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. While the S65 may be the BIG brother, it can still run 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds and hit the 186 mph limited top speed.2018 Mercedes-AMG S65Other than the new grille, the S63 and S65 see just a few updates, including the redesigned aero components (front bumper, side skirts and rear bumper), and OLED taillamps.Pricing has not been announced yet, but both models will have their world premiere at the 2017 Frankfurt International Auto Show.

300,000th Mercedes-Benz G-Class Has Finally Been Produced

After 38 years of production, Mercedes-Benz has created the 300,000th example of their famed G-Class vehicle. The milestone car is a new, obviously, G500 finished in designo mauritius blue metallic with black leather seats inside and white stitching. Also adding some contrast are the black 16-inch wheels that go well against the blue exterior. How did Mercedes-Benz come to create this specific G-Class? Interestingly enough, they asked the fans of the official Facebook page of the G-Class to vote on their favorite spec.

Control Everything By Voice In The Updated 2018 Mercedes-...

As a young child, I remember a theme park ride that promised a voice-controlled world by the end of the 90's. The premise was that your life would be easier by voice commands to various appliances and systems. Now that our phones have the ability to interpret our every need, it's time for cars to catch up. Engineers at Mercedes-Benz rose to the challenge, and they efforts will debut on the 2018 E-Series. LINGUATRONIC is the voice control system that has the ability to interpret 22 languages. A press release early this morning outlines the new features. Also Check Out: Brutal Top Speed Mercedes-AMG E63 S on the AutobahnIn addition to the normal navigation and phone commands, the system is now interfaced with vehicle controls. A logical upgrade of the system, it allows for climate, lighting, seats, and 450 individual actions to be controlled by the driver. Since many manufacturers have valued appearance over functionality, trying to make a change to audio or A/C poses a major distraction. Thankfully, Mercedes-Benz knows the Autobahn is a bad place to be reaching for the seat heater. Keep your hands on the wheel and enjoy the different responses to each command. To give the system a human touch, Linguatronic will answer in the affirmative in various ways. Other new options for the E-Class will be a 12.3" center screen. It aligns with the driver's screen to create a seamless display. Twin USB ports for the rear passengers will keep devices charged. And a new trunk closure responds to a gentle tap after unloading groceries. The new E-Class will arrive soon, so check with our dealers for more information and stay with us for all your Mercedes-Benz news.

Mercedes-AMG Launches New Campaign for E63 S 4MATIC+

Mercedes-AMG has launched a new campaign for the new and powerful E63 S 4MATIC+. The campaign is centered around a trio of short films created by British photographer Rankin. Daimler notes in a press release regarding the campaign that these films "show the complexity that career people face in their lives today. They have to go their own way to achieve their aims. Much in the same manner as the performance saloon makes its own rules when it comes to driving dynamics."The three new Mercedes-AMG films are titled "Focus Your Energy," "Do Not Waste Anybody's Time," and "Appear Where You Are Not Expected." Each video s howcases the E63 S 4MATIC+, which has a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine. This engine delivers a massive 612 horsepower, making it the most powerful engine ever fitted in an E-Class. That kind of power rockets the car from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. That kind of acceleration is only possibly with the car's AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed sports transmission and the 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system. You can view each of the films below.Focus Your Energy Do Not Waste Anyone's Time Appear Where You Are Not Expected

Glorious Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Exhaust Noise

The now classic Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR was introduced into the world of racing back in 1997, but two decades later it's still one of the most gorgeous cars the German automaker has ever created. This stretched out CLK houses a massive 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces an ear-shattering exhaust note. While the CLK GTR and CLK LM raced in the FIA GT series and 24 Hours of Le Mans, Mercedes produced 25 road cars from 1998-1999 after the GIA GT1 class was canceled in 1999. This road-going version brought a lot of components over from the racing version, including that massive V12 engine. However, the displacement of the engine was increased to 6.9-liters and the racing air restrictor was removed. This results in 604 hp and 572 lb-ft of torque. At the time, the Guinness Book of World Records regarded it as the most expensive production car ever built, at a price of $1,547,620, which would equate to around $2.3 million in today's money with inflation taken into account.Related - 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R Coupe Gets Official U.S. PricingSpeedracer38 recently filmed a CLK GTR SS's exhaust as it made its way back to the RENNtech headquarters after a day at the track. Mercedes-Benz G550 4x4 Squared: High & Mighty

We're not going to lie, the abundance of unexciting SUVs on the market has us feeling a little low. The immense number of boring models in production must be offset by rugged performance, so Mercedes has a prescription that might leave you a little high. Installing massive rubber is not a new way to increase ground clearance, but it puts a strain on your entire driveline. If your differential has battle scars from the trail, you might want to consider a lift kit. The economical way to do it, lift kits change your suspension geometry and make the ride less tolerable. Engineers who designed your SUV went to school for years to build the perfect compromise of street and off-road abilities, so why would you second guess them? Mercedes-Benz has always chosen the other direction in their 4WD products. Much like the Unimog, the G-Class has remained relatively unchanged for decades. But when they were given an infinite budget to create the 6x6, some of the lessons learned were applied across the lineup. G is for Gelndewagen, which literally translates to cross-country vehicle. Designed to go anywhere, it is probably the last production 4WD to have solid axles front and rear. They are nearly indestructible, which is why most off-road enthusiasts prefer their rugged design over an independent front suspension. The only disadvantage is the differential housing, often called the "pumpkin," is the lowest point on the truck. Related - Mercedes-Benz Concept A: Bringing the Curves Back Pumpkin of a 2016 Ram Rebel Sure big tires will help, but if you really want to avoid scrapes, portal axles are the best way to go. A portal box at each corner allows the differentials and driveshafts to remain tucked up close to the floor and away from the rocks. Portals also incorporate a gear reduction which relieves stress on the driveline. Only the Unimog and the G550 4x4 Squared have adopted them in production form because they are incredibly expensive. The amount of time involved in fabricating the gears and boxes are why they have been limited to industrial and military use until now. Because of the sizable investment  Mercedes has made, Dealers in the US have been reticent to order the Squared without a sizable deposit. That's why every example we upload is gone within hours. I saw one at the Ritz-Carlton parking lot during the Amelia Island Concours and I couldn't keep from crawling under. Looky here! Shock & Awe Stand Above The Competition Of course, the axles are heavier, and yes they add unsprung weight, but dual shocks at each corner keep the meaty tires under control. The 22" wheels are wrapped in 325-55-22 tires, which measure in at 36"x13". We have experienced the 4.0-liter twin turbo under the hood of the AMG GT S and the new C63, and it doesn't disappoint. But it doesn't have the same massive torque found in the G63 or G65, so clever gearing was needed. The transfer case of the 4x4 Squared has a more aggressive low range and combined with the reduction in the portals it allows the turbos to get to work. The engine is rated at 416 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough for a muddy afternoon. If you don't need 17.7" of ground clearance, the twin turbo 5.5 liter G63 and the battleship powered twin turbo V12 in the G65 are still available. The only reason they don't have the trick suspension bits is because they make too much power. If you need an uplifting experience, here are a few for your consideration. designo Mystic Blue from the Fort Lauderdale Collection White from The Collection White From Isringhausen Imports Black from Platinum Motorcars Detroit
