2017 Mercedes-Benz SLC Replaces the SLK

If you are in the market for a small roadster with a big personality, Mercedes-Benz has just released your next car. In a press release dated December 15th, the replacement for the aging SLK has been announced: the Mercedes-Benz SLC - the reference to the capital of Utah being a complete coincidence. Mercedes-Benz SLC300Fans of three-pedal driving now have another reason to lament, as a manual transmission will not be available. The only gearbox offered is a new version of their 9-speed auto coupled to two new engines. For the SLC300, a 1.9-liter four cylinder offers 241 hp, and 273 lb-ft of torque available at just 1,300 rpm. Having that much torque arriving so early will make for a fun ride, but the real treat is coming from Mercedes-AMG.Their new SLC43 packs a 3.0-liter V6 with twin turbochargers. Horsepower is rated at 362 with torque at 384 lb-ft. Not too long ago, building a short wheelbase two-seat roadster with almost 400 hp would seem unthinkable because the car would be uncontrollable. Thanks to incredible engine and stability systems, the SLC is a wise choice for safety. If the climate doesn’t allow for top-down motoring, Magic Sky Control is borrowed from SL. This electro chromatic glass in the hard top isn’t exactly magic, nor does it control the sky but it sounds better than dimmable roof panel. The market for small luxury roadsters is heating up. Fiat’s new 124 and Buick’s Cascada might be viable contenders, so stay tuned to Autofluence for more big updates on small cars.Mercedes-Benz's For SaleGallery (Source: Daimler-Benz)

2017 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet Unveiled

If you haven’t had an opportunity to drive a new S-Class coupe, you are doing yourself a disservice. They are solid & quiet machines with aesthetics unmatched in 2-door motoring. Back in September we were teased with topless versions of the S63 in 4MATIC trim, and we figured that the twin turbo V8 with AWD would be more than enough to twist the chassis. But in a press release this morning, the mad scientists in Affalterbach have done the unthinkable. Exterior: Anthracite Blue, Interior: Leather PorcelaineTwelve-cylinder engines are big, but they make great power. Turbochargers are also great ways to make power, but they are also hard to package into a cramped engine bay. Using the S63 Cabriolet as a solid base, they have skillfully produced one of the most potent convertibles of all time. The new Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet will arrive loaded with more safety and luxury than we have ever seen. Those pleasantries require motivation, so 6.0-liter V12 peaks at 630 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to having more torque than most locomotives, the 4MATIC AWD system will not be available. In its place are a host of safety and stability features, including PRE-SAFE PLUS. If an impact is imminent, the brakes are locked and belts are tensioned to minimize injury. Autonomous lane keeping and braking make highway driving a breeze, and the top of speed of 155 mph can be raised to 186 with the optional AMG Driver’s Package. For every good convertible, there are a dozen bad ones. Even if the weather is perfect, many drop-tops are plagued by cowl-shake and obesity when compared to their hardtop brethren. This is one area where the German engineers offer no quarter. High-strength steels along with magnesium and aluminum make for a body shell that is just as stiff as the S-Class coupe, without gaining any weight. Interior: Leather PorcelaineStarting with a solid foundation, no amenity was overlooked. For chilly mornings, the AIRSCARF sends warm air down your back and the new AIRCAP wind protection system keeps cockpit turbulence to a minimum. Seats are trimmed in designo exclusive nappa leather with contrast stitching. Looking up, the triple layer top is also trimmed in nappa leather along with DINAMICA microfiber.Pricing has yet to be released, but as soon as we have more details, you will see it first here on Autofluence.AMG S65's For SaleGallery (Source: Daimler via Mercedes-AMG)

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Just Got Even Classier

For the discerning Mercedes-Benz buyer, their designo program incorporates an exclusive set of interior and exterior options that make for a bespoke automobile. Not merely a different palette to choose from, the paint and leather are of a higher quality than regular production models.Since designo has been an unquestioned success, they are now taking it to the next level. In a press release dated December 4th, Daimler dished out the details of the new designo manufaktur program. The first vehicle to receive this treatment will be the Geländewagen (G-Class). The classic "G wagen" has been in production in Austria by Magna Steyr since 1979.Since it has a dedicated production line, it allows for the hand-finishing of the finer details. The Manufaktur hand-finishing section will ensure that stitching, paint, and final assembly are done by skilled craftspeople, not machines. The new interior colors offered in the program are designo leather saddle brown, deep-sea blue, silk beige and mocha brown. For the G63 and G65, buyers can also choose from a DINAMICA package that adds an AMG flat-bottom steering wheel, along with microfiber trim for the dash, seats and headliner.Since the G-Class always seems to be last in line to get the latest options, also announced in the press release is the launch of the Night Package for the SUV range. For an imposing, Murdered Out motif, the mirrors, bumpers, and fender flares are finished in Obsidian Metallic.Because designo models are made to order, it will take some time until we see one in our listings, but rest assured that once we do, you will see it in detail on Autofluence. Rare Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss Now For Sale

Back in June, we told you why you should own a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Notwithstanding that it was the first major use of carbon fiber in a production car, the extremely limited production run makes it one of the most sought after cars in recent history. To celebrate the ending of the productive partnership between both of the car’s manufacturers, the final 75 SLR’s were dedicated as a tribute to Sir Stirling Moss’ 300 SLR that was campaigned in the Mille Miglia. Built in the spirit of open-air racing, the SLR McLaren Stirling Moss has no convertible top, or even a windshield.Mercedes SLR McLaren For SaleThe interior is Spartan at best, with the radio and infotainment displays being replaced with carbon fiber. Racing buckets are covered in black and red leather in a classic pattern, and the shifter plate is emblazoned with the signature of Sir Moss himself. A majority of the 75 cars were silver, which makes this example much more significant. The only speedster capable of 217 mph is powered by the 650 hp supercharged 5.5-liter V8 from the SLR 722 edition. It also comes with doors, but they are much smaller than the pair found on the production SLR. Sixty miles-per-hour arrives in 3.5 seconds, if you don’t mind the wind in your face. An optional canvas tonneau cover covers the interior, and can be split in half to only cover the passenger area.Mercedes For SaleOnly once in a blue moon do these cars become available, so don’t miss this opportunity at a blue chip collectible.Inquire NowGallery

Brabus Tunes Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S to 700 hp

Mercedes-Benz's new GLE 63 S Coupe is already a potent vehicle, capable of producing 577 hp from its 5.5-liter biturbo V8. But, that wasn't enough for Brabus, who upped the car's power all the way to 700 hp. Revealed in a press release from Brabus and set to be at the Dubai International Motor Show 2015, the 700 Coupe takes advantage of the new B63S-700 performance kit, which adds an additional 115 hp to the SUV's specs. This kit includes special gold heat reflection sheathing, new turbochargers, intake charge-air pipes and more. When at a dead stop, this quick SUV will rocket to 62 mph from a standstill in just 4 seconds. Aside from the lightning-quick acceleration, the top speed has been improved up to 186 mph. As with most current Brabus models, the 700 Coupe includes an exhaust that offers a "Coming Home" option. When selected, this option will shush the exhaust for a more subtle sound. When not selected, the sporty sounds of the exhaust can be heard all around. Along with the technical upgrades, there are plenty of visual additions, including the carbon fiber exterior pieces, Monoblock Y "Platinum Edition" forged wheels and the lowered ride height, thanks to the Airmatic air suspension. Inside is a lush cabin filled with leather, which can be customized to the customer's liking. For the example being shown at the Dubai International Motor Show, Brabus chose an azure-blue Mastik leather for the interior. While the GLE has just hit the roads, it wasn't too soon for Brabus to take the SUV to the next level. GLEs For Sale Gallery (via BRABUS) More Aftermarket News

Mercedes-Maybach S 600 and S-Class Model Range pressdrive Santa

By Andrew Nabors –  November 11, 2015

Why the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Should Be Your Next Car

Everyone knows eight cylinder engines make great power, but it wasn't too long ago when something more was needed. Having four more cylinders offers power in any situation, along with a smoothness that comes from having an extra two cylinders firing simultaneously.Mercedes-Benz and their parent Daimler have been building twelve-cylinder power for decades, and their latest creation is nothing short of amazing. Sure, you can have amazing power with a V8, or even a twin turbo V6, but even as advanced as they are, you need to dig into the accelerator to get them into their powerband. The beauty of a V12 is that it makes power everywhere on the tachometer. There is something rewarding about barely tapping the pedal and being rewarded with power.While V12s often make more power than you could need, Mercedes decided it was best to add two turbochargers to ward off any potential competitors. This proven formula has been the powerplant of the S65 AMG for years now, but now it is available in a Maybach-quality package. In the Mercedes-Maybach S600, you have one of the world's finest engines with extraordinary features. The new Mercedes-Maybach S600 is essentially a detuned S65, minus a few of the wild options. For under $200,000, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 offers 523 hp and 612 lb-ft of torque wrapped in more safety and luxury than any sedan in this segment. Executive seats in the rear allow passengers to recline with powered footrests, while a "chauffeur position" setting adds an additional three inches of leg space for those sitting behind the front passenger seat.Air within the cabin is ionized, filtered and misted with a light fragrance, while most all features can be controlled from the touchpad COMAND system. A Burmester Surround Sound System provides any level of sound quality desired, turning this car into a luxury lounge on the move. The next best driver's feature after the engine is Magic Sky Control. Two forward facing cameras feed a stereoscopic view of the road ahead to the suspension system, which adjusts shock and spring firmness before the car reaches uneven pavement. The result is a powerful sedan that rewards you with the smoothest ride on the market. And if you need to leave in a hurry, the accelerator can be called upon to reach 60 mph from a standstill in 4.5 seconds on your way to an electronically limited 155 mph. The soundtrack of the V12 is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Whereas the V8 sounds raucous and unrestrained in a wide-open launch, the V12 emits a low-pitched thunder accompanied by copious tire smoke.Even if you don't choose to buy one, it's worth your time to visit your local Mercedes-Benz dealer and experience one for yourself.
