Mercedes Drops Another Teaser of the Upcoming G-Class Cabriolet

Mercedes-Benz has posted a teaser showing a fabric roof folding away on a G-Class, accompanied by the caption, "unfolding a new chapter for the G-Class." Little else is visible beyond the rear-mounted spare wheel and what appear to be low-profile tires. The most revealing clue is that both Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG are tagged in the post, suggesting the open-top G-Class could launch with performance variants from the outset. Mercedes first confirmed the open-top W465 in September last year, with a shadowy silhouette teaser announcing that a new G-Class Cabriolet was in development. We reported on camouflaged pre-production prototypes undergoing testing in December last year. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mercedes-Benz G-Class (@mercedesbenzgclass)   Built by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, since 1979, the G-Class or Geländewagen began life as a military off-roader before evolving into one of the world's most recognizable luxury SUVs. Civilian versions turned it into a cult luxury object favored by celebrities and royalty, while the hardware stayed serious: three locking differentials, short overhangs, and eventually AMG power with SLR-style side-exit exhausts. The open-top format is not new to the G-Class. Cabriolet versions have existed since the earliest days of the model line, including on utilitarian trims, but factory convertibles have always represented a tiny fraction of overall G-Class production.  The best-known example, the G500 Cabriolet, was offered exclusively as a short-wheelbase two-door between 1999 and 2013 and was never officially sold in the United States. Production ended with the W463 Final Edition, a run of 200 examples that sold out before making its public debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.  The 2017 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet took a different approach entirely, pairing a V12 and portal axles with a partial folding roof over the rear compartment only. Limited to 99 units, two examples have crossed the digital auction block on duPont REGISTRY Live over the past year. Reports for now all point to a four-door layout on the upcoming model based on the W465 platform, which is a departure from the short-wheelbase two-door tradition. That original two-door open-top bodystyle has since become one of the most desirable configurations.  The restomod world too has embraced the format, as highlighted in our list of some of the best Mercedes G-Wagens for sale today. Expedition Motor Company, Refined Marques, Mansory, and G Cabrio all build interpretations of it. Brabus and Mansory have both gone further, producing four-door cabriolets on the current W465 platform. We  Series production is reportedly scheduled to begin during the third quarter of 2027 ahead of a 2028 model year launch, with a Mercedes-AMG G63 Cabriolet expected to headline the range. Update: Mercedes has since put out one more clip earlier today, revealing a near-production-ready prototype with camouflage only on select bits of the bodywork.  View All Mercedes-Benz G-Class For Sale View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mercedes-Benz G-Class (@mercedesbenzgclass)     Images: Mercedes-Benz

One of the longest-running models from one of the most historic brands in the entire automotive industry, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is an undeniable legend of a vehicle. Known for its unparalleled off-road ability, as well as looks that today have become head-turning, unique, and a tried-and-true favorite for those who want to drive something with glitz and glamor, the G-Wagon is something special and certainly something that's hard not to love. What is the price of a Mercedes G-Wagon? Especially if you're looking for a used Mercedes G Wagon, that's a question that depends on quite a few factors. The Mercedes G-Wagon starting MSRP of $153,900 is what you can expect if you want to buy a 2023 Mercedes G Wagon for sale that's brand new, but as far what a used one would go for, there are decades worth of different models, powertrains, and specs to choose from. Examples of the rare cabriolet model can fetch prices well into the six figures, and if you want the performance-enhanced Mercedes-AMG G 63, that is sure to come at a premium as well. Those are just a couple of examples of different G-Wagons you can find on the market. What is the best Mercedes G-Wagon to buy? While the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is quite clearly a large body-on-frame 4x4, the different versions of it that have been made are quite versatile within that space. Therefore, the best G-Wagon to buy is the one that best suits your needs. If you're looking for the ultimate off-road companion, the 4x4 Squared model could well be the best G-Class for you, while those who are looking for extra performance might be better suited to the Mercedes-AMG G 63 4x4 Squared. However, buyers who want to take the notorious luxury factor of the G-Class to the max will surely want to get their hands on the rare examples of G-Wagons that the ultra-luxury Mercedes-Maybach division got their hands on. What are the Mercedes G-Wagon most popular colors? Especially among most cars on the road today, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is quite the head-turner, even with its increasing popularity. Plenty of owners like the attention-grabbing factor of the G-Class, and have theirs outfitted with paintwork that is beautiful and just as unique as the car itself. Plenty of the most popular colors for the SUV come from the premium Designo line of finishes, like Designo Yello Olive Magno or Designo Night Black Magno, but classic colors like Rubellite Red, Polar White, Brilliant Blue Metallic, Mojave Silver, Obsidian Black, and Emerald Green are also popular and beautiful choices, which are still sure to attract plenty of attention from passers-by. Mercedes-Benz Tests A New G-Class Cabriolet

The G-Class Cabriolet is poised for a triumphant return. The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon is one of the world’s most quintessential luxury SUVs, with a rugged design style that suggests its incredible off-road capability and traditional engineering solutions, as well as a sense of glamor and sumptuous luxury appointments that make it a favorite among celebrities and luxury drivers across the board. However, one variant of the G-Class is especially regarded for its exclusivity and uniqueness: the Cabriolet. With a folding fabric roof, the G-Class Cabriolet combines the capability and versatility of the G-Class with the open-air fun and style of a convertible, and especially in the States, it’s a coveted vehicle that’s not easy to find on the second-hand market. Examples that are listed for sale are considered collector-worthy and command high prices amongst the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon market, as well, but Mercedes-Benz may be bringing the celebrated G-Class Cabriolet back to its lineup. Mercedes-Benz Creates Bespoke G-Class Trophy Carrier For ...

Mercedes-Benz creates a bespoke vehicle for a noteworthy purpose. League of Legends is one of the premier gaming titles in the world of e-sports, and the MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game has risen to prominence worldwide, with competitors and teams across the globe battling for the World Championship title each year. This year’s Worlds finale is rapidly approaching, taking place on November 9 in Chengdu, China, and as a long-time partner of the game and the developer that created it, Riot Games, Mercedes-Benz has been involved in the tournament since it began earlier this year. As the finale of the tournament approaches, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled incredible custom vehicles made for the tournament, including a dedicated CLA Art Piece, based on the new generation of the CLA that has showcased some of the most advanced technology Mercedes-Benz has put in a vehicle yet, as well as an electric Mercedes-Benz G-Class that has the distinction of being the official Trophy Carrier for the Summoner’s Cup, the prize that teams are competing for in the tournament. With a special trunk module made bespoke to carry the Summoner’s Cup, the electric G-Class trophy carrier is just one part of Mercedes-Benz’s longstanding partnership with League of Legends. One of the teams competing, the South Korean T1, is led by superstar player Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, the first inductee into the League of Legends “Hall of Legends,” and the owner of a bespoke Mercedes-AMG SL as a result of his induction into the hall of fame. The team has reached the Worlds final for the fourth time in a row, and is aiming for its third consecutive victory this year. With a special trophy carrier created for the tournament finale, and an art piece reminiscent of the game’s lore, Mercedes-Benz’s partnership with League of Legends grows even richer at this year’s Worlds finale. Mercedes-Benz's G-Class Production Reaches 600,000 With A...

Few SUVs carry a legacy quite like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. What started as a rugged, military-bred 4x4 has evolved into a modern symbol of luxury and status backed by track-inspired performance from the specialists at AMG. Since 1979, the big-box off-roader has stuck to its unmistakable silhouette and go-anywhere attitude, building a cult following that stretches from military bases to Malibu. Now, the G-Class's legacy reaches a major milestone as Mercedes-Benz just completed its 600,000th chassis. Its latest one, a fully electric G 580, rolled off the line in Graz, Austria. While the G 580 trades its gas engine for zero-emissions power, it keeps everything fans love: the ladder frame, three locking differentials, and an iconic upright stance still recognizable on Rodeo Drive as on a rocky trail. Of course, it wouldn't be a G-Class celebration without a look back at its heritage. Mercedes-Benz has never been shy about the model's backstory, and recent limited editions, like the STRONGER THAN THE 1980s tribute, highlight just how much nostalgia there is. That 500,000-unit version sparked such a wave of enthusiasm that Mercedes followed it up with even more retro-inspired versions. And given how the G-Class combines modern tech with old-school charm, it makes sense that it keeps growing without losing its soul. Whether you're into the raw off-road feel of the early W460s or prefer a fully kitted-out AMG version with quilted leather and 20-speaker audio, there's a G for you. Another part of the G-Class's success? Personalization. Mercedes has relied on letting owners spec their dream builds through its MANUFAKTUR program, which lets you choose from over 20,000 paint colors and a near-infinite number of interior combinations. Nearly every one that rolls out today has at least one bespoke touch, and most have several. That attention to detail reflects just how far the G-Class has come, from a utilitarian workhorse to a high-end statement piece that can still out-climb most SUVs on the market. With 600,000 and counting, the G-Class isn't slowing down anytime soon. View All Mercedes-Benz G-Class For Sale Source: Mercedes-Benz
