Mercedes Benz G-Class Encased in 44 Tons of Amber

Think about the most breathtaking display you have ever seen an at an auto show, and get ready to be amazed. The Detroit auto show is almost upon us, which means manufacturers from around the world will be fighting your attention.Everyone knows the new G-Wagen will be a star of the show, so expect to see a few examples of its predecessors. It has been in production since 1979, known as the Geländewagen. It means cross-country wagon in English since it has 3 locking differentials with enough gear reduction to pull a building up a hill.Michael Fux AMG Black Series Collection Heading To AuctionWhen an automaker chooses to display historical versions, you can bet they have tight security around them. Instead of a guard or a velvet rope, Mercedes-Benz chose another method to protect one of the first examples. The 1979 G Wagon heading to Detroit has been permanently cast into 44 tons of amber. Instead of using natural resources, a synthetic resin was poured around the vehicle and allowed to harden. This monolith measures 18' long by 10' high, and it took 90 days to cool. The logistics of transporting something like this make us wonder what will happen to it after the show. Perhaps the fossilized 4x4 will be found in the distant future, and its DNA will be used to clone a new generation of rugged luxury SUVs. SL65 Feature

2018 Mercedes SL65 Specs, Price, Photos & Review

Mercedes-AMG is known for the perfect balance of power and luxury, and the 2018 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG specs are the epitome of the combination. From styling to performance and safety to features, this coupe has it all. The monstrous 6.0-liter AMG V12 Biturbo engine pumps out 621 horsepower with 738 lb-ft of torque as a compliment. Streaming in from 0-60 in just 3.9 seconds, the AMG SL65 Roadster hits a top speed of 186 mph in swift time. Performance is an AMG staple, but it’s the options on this roadster that add to the overall appeal. The panorama roof, which provides riders with a clear view of the sky, is equipped with Magic Sky Control. This innovative piece of futuristic technology controls exposure to harmful UV and infrared rays from the sun while simultaneously keeping the cabin of the vehicle cooler. Attention assist, Nappa leather, and 12-way power seats only scratch the surface of the offerings that come with the AMG SL65 Roadster. Those who already love the Mercedes-Benz & AMG line will appreciate this one, and those who have only come to know the brand will find this Roaster particularly attractive. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Specs: Horsepower: 621 hp Torque: 738 lb-ft 0-60 MPH: 3.9 Seconds 60-0 Braking: 97 ft 1/4 Mile: 11.4 Seconds @ 125 MPH Top Speed: 186 MPH   Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Review Do you like the idea of an aluminum 2 seat roadster? The Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG specs will surpass all your expectations. Once you are behind the wheel the Active Body Control will coddle you. An ingenious system uses the air suspension to tilt the body into corners. This produces less lateral G-forces when the road gets twisty. As standard equipment, a collision avoidance system can sense erratic traffic beyond the car in front of you, and it works wonders in heavy traffic. A panoramic glass roof is electrochromatic, changing from transparent to opaque instantly. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Engine Every other 2-seat roadster is powered by a V6 or V8. But being true to the SL’s heritage, Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG specs a twin-turbocharged 6.0 liter V12. The all-aluminum design has 3 valves per cylinder, and they take orders from a single overhead camshaft. It has 2nd order balance thanks to the 60-degree design. 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL Gets Facelift and Updates Although it is based on a Mercedes-Benz 5.5 liter, the 6.0-liter version is exclusive to AMG. The big V12 offers 621 horsepower and 740 lb-ft of torque with incredible efficiency. Each cylinder has two spark plugs that fire milliseconds apart. This produces a stronger pressure wave as the flame front moves across the piston. It might seem complex to have 24 ignition coils, but the system is redundant by nature. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Transmission Nine and ten-speed transmissions have invaded dealer lots in the ever-increasing quest for fuel mileage. It even happened to the V8 powered SL63 AMG. But engines that make this level of power don’t need that many gears to be efficient. That is why Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG specs a hardened 7-speed gearbox. The first production 7 speed in a passenger car is assembled in the original Daimler-Benz factory in Stuttgart Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Brakes Release the gas pedal in a hurry and your Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG specs a predictive stop. Software built into the ABS system moves the pads closer to the rotor if it anticipates a panic stop. Wet weather driving is also enhanced by automatic brake drying. By applying gentle pressure to the rotor, the pads are kept warm and dry- ready for action. Hold assist works in traffic to let your footrest. A firm press engages the hold, and it is released by tapping either pedal. Hill start assist is self-explanatory, and it is worth every penny. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Design As the evolution of their flagship, the task of making the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG stand apart from the other SL models was given solely to AMG. Always considering performance, it has an aggressive chin spoiler and sculpted rocker panels to keep it glued to the pavement. Heat extractors in the fenders and a rear diffuser are also specific to the SL65. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Price For the model year 2018, Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG specs the retail price at $222,000. Considering the abilities of this roadster, the price is well justified. Leasing is a popular option if you need a new company car. It can also be your new super stock dragster thanks to its impressive performance. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Interior If you demand the very best from your automobile, you might want to check out an SL65. Nothing compares to diamond stitch quilted designo Nappa leather. Sure, the 12-way seats are heated, and they also have several massaging programs. Everything from shiatsu to hot stone is replicated by both seats. From the trunk partition to the variable wind diffuser, you need only to press a button, make a gesture, or use voice control. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Standout Features You deserve to have something nobody has seen before. That is why Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG specs some wild features into the car. Audiophiles love clean bass, but there is not enough cabin room to mount a proper subwoofer. So AMG turned to Bang & Olufsen to create BeoSound. They patented a unique solution for low range sounds. The FrontBass speakers utilize the hollow chambers of the A-pillars to act as a resonance chamber. Not only does this cancel out road noise, they create dynamic low range sounds better than aftermarket systems. Another patented system is the Airscarf. This vent beneath the headrest is aimed to blow warm air down your back. You can cruise with the top down in freezing weather because Mercedes-Benz has your back. Final Design for 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Leaked

Fans of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class are fond of the SUV's iconic styling in the form of a boxy body and tall stature. For decades, the G-Class has stood out from other Mercedes models thanks to these design cues and, for the 2019 model year, the German automaker isn't planning on changing that.Leaked by AutoWeek.nl is a series of images that show the upcoming 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class without any camouflage. From the images, we see a new model that has been refreshed, but not overhauled. In the front are new headlights that are more pronounced, as well as a new bumper. In the back, the only change you'll see is a minute difference in the tail lights.Overall, however, the new 2019 G-Class is a bit more rounded-off. 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon Revealed

Not everyone wants a crossover. Big SUVs are never going away, but they are lumbering beasts with poor mileage. A wagon is a sensible choice for the modern family, and Mercedes-AMG has some nice proof of that.In a press release last night, we've learned that the E-Class wagon attracts the highest median household income of any product they offer. Boston and NYC represent 23% of wagon sales, with California buying another 22% of them. For five years, the E-Wagons have been without competition from other German brands in the US. Cadillac's CTS wagon was America's answer, but 2014 was its final year.AMG began as two Mercedes engineers who perfected the German performance aftermarket. Back in 1986, their shop in Westmont, IL built the iconic S124 "Hammer Wagon". Its successor is the 2018 E63 S, which arrives with a few nice features. The 4MATIC+ AWD system has been onboard since 2014, but this year it is powered by the same 4.0-liter twin turbo found across the AMG lineup. The 1986 AMG Hammer WagonYou will have 603 horsepower and a bonkers 627 lb-ft of torque between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm. Power of this magnitude allowed it to lap the 'Ring in 7:45.19, and reach 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. The latest in electronic differentials can send 100% of power to any corner at an instant- what a time to be alive! It even has a drift mode for your mother-in-law. Only available in Race mode, it disconnects the front axle for a proper rear tire fryer.Jon Olsson Cuts Roof Off of Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4²The latest in multi-chamber air suspension constantly corner-balances several times a second, with three distinct spring rates to choose from. Of course, the front brakes are 15.4" with 14.2" on the rear. Hidden easter eggs pay tribute to the E55 wagons we loved in the past. Mercedes-Benz and AMG know the value of their history, so the press release also included a Petrolicious video on the Hammer Wagon. Mercedes-Benz Unveils New 2019 G-Class Interior

It seems like automakers change their core products every few years to keep them appealing in the marketplace. But change can be unsettling when it comes to a dedicated clientele. That's why Mercedes-Benz has only updated their Geländewagen only a few times since it was introduced in '79,Spy shots of the new G-Class are hilarious because of the camouflage. Anyone with eyes can tell what it is. The unmistakable box on wheels is getting a well-needed facelift, and the interior will finally come into the 21st century.New 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS is Hybrid and MeanA press release early this morning includes jaw-dropping photos of the new cockpit. Two large displays are borrowed from the S-Class, and below the central screen are the three iconic controls that will never be used. Between the jet engine-inspired vents are the triplet of differential locks. The only production SUV to have 3 locking diffs, it's nice to know you can climb a mountain if needed.A new steering wheel incorporates two touch-sensitive buttons that respond to swipes like the screen of a phone.  The center console has the same control pad as all other models, and it is flanked by shortcut keys that will keep your eyes on the road. The G-Class and the Unimog are among the few Mercedes-Benz models to be made of steel and to have a traditional body-on-frame design. That is why they aren't built alongside the other models. Production is done by skilled masters at a dedicated plant in Graz, Austria. Their proving grounds is known as the Schöckl, one of the tallest mountains near the factory. It inspired the 6x6 and the 4x4 Squared to take on the world. A silver badge showing the mountain in the background is a matter of pride for the workers, and it is showcased on the B-pillar for everyone to see.We are very intrigued by these photos, so as soon as the new G-Wagens arrive you will see a complete review here on Autofluence. New 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS is Hybrid and Mean

Mercedes-Benz has completely overhauled the CLS-Class for the 2019 model year, and the result is an absolutely stunning sedan that drives and looks like a coupe.Obviously, we can tell that the new CLS looks very different with the new styling. The most prominent exterior modifications definitely come in the front end of the car. Looking straight on at the car, you'd think that the new CLS450 was an AMG model with how aggressive and sleek it looks. And that's probably because AMG body styling comes as a standard appointment of the CLS. 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS450

Mercedes-AMG Unveils Impressive LED Puddle Lamps

Illumination is a never-ending war between the luxury auto brands. Edison bulbs have been surpassed by advancements in LED technology. The puddle lamp is nothing new, but until now they have been reimagined by Mercedes-Benz. Spurred on by the successes of the lighted front star, they have released a new option for almost every model. Say Goodbye: Mercedes-AMG Announces G65 Final EditionThe new LED provides a brilliant display of the AMG logo. Their engineering prowess is shown by the intake valve and the lobe of a camshaft. Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4² Production To End

Nothing this good can last forever. The roughest & most capable G Wagen is not long for this world. In a press release this morning, Mercedes-Benz announced it will take orders until the end of October. All Hallows Eve will not be as scary without the big 4x4² towering over everyone.RENNtech Builds The Ultimate G500 4x4²It is a logical decision. The public reacted to it with shock & awe, and they sold more than anyone expected. It is so different than the normal G Class that it requires its own assembly methods along with negotiations with suppliers of the specialized parts. If you ever see one in person, you can't stop staring at the dual coil-over shocks at all corners. The beastly portal axles offer twice the ground clearance of the normal G500. I am only 5'9" with Timerlands on, and its a bit of a climb to get inside. Wearing 36" tires on 22" wheels appeals to the big kid in anyone, and they are probably the most aggressive tire on any production SUV. It is nice to have a 7" tall sidewall, the cushy ride won't spill your coffee. But from a practical standpoint, it doesn't fit in with anything else in their inventory. The G63 and G65 AMG models will carry on, and the aftermarket makes most of these parts if you want to build your own version. Our dealers are still taking orders for them, so click on the link below to get yours before collectors snatch them up. All we ask is that you get them muddy at least once a year. The triple-locking differentials need to be exercised, so hit the trails and stay with us for all your G Wagen updates.Search G Class For Sale

Mercedes-Benz Unveils Plug-In Hybrid S560e

Name something the S Class Mercedes is not capable of. If you thought it is incapable of charging itself, you would be mistaken. A new plug-in hybrid version was the shocking basis for a press release on Monday. Yes, the previous generation had a hybrid version, but the new car has been engineered with hybrid technology in mind.If the AMG S65 has enough underhood space to accommodate a V12 engine and twin turbos, a V6 and a motor/generator should drop right in. The new components share the same case as the 9G-Tronic transmission. This saves weight and allows the battery to send power directly to the axles. Also onboard is a 7.2 kW charger to keep the battery topped off.Mercedes-AMG Unveil 2018 S63 & S65 With a rating of 13.5 kWh or 37 Amp-Hours, it can power the S560e for 25 miles of electric cruising.
