Nothing quite screams Americana like the style and sound of a classic Shelby Mustang, tapping into one of the most iconic eras of motoring for most passionate car enthusiasts. And while anyone can appreciate the beauty behind an original from the 1960s, technology and craftsmanship have come a long way for the automotive industry, allowing professionals like Classic Recreations powered by Velocity, the ability to build your dream Shelby Mustang GT500 from the ground up using modern materials while retaining that classic, unmistakable look. Since acquiring Classic Recreation close to a year ago, Velocity is now marking a major milestone with the completion of its first production Mustang under its leadership.
Rolling off its reestablished production line in Pensacola, FL, the 1967-68 Shelby GT500CR Carbon, recently featured on the cover of duPont REGISTRY’s July 2026 issue, was an in-process build from Classic Recreations’ prior ownership. The licensed Shelby exterior shows off an incredible exposed carbon fiber finish with gloss-black painted racing stripes and logos, showcasing the perfect balance between its classic Mustang styling and modern, ultra-lightweight construction. Matching gloss-black OEM-plus-style wheels complete the look while adding the much-needed traction for this modern muscle car.
Inside, the cabin looks and feels nostalgic, right out of the late 60s, retaining its subtle, driver-focused interior. Plush black leather layers nearly every surface with red contrast stitching, from the two-piece seats, embroidered with Carroll Shelby’s signature, and onto the center console and dashboard. Characteristics like aluminum trim, a wood steering wheel, and classic Shelby badging give the GT500CR its period-correct style.
As Velocity continues its momentum, the first Classic Recreations Mustang signals the next phase of production for the brand, with additional builds nearing completion each week.
