As Formula 1 rolls into Miami this weekend, Caterham Cars is turning its attention to South Florida with the debut of a highly exclusive model. Against the backdrop of one of motorsport’s most vibrant global stages, the marque’s new Miami Special Edition Seven will be unveiled during the upcoming race weekend in Miami, bringing a distinctly tailored expression of British craftsmanship to an audience synonymous with luxury and high-performance culture.
Based on the Seven R, the limited-run model channels the energy of the city through a bespoke Aqua finish, complemented by Vibrant Pink and White decals designed to reflect Miami’s colorful automotive identity. The exterior is further distinguished by signature Miami script and a silhouette of the circuit positioned at the rear – subtle yet unmistakable cues that tie the car directly to its debut setting at the Miami International Autodrome.
The design narrative continues inside, where the cabin reflects the same level of personalization and craftsmanship. Miami script is embroidered into the headrests, while an individually numbered plaque is mounted on the dashboard. In keeping with the brand’s hand-built ethos, each example also features a second plaque within the engine bay, engraved with the names and signatures of the two artisans responsible for assembling the car at Caterham’s UK factory – an intimate detail that underscores the exclusivity of each build.
Performance remains central to the experience. This track-only Miami Special Edition is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter Ford Duratec engine, producing 210 bhp at 7,600 rpm. With a power-to-weight ratio of 375 bhp per tonne, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, the car delivers a 0-60 mph time of just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 136 mph – figures that reinforce its lightweight, driver-focused philosophy.
Motorsport enthusiasts attending the race weekend will have their first opportunity to see the car in person on Friday, May 1, on Race Street, located within the West Campus of the Miami International Autodrome. The unveiling positions Caterham within an event widely recognized for its blend of high-performance racing, world-class entertainment, and a guest list that spans industry leaders, celebrities, and collectors.

“Miami has become a global hub for elite motorsport and luxury automotive culture, so to have this moment to unveil the Miami Special Edition is truly unique,” said Trevor Steel, senior vice president of operations at Caterham Cars. “This car represents the very best of lightweight British engineering, and seeing the car launched and on display at the race weekend will be a significant moment for our brand.”
Caterham’s presence at the event also reflects a broader strategic focus on U.S. expansion. The company recently appointed Walt Grace Vintage as its latest American dealer, further strengthening its footprint in a market increasingly defined by luxury automotive demand. In parallel, the brand has announced a partnership with Precision Drive Club, an invitation-only membership community based at the Miami International Autodrome that is curated around world-class driving and hospitality experiences.

Exclusivity, however, remains paramount. Just 12 examples of the Miami Special Edition Seven will be produced, with 10 made available for purchase through Caterham’s U.S. dealer network following the race weekend. For collectors and enthusiasts alike, it presents a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of Caterham’s evolving presence in one of the world’s most dynamic automotive destinations – where craftsmanship, culture, and performance converge.
