Bruce Meyer’s Ferrari Testarossa Claims Best of Show at The Quail by The Peninsula

Few names carry more weight in the collector-car world than Bruce Meyer. A longtime advocate for automotive preservation, concours excellence and car culture, Meyer has spent decades shaping the hobby through his stewardship of historically significant automobiles. Now, one of the crown jewels from his collection has earned one of Monterey Car Week’s highest honors. At the 23rd annual edition of The Quail by The Peninsula, A Motorsports Gathering, Meyer’s remarkable 1957 Ferrari 625/250 Testarossa was awarded Best of Show, rising above a curated field of more than 200 automobiles to claim the event’s most prestigious distinction. The victory adds another chapter to Meyer’s celebrated collecting legacy while highlighting the enduring appeal of one of Ferrari’s most historically significant competition cars. Selected for its exceptional design, craftsmanship and historical significance, the Ferrari was inducted into the prestigious Rolex Circle of Champions, a tradition reserved for vehicles representing the pinnacle of automotive achievement. As part of the honor, Meyer received a specially engraved Oyster Perpetual Datejust 36 presented by Luca Bernasconi, president and CEO of Rolex USA. For collectors, concours judges and enthusiasts alike, the award reflects more than the quality of a single automobile. It underscores Meyer’s longstanding reputation as one of the most influential figures in the collector-car community, a passion that was also celebrated this year through The Bruce Meyer Collection, one of five featured classes at the event. A Ferrari Defined by Racing Provenance The winning Ferrari possesses a history as compelling as its appearance. Originally commissioned by famed Southern California Ferrari distributor and racer John von Neumann, the Scaglietti-bodied competition car established an impressive racing record during the 1957 season, collecting 11 victories. The car later received a 3.0-liter Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa V12, a transformation that helped contribute to a continued string of victories as a privateer racer. Its unique specification, combined with exceptional racing provenance and rarity, made it a standout among the world-class automobiles assembled on the fairways of The Quail Golf Club. Those qualities also embody the values celebrated by The Quail by The Peninsula: heritage, innovation, craftsmanship and the artistry of the automobile. Celebrating a Legendary Collector Meyer’s influence on the automotive world extends well beyond the cars he owns – six of which were on display at The Quail's greens (above). Widely regarded as one of the hobby’s most respected collectors and ambassadors, he has helped elevate appreciation for significant automobiles across generations of enthusiasts. His commitment to preservation, education and automotive culture has made him one of the most recognizable figures in the collector-car landscape. “I’ve never really looked at cars through the lens of value,” Meyer told duPont REGISTRY of his unique collection. “I consider myself more of an enthusiast than a collector. I’ve been buying cars for 50 years. I didn’t wake up one day and decide I wanted all the ‘right’ Ferraris. That's just not how I approached it. “For me, it's always been about the history and what excites me personally. If you walk through my garage, there's no common theme. It’s just a collection of things that spoke to me at a particular moment – cars that won races I cared about, cars with stories I loved. I’m interested in the history, the people, the stories, and what a particular car represents.” His impact was formally recognized at this year’s event through The Bruce Meyer Collection, a featured class showcasing the passion and vision that have defined his decades-long involvement in the automotive community. The inclusion of the class reinforced Meyer’s standing as a collector whose influence extends far beyond any individual vehicle. His collection has long been associated with historically important automobiles that tell broader stories about innovation, motorsport and design. With his Ferrari earning Best of Show, Meyer’s presence was felt across multiple facets of the event. A Showcase of Automotive Excellence The Quail by The Peninsula once again served as one of Monterey Car Week’s premier destinations for collectors, manufacturers and enthusiasts. More than 200 vehicles gathered on the show field, representing a carefully curated mix of automotive history, contemporary innovation and world-class design. The event also featured 22 vehicle debuts from OEMs and specialty manufacturers from around the globe. “The Quail By The Peninsula, A Motorsports Gathering embodies our approach to elevated hospitality, creating an experience where exceptional automobiles, thoughtful details and a shared passion for motoring come together in a truly distinctive setting,” said Benjamin Vuchot, CEO of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited. “As The Quail continues to evolve, so does the remarkable field of vehicles and classes we welcome each year. What remains at the heart of the event, however, is an authentic celebration of motorsports, one that honors the heritage and craftsmanship of the classics while embracing the innovation, design and performance shaping its future.” The event’s combination of luxury hospitality, significant automobiles and carefully curated experiences has helped cement its status as one of the most sought-after invitations of Monterey Car Week. Celebrating Automotive Heritage This year’s featured classes highlighted a broad spectrum of automotive culture and achievement. The 100th Anniversary of Route 66 celebrated one of America’s most iconic highways and its enduring influence on car culture. The Lamborghini Diablo class brought together 30 examples of one of the marque’s defining supercars, while The Legacy of Japanese GTs honored the craftsmanship and performance heritage of Japan’s most influential grand touring machines. The event also featured a dedicated Ferrari F40 class celebrating one of Ferrari’s most revered modern supercars. Together with The Bruce Meyer Collection, the classes reflected the diversity of interests that continue to drive the collector-car market, from American automotive heritage to European supercars and Japanese performance icons. Throughout the day, attendees experienced the atmosphere that has become synonymous with The Quail by The Peninsula. A particularly memorable moment occurred when vehicles from the Legacy of Japanese GTs, Ferrari F40, Lamborghini Diablo and Custom Coachwork classes participated in a synchronized engine roar, creating a dramatic celebration of automotive passion across the show field. Distinguished Award Winners In addition to Best of Show, several other distinguished vehicles received honors. The Spirit of The Quail Award went to a 1965 Porsche 911 owned by Marc Davidian (above). The Hagerty Drivers Foundation Award was presented to a 1962 Lincoln Continental owned by Richard Plavetich and Susan Denton. The Magneto Editor’s Choice Award was awarded to a 1994 Lamborghini Diablo VT JOTA from the Caretakers Collection (below). While each winner represented a different chapter of automotive history, it was Meyer’s Ferrari that ultimately captured the event’s highest honor. For a collector whose influence has helped shape the modern collector-car landscape, the recognition felt particularly fitting. In a field filled with extraordinary automobiles, the 1957 Ferrari 625/250 Testarossa stood above them all – an achievement that reinforces both the car’s significance and Bruce Meyer’s place among the most respected custodians of automotive history. Revealed: Eccentrica Unveils The New V12 Roadster Ahead of Monterey Car Week

There’s something to be said for preserving an era of motoring that will never be replicated, whether it’s the roar of a naturally aspirated V12, the feel of a gated six-speed manual gearbox, or the sight of gauge needles climbing across an analog cluster. That happened to be the exact vision for entrepreneur and Lamborghini collector Emanuel Colombini, sparking the birth of Eccentrica and the idea of re-engineering the first-series Lamborghini Diablo from a 1990s icon into a bespoke, modern-day analogue supercar. The San Marino-based restomod specialists started with the Eccentrica V12 in 2024. Today, Eccentrica is proud to announce the all-new Eccentrica V12 Roadster as the next chapter in its story, revealed just before its public unveiling at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week 2026.  GALLERY-EMBED Removing the roof falls directly in line with the Diablo’s lineage and Lamborghini’s idea of amplifying the excitement inside, with a screaming V12 revving to 7,500 rpm just behind the heads of the driver and passenger. Created in partnership with Milan-based design studio Borromeo De Silva, the V12 Roadster’s widened and recalibrated body remains unmistakably Lamborghini, thanks to the leadership of Maurizio Reggiani, former CTO of Lamborghini and the architect of the Murciélago, Gallardo, Aventador, and Huracán. Along with a new open-top look, Eccentrica also went underneath to upgrade carbon structure reinforcements and suspension geometry, while adding a custom semi-active damper system. GALLERY-EMBED Inside, the V12 Roadster keeps things just as special, mixing Connolly leather, Alcantara, anodized finishes, and exposed carbon fiber to give the cabin plenty of character. Like the rest of the car, every detail can be tailored directly to its owner, meaning no two of the 19 examples will be exactly alike. It’s a pretty fitting way for Eccentrica to build on what it started with, adding a new level of craftsmanship and personalization without losing the character that made the brand stand out in the first place. GALLERY-EMBED Now lighter and more connected, with hydraulic steering and Brembo brakes, the V12 Roadster feels even more confident unleashing all the power of its re-engineered 5.7L naturally aspirated V12. Revised in-house at Eccentrica, each engine delivers sharper throttle response, greater elasticity and a more immediate power delivery. With an ECU recalibration, along with heat management and optimized airflow, the V12 produces a healthy 550 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 442 ft-lbs of torque at 6,500 rpm. It's the perfect way to honor and preserve the Diablo’s original powerplant, managing it all through a six-speed gated manual gearbox. The Eccentrica V12 Roadster will be physically unveiled to the public for the very first time on August 14th, 2026, at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. GALLERY-EMBED Source: Eccentrica

The McMurtry Spéirling PURE Will Make Its Global Public Debut at Monterey Car Week

McMurtry Automotive built a legacy around the Spéirling over the past five years, one cemented in Goodwood Festival of Speed Hill Climb history, long before the single-seat electric hypercar ever began production. Recently revealing the final production spec, McMurtry just announced that the $1.3 million Spéirling PURE will make its global public debut in just a couple of short weeks on California’s Northern Peninsula during Monterey Car Week. First, McMurtry will be pulling the covers on the Spéirling PURE at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on Friday, August 14th in Carmel. Setting the stage for the biggest supercar and hypercar manufacturers for the most anticipated reveals of the year, the 23rd edition of the event proved to be the perfect setting for McMurtry to mark a milestone. The Spéirling PURE has come a long way since the first prototype race car shattered the Goodwood Hill Climb in 2022, featuring a design with 95% new components compared to previous models. Here, future owners and enthusiasts will have the opportunity to see and discuss its evolution with McMurtry Automotive members.  "The Quail really will be a significant moment in McMurtry’s history, and we cannot wait to witness the reaction of the public, our customers and the media in seeing the Spéirling PURE in production form, in person, for the first time. It’s one thing to see the images online, but to truly absorb the car’s design, proportions, details and finish, nothing compares to when the car is there in front of you." - Thomas Yates, McMurtry co-founder and Managing DirectorAfter The Quail, the Spéirling PURE will be on display at WeatherTech Laguna Seca Raceway on August 15th as part of Monterey Motorsports Reunion, where McMurtry co-founder and Managing Director Thomas Yates will be in attendance. As for what’s next in the coming weeks, the Spéirling PURE will be on display at a number of McMurtry dealer partners and tracks across America, with more details to be announced soon.
