Porsche Sonderwunsch revives the legend of the Carrera GT.
After 20 years, the Porsche Carrera GT is still one of the most captivating supercars in Porsche’s storied legacy. With a V10 engine and a manual transmission, it’s one of the most cherished purist-focused performance machines currently on the market, and through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch Manufaktur, customers can have their Porsche Carrera GT examples undergo a “Factory Re-Commission” from Porsche to reimagine their legendary supercars.
One of those customers is Victor Gómez from Puerto Rico, whose 20-year-old Carrera GT was not just restored to a new condition, but was also given a unique “Salzburg” livery that echoes another historic Porsche legend: the 1970 Le Mans-winning 917. The interior was also given a bespoke treatment, with upholstery in red Alcantara and accents in matte carbon fiber.
The restoration left no stone unturned, with the vehicle being completely disassembled, including its V10 engine being overhauled and carbon fiber parts being recoated. To achieve the Salzburg-inspired livery, the design had to be recreated to complement the Carrera GT’s proportions rather than the 917 race car. The livery is protected with a transparent foil for the owner to drive the supercar on the roads of Puerto Rico, as well.
Achieving a dream that is seemingly impossible, Factory Re-Commission allows owners of iconic, historic, and legendary Porsche masterpieces like the Carrera GT supercar to reimagine and restore the supercar to new condition with a configuration that matches their wildest dreams and imagination. The unique “Salzburg” design of this Carrera GT owned by Victor Gómez is an example of that incredible bespoke craftsmanship and design excellence.
