When the Porsche Carrera GT debuted in 2004, it represented a completely different direction for the Stuttgart brand. Built around a carbon-fiber monocoque and powered by a Formula 1-derived V10, it became a halo supercar for Porsche. The only downside was that the Carrera GT was surprisingly straightforward to personalize, with buyers having only a handful of exterior colors and interior combinations to choose from. Today, with the Carrera GT firmly cemented as a blue-chip collector car, Porsche is giving owners the chance to revisit the configuration process with Porsche Sonderwunsch and Porsche Classic, and personalize their cars in ways that weren't possible when they were new.
The team at Merit Partners of Atlanta, GA, is excited to showcase this 2005 Porsche Carrera GT as one of those bespoke factory re-comissions, now for sale on duPont REGISTRY. 
Stripped down in Stuttgart to its bare carbon monocoque, body panels find their way to the paint booth while all interior pieces are delivered to the upholstery department. Venturing outside Porsche’s standard five factory colors for the Carrera GT, the owner chose a fully exposed Amethyst Purple-tinted carbon fiber, setting its lightweight carbon fiber construction on center stage. The headlight cleaners, wheels, engine cover, side blinkers, grilles, and badging were also refinished in Slate Grey

Inside, the cabin received the same bespoke treatment from the Sonderwunsch team, layering every inch of the interior in Slate Grey Alcantara and Speed yellow stitching, extending to the steering wheel, doors, A-pillars, and lower dash. Matte carbon fiber replaces nearly all of the interior trim, including the Carrera GT's signature wooden manual shift knob. The carbon bucket seats have been completely redesigned with Slate Grey seat bolsters and headrests, Slate Grey Alcantara inserts, and Speed Yellow seatbelts. That exact styling finds its way into the frunk, where the Carrera GT’s removable roof is stored. 
The most impressive work is completed in the engine bay, where an extensive, factory-backed engine overhaul effectively resets this Carrera GT to a documented “zero-mile condition.” The engine powering Porsche’s halo supercar is a 5.7L naturally aspirated V10 derived from a cancelled Formula 1 project and a shelved Le Mans prototype, producing 612 horsepower and a screaming exhaust pitch. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, it remains one of Porsche’s greatest analog supercars.
