Porsche Museum Races A Le Mans-Winning 911 GT1 Race Car A...

Yes, you read it right! A Le Mans-winning Porsche 911 GT1 on ice! While the Porsche 911 GT1 remains a motorsport icon that stays tucked away in museums and collector garages around the world, there still happen to be a few examples that occasionally stretch their legs on open roads under perfect weather conditions. Porsche changed that this past weekend at the three-day F.A.T International Ice Race in Aspen, where they brought a Le Mans-winning Porsche 911 GT1 to tackle the wintery track on Colorado's mountainside. An absolute treat for anyone who was on-scene to witness the spectacle, Porsche racing driver Stéphane Ortelli thought he was dreaming when given the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Mobil1 x IBM Porsche 911 GT1. This specific chassis is made famous for clinching Porsche's 24-hour victory at the Circuit de La Sarthe in June 1998, driven by teammates Laurent Aïello and Allan McNish. The F.A.T. International Ice Race incorporates a racing heritage that dates back to 1955 when Colorado outlawed street racing on public roads. The Ice Race has been rebranded and brought to the U.S. since Ferdinand Porsche, Ferry Porsche’s grandson, first held the ice race in the tiny town of Zell Am See, Switzerland, home to the Porsche family for generations. Porsche Museum's engineering team really went above and beyond to tackle the challenge of making the GT1 ready for a snowy adventure. They raised the suspension to make space for the chunkier tires and borrowed a pre-heating system straight out of the 919 Hybrid playbook, even tweaking the software for easier drivability. Stephane Ortelli sheds light on Porsche's storied past of refining their sports cars in the demanding conditions of the mountains. Stephane concludes his dream day by saying, "This is what’s great about the Porsche Museum. They not only prepare the cars for shows, but make sure we can drive them, and drive them fast. Even Le Mans winners on snow." View all Porsches for sale on duPont REGISTRY by clicking the link below. View All Porsches For Sale Source: Porsche

At its core, Air|Water is a celebration of the entire Porsche spectrum. From vintage classics to modern racers, the event is an ode to Porsche's legacy in both street and racing domains. The event will feature a wide variety of models, including the iconic 911 GT3 RS, the advanced Porsche Penske 963 race car, and even overland-ready Cayennes. Last year’s preview at the Northern California event set the stage for what's to come. Icons Of Porsche Brought Over 27,000 Fans To Dubai

The incredible event featured showcases of the new Panamera and a Sonderwunsch bespoke 911 Turbo. The Icons of Porsche festival in Dubai recently concluded, marking a significant milestone in the automotive world. This annual event, known for showcasing the legacy and innovation of Porsche, attracted over 27,000 fans, making it a grand celebration of the brand’s 75 years of sports car excellence and 60 years of the iconic 911 model. The festival, set against the backdrop of the Dubai Design District, was a celebration of the cultural phenomenon that is Porsche, blending the love for classic and modern cars with arts and culture. This year's highlight was the first public display of the new Panamera, a model that continues Porsche's legacy of combining luxury with performance. Additionally, the unveiling of a special 911 Turbo Sonderwunsch, a bespoke model paying homage to the first 911 Turbo, captivated the audience. This unique vehicle is a testament to Porsche's dedication to customization and heritage and the abilities of its Sonderwunsch bespoke program, showcasing the brand's ability to blend modern engineering with classic and unique designs. Manfred Bräunl, CEO of Porsche Middle East and Africa FZE, emphasized the festival's importance as a celebration of the Porsche community's passion and strength in the region. The event's success, he noted, was a result of the collective effort of Porsche owners and enthusiasts who shared their cherished sports cars with the audience. Their participation brought to life the spirit of Porsche, making the event a memorable experience for everyone involved. The festival also marked the regional debuts of the 718 Spyder RS and the Vision 357 Speedster concept, alongside the all-electric Mission X hypercar concept. These models highlight Porsche's commitment to innovation and its vision for the future of sports cars. Additionally, the event featured a diverse display of vehicles from the Porsche Museum collection, including a 911 S/T, across eight zones. Each zone, from the 60 Years of 911 to the Porsche Museum heritage truck, offered a unique insight into Porsche's rich history and future directions. One of the most eye-catching features of the event was a giant inflatable 911 that entered the Guinness World Record books as the 'largest inflatable vehicle'. Towering over the Dubai Design District, this bright red sports car replica, based on the first-generation 911, was visible from miles away, symbolizing Porsche's significant impact on the automotive landscape. In addition to these displays, the festival also celebrated the history of the 911 Turbo through a bespoke project. A one-off 911 Turbo, remastered via the Sonderwunsch personalisation program, was revealed, drawing inspiration from the “911 Turbo Nr. 1” commissioned for Louise Piëch, daughter of Ferdinand Porsche. The original car, with its narrow-chassis 911 Carrera body and distinctive large Turbo rear wing, served as inspiration for a modern interpretation of a classic, blending historical significance with contemporary craftsmanship. The Icons of Porsche festival in Dubai stands as a testament to the brand's enduring appeal and its continuous evolution. It not only celebrated the past but also looked forward to the future of sports cars, underlining Porsche's position as a titan in the automotive industry. Rennsport Reunion 7 Welcomes "Mirage", The Porsche 911 Fr...

From the big screen to the biggest Porsche gathering, Transformers' 911 'Mirage' is the star of the show. When it comes to creating buzz in the auto and entertainment industries, nothing does it quite like a mashup of legendary sports cars and iconic action film characters. This September, the Autobot Mirage and its Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 (964) movie car are set to grace the world's largest Porsche gathering, Rennsport Reunion 7, after making a grand appearance in "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts." Fans can feast their eyes on this dynamic duo alongside other Transformers legends like Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal, and even attend a special screening of the blockbuster film. Ayesha Coker, Vice President of Marketing for Porsche Cars North America, couldn't be more thrilled. She commemorates the effort of the Porsche Classic team in restoring the car to functionality post-filming, saying, "It's a significant piece of Porsche history, and there's no better stage than Rennsport Reunion 7 to showcase it." The rarity of the 911 Carrera RS 3.8 can't be overstated, with Porsche producing only 55 units for the entire globe. To protect these vintage gems, the film used five movie set cars that superficially replicate the real deal. An authentic engine sound was recorded from a real 911 RS 3.8 to make the movie as accurate as possible. Each picture car had a unique function, from executing high-speed backward driving to intricate stunts, illustrating the efforts taken to produce a film experience that resonates with movie lovers and automotive enthusiasts. If you're one of the lucky guests attending Porsche's Rennsport Reunion 7 event, make sure to look out for Mirage and the rest of the Transformers crew.
