The Bridge Event Welcomes Sacrilege Motors' EV-Converted ...

Sacrilege Motors takes center stage at The Bridge's annual auto exhibition with an EV-converted Porsche 911 named BLACKBIRD, blending heritage and innovation. Sacrilege Motors is turning heads in the automotive world. Fresh off their debut at Pebble Beach Concours, co-founders Phil Wagenheim and Bobby Singh are now gearing up for an exclusive showcase at The Bridge. Hosted at a private golf club on the historic Bridgehampton Race Circuit, this invite-only event is essential on the calendar for car collectors and enthusiasts. For the special occasion, Sacrilege Motors is bringing an electrifying exhibit, an EV-converted Porsche 911 America Roadster, one of only 250 ever built. Nicknamed BLACKBIRD, this performance-tuned classic pays homage to the iconic SR-71 Blackbird aircraft. The collaboration between Wagenheim, a finance entrepreneur, and Singh, a Porsche tuning expert, has yielded a Porsche 911 that retains its classic allure while embracing modern electric vehicle technology. Founded in 2020, Sacrilege Motors focuses on restoring 1974-1994 Porsche 911s to Concours-level quality with an all-electric twist. The aim is to merge Porsche's iconic driving dynamics with state-of-the-art electric power, striking a balance between tradition and innovation. While some purists might mock the idea of electrifying a classic 911, the duo behind Sacrilege Motors are firm believers in preserving the car's driving dynamics while reducing its environmental footprint. Dubai's 2022 Icons Of Porsche Festival Attracts Over 15,0...

While most car brands come with a following of dedicated owners and enthusiasts, none quite measure up to the passion that Porsche creates with its versatile line of performance cars and SUVs. Stretching all across the globe, regional groups gather to showcase Porsche examples from every era. The 2022 Icons of Porsche embodies all that the manufacturer represents, featuring a two-day festival with more than 15,000 people doubling last year’s crowd. The expanded 31,000-square-foot site hosts numerous cars, with its Safari Edition theme based around the off-road adventurists of the Middle East. MUST-READ: Porsche’s New ‘Dream Big.’ Art Exhibit In Miami Is Larger Than Life The second stage of the gathering was held at ‘The Slab’ in the Dubai Design District beside the spectacular skyline of downtown Dubai. The event highlights some of Porsche’s most iconic offerings such as the 918 Spyder, 911 GT3 RS, 718 Cayman GT4, 911 Turbo S, and many more. The festival also hosted the regional premiere of the 911 Dakar, 911 GT3 RS, and 911 Sport Classic. Fans were able to experience thrilling rides in the latest Cayenne on a purpose-built off-road track within the event precinct. Along with examples owned by locals, four classic sportscars from the Porsche Museum made the trip from Stuttgart to Dubai for Icons of Porsche this year. The 2023 edition of the Icons of Porsche festival, which will celebrate 75 years of Porsche Sportscars, is planned to be held on 18-19 November 2023. The 8th Luftgekühlt Porsche Event In LA Was A Success

The passion for the air-cooled 911 only grows stronger. Decades have passed since Porsche made the then-controversial switch, transitioning the Porsche 911 from using an air-cooled engine to a water-cooled one instead. However, as the years have gone by, rather than move on from the air-cooled Porsche 911, fans have only let their love for it grow stronger, which is why the Luftgekühlt event, literally translating to “air-cooled” from German, retains such strong attendance. The event celebrated its eighth iteration this past weekend. Founded in Los Angeles by Porsche factory driver Patrick Long, Jeff Zwart, and Howie Idelson, Luftgekühlt 8 was a homecoming for the event, set among 1940s-built warehouses in its hometown. MUST READ: Makes And Movements: Porsche Design GT3 RS Chronograph x Porsche 992 911 GT3 RS Southern California Porsche fans showed strength in numbers, despite a canceled 2020 event and a downsized 2021 event, and some of the most incredible vintage air-cooled Porsches were on display, like a 1956 550A Spyder, a 934/5 by Canepa, and several 70s Carrera RS examples. Fittingly, Porsche Classic made an appearance, with a bare Porsche 356 chassis as part of its display. Owners who want to restore their vintage Porsches were able to see the parts and service offerings Porsche Classic had in its portfolio, as well. With Porsche being one of the most iconic and loved brands in the automotive world, it’s quite unsurprising that the brand’s most iconic creations get so much love. Over 500 People Came To A Former Factory For "The Factor...

The love of Porsche makes a strong community. It’s no secret that Porsche makes some of the most iconic sports cars in the world, and the Porsche 911, for decades has arguably been at the top of that list for the entire automotive industry. With that kind of pull for car enthusiasts around the world, it’s obvious that communities form around the Porsche brand and its cars, and their gatherings are great times with people who are not only Porsche lovers but bonded through their passion for Porsche to become friends. Tom Gädtke of Onassis Porsches has a Porsche event series called Streetart.Motorsport.Revival, and unfortunately he missed the 2021 World Exhibition at the Mies van der Rohe Campus in Krefeld, so the 2022 iteration of the event had to be bigger and better than ever before. MUST READ: The Best Porsches You Can Buy Today For 2022, the event included a reception the day before to kick things off, and the event also broke a rule that stood for events previously, which is having the event at the same location that it was before. According to Gädtke, “the desire to experience the flair from the previous year was simply too great.” The venue was the Rhombuspark, a place that was once the site for the Bergische Eisenwaren plant, a factory that played an instrumental part in the industrialization of Wermelskirchen in Germany. The former factory’s concrete floors housed over 250 Porsches, ranging from the 356 to the latest 911, and the setting made “The Factory” event a truly special show. Beyond the Porsches and the former factory site, the event was made special by the people who shared a bond through their love for Porsche, and Porsche Classic and Porsche Manufaktur catered to them with unique exhibitions, like that of the new Porsche 911 Sport Classic, along with the Porsche 997 911 Sport Classic, as well as a virtual recreation of the special one-off Porsche 996 911 Classic Club Coupe. The Factory was a special event for everyone there, and with a renewed appreciation for the importance of gathering since the pandemic, events like The Factory will continue to be an important part of the car enthusiast’s lifestyle. RM Sotheby's Auctions The Porsche 911 Sally Special For A...

The sale reunited members of the original Cars team who created both the car in the Disney and Pixar film and the life-size Sally Carrera. As we conclude Monterey Car Week 2022 and all of its happenings, the auction stage seemed to be the highlight of the week for luxury auction houses like RM Sotheby’s. Drawing attention as one of the main attractions was The Porsche 911 Sally Special, a commemorative one-of-one build in honor of the 20th anniversary of the motion picture Cars. The Disney and Pixar series began in 2022 with the first appearance of Sally Carrera, originally based on the 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera. Today, the life-size Sally Carrera replica takes shape as a 992 generation Porsche 911 Carrera with subtle hints that direct its design to the automotive-inspired film. MUST-READ: Jerry Seinfeld’s One-Off Factory Built Porsche 718 Spyder Matches His Gulf Racing 1970 Porsche 908/03 Spyder Along with the one-off Porsche 911 example, the auction listing came with a custom Porsche Design Chronograph made specifically to match the configuration of the Sally Carrera spec. An array of smaller items also accompanied the car and watch, including a second set of wheels presented in a bespoke rack, a fitted "Sally Special" car cover, and a book charting the creation of the car from beginning to end. The book itself holds the original sketches from both Porsche and Pixar. The exciting RM Sotheby’s auction for the Porsche 911 Sally Special ended on Saturday evening with the winning bid of $3.6 million (auction hammer price) coming from a telephone bidder. The price was a record for a new Porsche sold at auction, according to the auction house. The entire proceeds of the sale go on to benefit Girls Inc. and USA for UNHCR, helping to inspire all girls and to provide urgent help to nearly 6.2 million refugees. Jerry Seinfeld's One-Off Factory Built Porsche 718 Spyder...

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of its win at Targa Florio, the one-of-one 718 Spyder build shares a display at Monterey Car Week with the Porsche 908/03 Spyder. Being a passionate hobby rather than an obsessive addiction, collecting rare and exclusive automobiles spans into a community of knowledgeable collectors from all walks of life. Whether its an average Joe or world-renowned celebrity, the automotive world presents a level playing field for all to share interests and experiences. One of the most well-regarded Porsche fanatics is American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer Jerry Seinfeld, who owns a collection of some of the rarest and most historic examples to ever leave the factory in Stuttgart, Germany. This year during Monterey Car Week 2022, two incredible Porsche examples from Jerry Seinfeld’s collection will be on scene for all in attendance to enjoy. The two vehicles on display are a Porsche 908/03 Spyder and a very special one-off factory built Porsche 718 Spyder commissioned by Jerry Seinfeld. MUST-READ: Watch Mercedes-Maybach x Virgil Behind The Scenes Of Project-MAYBACH Although the Porsche 908/03 Spyder holds significance as the winner of the Targa Florio race in May 1970, the true star of the show is the matching modern-day 718 Cayman Spyder. The idea behind the build originally came from Jerry, as he wished to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 908/03 Spyder’s win with help from the team at Porsche’s Special Projects division. The one-of-one 718 Spyder features the same Gulf Racing livery as the 1970s race car, using Porsche PTS Gulf Blue as the base layer behind his #12 race number, orange/green highlights, and British flag decal. Every step of the process was overseen by Director of Special Projects Grant Larson, who worked directly with German graphic designer Christoph Neiman on the magnificent livery. As a nod to the winning Porsche 908/03 Spyder, the custom illuminated door sills read “50 Jahre targa Florio 1970-2020” in orange and blue. Completing this build with attention to the smallest of details, Porsche Special Projects configured this 718 Spyder with a VIN that ends in 1-9-7-0. The two Porsche icons part of Jerry Seinfeld’s collection will be on display at the Porsche Zentrum in downtown Monterey from August 18th-20th.
