Porsche Honors The 911 Turbo's 50th Anniversary With Its ...

What better way to commemorate a true sports car legend. Suppose there's one thing that Porsche does better than engineering finely-tuned German sports cars. In that case, it's the ability to develop a timeless color palette of historic shades that are still being chosen for current-day configurations. In addition to breathing new life into iconic hues like Guards Red, Irish Green, and Speed Yellow, Porsche also focuses its efforts on creating new finishes that will carry on the tradition of originality and personalization. This year, Porsche is proud to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 911 Turbo by teaming up with Pantone during New York Fashion Week to reveal its all-new 'Turbonite' color. Porsche recently unveiled a special edition of the 911 Turbo S, along with a Taycan Turbo S, at the 'Porsche x Pantone' event during New York Fashion Week. The highlight of the new finish features gold-tinted details and a satin-matte finish, adding a distinct look to each car. Turbonite is showcased on the rear lettering, window borders, and the exclusive crest, making these models stand out in the Porsche lineup. This special edition build honors the 911 Turbo while commemorating the entire Turbo range as an essential part of Porsche's heritage. In addition to the exterior, Turbonite accents spread to the interior, with the color featured on trim strips, belt straps, and other controls, providing contrast against a black interior. Porsche has also revamped its color program, offering over 170 options through 'Paint to Sample,' allowing customers to choose classic Porsche colors or create personalized shades. This celebration of the 911 Turbo and the introduction of Turbonite perfectly represents Porsche's dedication to individuality. Porsche is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its legendary 911 Turbo with a collaboration with PUMA Motorsport to release an exclusive series of twelve different, automotive-inspired sneaker designs. Each model is limited to 911 units, making them a must-have for sneakerheads and passionate Porsche enthusiasts. The collection includes two highly-anticipated designs, the "Turbo No. 1" and "Turbo 930," which pay homage to iconic Porsche models and the design elements that made them legendary in the world of performance cars. These sneakers, crafted from high-quality materials like full-grain and nubuck leather, offer style and comfort, with details like vintage turbo lettering and the iconic Porsche logo adding a touch of heritage. The "Turbo No. 1" sneaker draws inspiration from the Porsche presented to Louise Piëch on her 70th birthday. The metallic silver sneaker features the iconic red and blue tartan pattern found in the interior of the first 911 Turbo. On the other hand, the "Turbo 930" sneaker pays tribute to Dr. Ferry Porsche's 1976 Turbo, with an Oak Green Metallic finish and a green tartan-patterned interior. Both designs also feature the signature "whale fin" heel section, reminiscent of the rear spoiler and red tail lights of the original cars. A 3D Porsche Crest and a removable plaque with 50th-anniversary lettering also highlight the exclusivity of these sneakers. To make this collection even more unique, Porsche and PUMA have introduced ten exclusive country editions, each inspired by a specific Porsche 911 Turbo model from selected markets worldwide. Unveiled: Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years

2024 marks 50 years since the Porsche introduced the 911 Turbo in 1974. The German carmaker unveiled a new limited-run variant of the current-gen 911 Turbo to celebrate. That is, the 992.1 model, as its 992.2 successor, has yet to be formally announced.  A commemorative theme defines the Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years. While it starts life as a 2025 Turbo S, it sports decals that hark back to the 911 RSR Turbo that debuted at IAA in 1973. That car, shown wearing gray paint with a contrasting white decal, laid the foundation for what would eventually become the production 911 Turbo.  This latest special edition pays tribute to it with Anthracite Grey paint on its rear wing, rear fascia, and air intake grilles. Porsche adds unique styling elements finished in Turbonite, a paint color exclusive to the Turbo models, seen in its rear deck lid, fuel cap, and the brand's crest. Finishing touches like a "1974-2024" badge and LED lights embedded in its doors projecting an image of a turbocharger round out the exterior updates.  Inside, the 70s theme continues with seats featuring MacKenzie tartan inserts. These contrast with Turbonite accents, which match the car's exterior. As with the car's exterior updates, it wears "Turbo 50" badges on its interior and headrests. The German carmaker trimmed pieces such as its A-pillars, sun visors, and roof liner in Race-Tex to add contrasting texture.  As we've seen in several rare Porsche models, the carmaker also offers an optional Heritage Design Package for the Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years. Select it, and the car's base color becomes Aventurine Green Metallic, along with a white contrasting decal set. Buyers can pick between a lollipop-style number for the doors or partially or entirely removed decals. Gold badges adorn the exterior as does the 1964 Porsche crest in its wheel center caps. Inside, the cabin gains even more tartan touches.  Mechanically, the Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years is identical to the current-gen car upon which it's based. This includes its twin-turbocharged 3.7-liter flat-six developing 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque and its subsequent 2.6-second 0-60 time. However, this special edition distinguishes itself by including plenty of standard equipment such as a sports exhaust system, Porsche Active Suspension Management, a front-axle lift, and tinted Dynamic Light System Plus-equipped headlights. Porsche plans to build just 1,974 of these special editions to celebrate the original Turbo's debut, each costing $263,095, including a $1,995 destination fee. With production starting soon, cars are expected to hit dealerships towards the end of this year.

New Porsche 911 World Record Documentary To Premiere At M...

Porsche captures an incredible record-breaking moment. The Porsche 911 is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable and celebrated sports cars, with its unforgettable, essentially unchanged silhouette and formula that hasn’t changed much either in its 60 years of existence. However, the Porsche 911 is not just a favorite of fans worldwide. It’s also one of the most versatile performance cars in the world. Highlighting its versatility prominently is the off-road capable 911 Dakar, inspired by historic 911s that raced the Paris-Dakar Rally with its all-terrain-ready character. However, another Porsche 911 showed off the sports car’s go-anywhere character in an even more dramatic way. Romain Dumas drove it to become the highest earthbound vehicle yet by reaching the summit of the tallest volcano in the world, Ojos de Salado. The feat culminated over four years of effort, with three attempts by two cars, all to achieve the elusive record. Porsche captured the behind-the-scenes moments that led up to the incredible record-setting feat, and the documentary, which will debut at this year’s Monterey Car Week, is named after the car that broke the record. Edith Volcano Ascent is a 50-minute documentary filmed by Niko Myyrä that starts with the creation of the first car, following the driver and the team that came together to beat the previous record held for 16 years. The documentary will premiere at Monterey’s Golden State Theater, with limited tickets available for guests to see the full story behind the Porsche 911’s most unique and epic record-breaking achievement for the first time. In addition to seeing the documentary upon its release, guests of the premiere will receive a piece of memorabilia to mark the special occasion. You can watch the trailer for the documentary now to see the Porsche 911 go where no other car has. View All Porsche 911s For Sale

New One-Off Porsche 911 S/T In PTS "Dani Blue" Revealed

Porsche enthusiasts use color to tell captivating stories. Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur lets collectors and owners turn Porsche’s iconic and unforgettable performance cars into beacons of personal expression and style, and the results are automotive dreams come true. One of the latest is a new example of the Porsche 911 S/T, the highly exclusive driver’s car that pairs peak naturally aspirated power with a manual transmission, classic styling, and pared-back driver-focused elegance. Built to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Porsche 911, only 1,963 of them will be made, and this example adds even more exclusivity, being part of Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program. It’s owned by Kentucky-based horse breeder and passionate Porsche enthusiast Jorge Carnicero. Its most prominent feature is its vivid color, a bespoke shade called Dani Blue, which was developed by Color & Trim designer Daniela Milošević, who the color is also named after. Paired with Graphite leather, the Pepita houndstooth fabric inside the car also features a complementing blue color. The special bespoke 911 S/T will be one of Porsche’s highlights at this year’s Monterey Car Week. Carnicero wanted a blue car, as blue is his favorite color. The development of the color began with four “paint frogs,” or miniature Porsche 911 speed forms painted in iconic blue hues. Enamel Blue was the favorite of the bunch, the color of a Porsche 901 (which would be renamed the 911) from 1964. Enamel Blue was then adapted and redeveloped to be more modern, making the color slightly darker and more vivid, and thus, it became Dani Blue. The interior is full of easter eggs, including an embossed “Dani” on the side of the dashboard, nodding to the namesake woman behind the color. With its commemorative driver’s car excellence, hair-raising performance, and exclusivity that puts it among the most desired Porsche models on the market, the Porsche 911 S/T is truly something special in Porsche’s legendary sports car lineup. However, Jorge Carnicero took it further by creating a one-off masterpiece with his dream color, showing what makes the Sonderwunsch program so special for enthusiasts. Porsche's Head Of Design Celebrates 20 Years Of Automotiv...

Porsche’s head of design sheds light on his 20 years with the legendary brand. Regarding style, it’s hard to match the icon status of many Porsche cars. Its lineup combines futuristic looks with signature details and instantly recognizable features that have been around for decades. Of course, the 911 is one of the sports car world’s most essential legends, and its formula has remained largely unchanged for the 60 years it’s been around. For 20 years, Michael Mauer has served as Porsche’s head of design, and after two decades of having a hand in Porsche’s creations, he’s sat down for an interview about his experience. Only the Boxster, 911, and Cayenne were offered when Mauer started at Porsche. Since then, he has had a significant hand in creating the Panamera, Macan, 918 Spyder, Taycan, Macan Electric, and plenty of other concepts, future models, and new generations of Porsche’s icons. In his time with the legendary manufacturer, digitalization has changed and evolved the design process. However, for Michael Mauer, the human factor in automotive design is still paramount to what makes Porsche’s cars unique. Three of Michael Mauer’s favorite projects during his time at Porsche are the Taycan, one of the most ambitious projects in recent Porsche history as the manufacturer’s first all-electric model; the first generation of the Macan, with a simple look and the opportunity to work with a new platform; and the 997-generation Porsche 911, which was the first 911 that he was fully involved in. As for the future of Porsche, Michael Mauer believes that the importance of driver-focused design will prevent cars from becoming excessively touchscreen-heavy, and head-up displays with voice control are also changing how infotainment is arranged. Going forward, he says that Porsche will continue to be evolutionary and futuristic while paying respectful homage to the timeless classics the manufacturer is known and loved for. The recent Mission X concept car exemplifies the approach. The Porsche Spyder 551, shown in “Porsche Unseen,” is the manifestation of Michael Mauer’s perfect dream car with its thrilling, purist-oriented design. It’s what Mauer would bring forth if he, like Ferry Porsche, decided to bring his dream car to life. However, the Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder RS is also Mauer’s dream car. With its agility and compact dimensions, it’s a thriller that’s easy to enjoy, like many of Porsche’s most celebrated icons should be. View All Porsches For Sale Image Source: Porsche
