Porsche Celebrates 75 Years Of Motorsport With The New 550 J By Hedley Studios

By Tyler Rampersaud –  September 16, 2026

New Porsche 550 J By Hedley Studios Unveiled

Hedley Studios is known for creating beautiful vehicles that recreate historical icons, slightly shrink them in size, and imbue them with all-electric powertrains. Meanwhile, their creations are made with artisan craftsmanship, a wide range of personalization options, impeccable accuracy to the originals, and limited quantities that make them truly collector-worthy. The latest creation is the new Porsche 550 J, a celebration of the 75th anniversary of Porsche motorsport that recreates the Porsche 550 Spyder. The 550 J is roughly 80 percent the size of the original 550 Spyder, which is one of the most influential and foundational race cars in Porsche’s history. In 1954 at the Carrera Panamericana, Hans Herrmann and Jaroslav Juhan competed in two 550 Spyders, earning third and fourth place overall, separated by only 36 seconds across almost 2,000 miles and five days of racing. That achievement was what spurred Porsche to use the “Carrera” moniker for cars afterward, which it still does today. The Hedley Studios Porsche 550 J is limited to only 250 examples and is an officially licensed reimagination of the original car. It was created with the help of Porsche’s corporate archives and guidance from Porsche personnel throughout the project. Powered by a 48-volt electric drivetrain, the 550 J boasts 8 kW as standard and 16 kW with the available RS package. The top speed of the car is just under 50 mph, and it’s aimed at collectors and enthusiasts, lacking road-legal status. <- Gallery -> For the collectors who will own the new Porsche 550 J from Hedley Studios, the 250 examples enjoy virtually limitless configuration and design possibilities, including curations of historical and contemporary colors and liveries inspired by motorsport legends. Each example is handcrafted in Bicester, England, by Hedley Studios, and faithfully reimagines the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder, reviving its cherished legacy and undeniable influence. By Tyler Rampersaud –  September 16, 2026

New Colors Revealed For 2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric

Over 20 years after the Cayenne was first introduced, revolutionizing Porsche as a manufacturer when it did, Porsche revolutionized the Cayenne itself, introducing an all-electric version of it with unprecedented levels of power, cutting-edge technology, and engineering that takes full advantage of the BEV format to evolve the Cayenne nameplate as a luxury performance SUV. Now, the Porsche Cayenne Electric is receiving new improvements for the 2027 model year, including new colors and new luxury features. Elevating the luxury of the 2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric, the option of electrically operated doors has become available. With this feature, pulling the door handle automatically opens or closes all four doors. For the driver, putting on the seat belt or pressing the brake pedal can close the door automatically as well. The system is designed to operate on inclines, and sensors are in place to stop the movement of the doors if an obstacle or person is detected, including if a vehicle is approaching. Manual operation of the doors is possible at all times. An optional massaging seat is also available for the 2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric, and it can be combined with music to create an immersive listening experience. Along with the musical experience, five massage programs are available for comfort and relaxation. <- Gallery -> As personalization becomes increasingly important to drivers, the 2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric joins Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’s Paint to Sample program, giving customers the opportunity to choose from over 100 total paint colors within Porsche’s impressive Paint to Sample library. Meanwhile, the interior is enhanced for the 2027 model year with available leather accents and stitching in Delgada Green and several other new personalization options. Pricing remains the same for the new 2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric as in 2026, and deliveries for the new model are set to begin in the first quarter of 2027. The Best Porsche 911 Dakars You Can Buy Right Now

The Best Porsche 911 Dakars You Can Buy Right Now

Porsche has a long history of taking the 911 into places it probably was never supposed to go. From the Paris-Dakar Rally to the legendary Rothmans 959 race car of the 1980s, those cars helped inspire the 911 Dakar. Built on the 992-generation 911, the Dakar quickly became one of Porsche's most sought-after modern models, with all 2,500 examples selling out. As demand continues to grow, so does interest in finding one for sale. These examples come from Porsche’s Stuttgart factory and are available in some of the brand’s most desirable finishes, including cars equipped with the exclusive Roughroads design package. The package pays tribute to the Rothmans 959 that helped inspire the Dakar in the first place. The factory lift kit gives the 911 a more aggressive stance while making room for two-tone five-spoke wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. And for owners who want to take things even further, Porsche offers a range of additional accessories to personalize the car. Inside, the 911 Dakar still feels like a Porsche, but there are plenty of details that remind you this car was built for more than just paved roads. Alcantara and leather cover the cabin, while the digital displays and familiar Porsche controls keep everything feeling modern and driver-focused. There are also plenty of subtle touches that tie the interior back to Porsche’s racing history. Power comes from a twin-turbocharged flat-six producing 473 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with Porsche’s quick-shifting dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel-drive system designed to handle much more than a typical 911 ever would. The Dakar can reach 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 149 mph, impressive numbers for a car that’s equally at home on dirt and pavement. With only 2,500 examples built, the 911 Dakar was always going to be a special 911. Now that production has ended and allocations are sold out, finding the right one has become even more important. 1-of-1 Porsche 918 Coupé Makes a Rare Appearance at Salon Privé

By Khris Bharath –  September 04, 2026

The World’s Only Porsche 918 Coupé Makes a Rare Appearance at Salon Privé

A Sonderwunsch Porsche 918 rolled onto the lawn at the ongoing 2026 Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace in England, ending more than a decade of obscurity. Ordered new by Ferdinand Piëch, former chairman of the Volkswagen Group and the man responsible for the Bugatti Veyron, the one-off is making an exceptionally rare formal public appearance. Salon Privé describes it as the world’s only 2015 Porsche 918 Coupé and says it is believed to have been seen in public just once before. The stunning example seen here features Paint to Sample Oxford Blue with Arancio orange across the wheels, front intakes, lower body accents, and engine bay, mirroring Piëch’s Veyron Super Sport. Inside, the blue-and-orange theme continues with Tangerine and Imperial Blue leather, while the headrests retain their “918 Spyder” embroidery despite the car’s fixed-roof configuration. The theme appears to have continued within the family collection. Subsequently, a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport associated with the Piëch family was similarly specified in Royal Blue Carbon with Tangerine orange, suggesting the combination became something of a family signature.  The roof is where this 918 stops being a normal Spyder (the badge on the back still reads 918 Spyder). Where every other example features two removable carbon-fiber roof panels stored in the front luggage compartment, Piëch’s car replaces them with a single fixed panel. Salon Privé consequently describes it as the world’s only 918 Coupé. Porsche also replaced the Acid Green normally used to highlight the E-Hybrid hardware with orange, while finishing the brake calipers in Oxford Blue instead. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Salon Privé (@salonpriveuk)   Such bespoke commissions run through Sonderwunsch, Porsche's special-wishes program, which has since produced everything from reimagined Flachbau bodies to hand-applied Chromaflair paintwork and a growing catalogue of factory one-offs. In 2013, though, asking Porsche to fundamentally alter the roof configuration of its new hybrid hypercar was an extraordinary request from almost anyone. Piëch, of course, was instrumental in shaping the modern performance car landscape. He worked on the 917 program in the 1970s, drove the quattro program at Audi in the '80s, then took control of the Volkswagen Group and brought marques like Bugatti, Bentley and Lamborghini into its portfolio in the '90s. Back in 1997, on a train between Tokyo and Nagoya, Piëch famously sketched an 18-cylinder engine on the back of an envelope. The idea would eventually evolve into the Quad-turbocharged W16 that powered the Veyron, a car engineered to produce 1,000 horsepower and exceed 250 mph. Bugatti built the F.K.P. Hommage in his memory this January. That appetite for engineering excellence helps explain the specification of this 918. Our Market Spotlight on the 918 tracks where conventional examples sit, but Piëch’s car exists beyond those usual comparisons. A 204-mile Weissach example reached $3,465,000 on duPont REGISTRY Live in July, yet there is no direct precedent for a factory fixed-roof car with this provenance. Still retained by the Piëch family, it remains one of the few 918s the market has never had the chance to define. View All Porsche 918s for Sale  Images: @salonpriveuk

Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge: The Area West Winners

Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge: The Area West Winners

Now in its sixth year, the Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge asks Porsche Centers across the United States to do what they are uniquely equipped to do: take a classic Porsche that is due for expert attention and return it to the road. The work is carried out by Porsche-trained technicians with a catalog of roughly 85,000 Porsche Classic Genuine Parts behind them, and the eligibility list is deliberately broad. Entries can include the 356 and 914, six generations of the 911, transaxle cars such as the 944 and 928, and modern classics including the Boxster, Cayman, and first-generation Cayenne, provided the vehicle is a street production model. Each participating center enters one of three categories. Individualization draws on the spirit of Porsche's Sonderwunsch program and rewards imaginative use of Porsche Genuine Parts. Preservation favors repairing over replacing, retaining as much original material as possible while improving how the car functions. Restoration is the traditional path, returning a car to like-new condition in line with original production specifications. A fourth honor, People's Choice, is decided by public vote rather than by the judging panel. Area West judging took place on August 14 at Werks Reunion in Monterey, California, during one of the busiest weeks on the collector car calendar. Four Porsche Centers came away with awards, and the three category winners advance as national finalists to the finals in Atlanta on October 9 and 10. Individualization: Porsche Tucson, 1973 914 GALLERY-EMBED Porsche Tucson took the Individualization award with a 914 that arrived as a gutted rolling chassis sourced locally. The team stripped and sandblasted the shell to expose its true condition, removed corrosion, and completed extensive metalwork through the body and floor pans before fitting steel GT-style flares along with handmade front and rear bumpers and spoilers. The body was widened by an additional 1¾ inches along the upper fender line, work that required careful fabrication to keep the proportions consistent from front to rear. The finished car wears a custom-mixed Adriatic Blue over the upper and lower surfaces, with bumpers and trim in 70 percent gloss black. The bigger undertaking was mechanical. Converting the chassis for six-cylinder power called for frame gussets, an oil tank, and a dedicated engine mounting system. The rebuilt 2.4-liter engine runs S-spec camshafts, high-compression pistons, Weber 40 IDA carburetors, PerTronix ignition, coated headers, and a sport muffler, and it sits in an engine bay finished with a painted shroud, zinc-coated hardware, and a handmade wiring harness. The rebuilt 901 side-shift transmission received new synchronizers, engagement teeth, operating sleeves, and a reinforced intermediate bearing support, while the suspension and brakes were rebuilt around new bushings, bearings, Bilstein shocks, and rebuilt 911 calipers. Inside are a custom five-gauge dashboard, redesigned seats in black leather with blue stitching, color-matched belts, a roll bar, woven leather dash trim, and a handmade aluminum shifter. Porsche Tucson also made the build a public project, hosting an event at the halfway mark and another for the final reveal, and documenting progress at least twice a month for more than 6,000 followers under the #PorscheChallenge2026 hashtag. @porschetucson Preservation: Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas, 1996 911 Turbo GALLERY-EMBED The 993 Turbo that Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas entered arrived wearing years of aftermarket modification in the tuner idiom of the early 2000s. The category rewards restraint, and the team's approach was to reverse those changes rather than replace what lay underneath. The project was introduced to more than 120 VIP guests at a kickoff event in January 2025, with the transformation carried out in public view. To protect original finishes, the undercarriage and suspension were dry ice blasted, lifting decades of grime without disturbing factory coatings. The aftermarket front bumper, rear spoiler, wheels, graphics, and aged paint protection film all came off, returning the original bodywork and paint to view. The interior was fully disassembled so the original carpets and leather could be steam cleaned and reconditioned, and the factory seats, belts, steering wheel, shifter, and parking brake assembly went back in as aftermarket carbon trim, aluminum gauge surrounds, pedal covers, door sill trim, and the custom audio system came out. The factory speaker configuration was restored, with a Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus system added for modern connectivity behind a period-correct face. Mechanically, the car received a full engine, transmission, and driveline service, along with the reinstallation of its original exhaust, valve covers, and oil lines. Brakes were renewed with new pads, rotors, and lines and refinished calipers, and the intercooler and fan shroud were refinished in correct factory colors. A precision corner balance, ride height adjustment, and four-wheel alignment followed. Every original body panel was retained through paintless dent removal, all glass was polished rather than replaced, and a multi-stage paint correction revived the factory finish. More than 200 miles of road testing preceded the unveiling to a crowd of over 180 guests in the Gaudin showroom. @gaudinporschelv Restoration: Porsche San Francisco, 2003 911 C4S GALLERY-EMBED Porsche San Francisco chose its subject with an argument in mind. The 996 is the entry point into air-cooled-adjacent 911 ownership for a lot of newer enthusiasts, and this 2003 C4S Tiptronic was selected to show what the generation is capable of when it receives proper attention. The car is on its seventh owner and spent most of its life outside the dealer network before returning in May 2023 with a recurring check engine light. Diagnosed with an internal engine concern, it was bought as a retirement project and then sat under a cover beside a house for three years. The engine and transmission came out in front of a live audience during the project unveiling. With the engine partially disassembled, removal of the bank two cylinder head revealed a carbon pattern on cylinders five and six consistent with coolant in the combustion chamber. Inspection found no cracks in the head and no bore scoring or cracks in the cylinder walls, so the engine was reassembled with cam timing set, new spark plugs, latest-revision ignition coils, a new air-oil separator, and a new water pump and drive belt. Once reinstalled, the misfire was confirmed corrected. From there the car received new shock absorbers, strut mounts, bump stops, and dust boots, a four-wheel alignment, rebuilt and refinished calipers with new Porsche script, and new discs, pads, sensors, and hardware. A PCCM+ upgrade required removing the single-DIN radio and relocating the A/C control panel to the base of the console, and the center console itself was replaced after its rubberized coating began peeling. The headlights were restored through a multi-step process of chemical cleaning, progressive sanding from 800 through 3000 grit, polishing, and UV and ceramic coating, while cracked taillights and the spoiler lip were replaced. Full exterior paint restoration and an interior detail completed the car. The team deserves specific mention. Gold Meister and classic certified technician Noah Saldena led the project alongside Gunter Feldmeier, with engine work performed by first-year technician and PTAP graduate Nicholas Cappa, who also handled the PCCM+ installation and console replacement. Dominick Eldridge covered suspension and lighting, Jonathan Battad handled wheels and tires, and the parts team led by Kalvin Kao sourced the correct components throughout. @porschesanfrancisco People's Choice: Porsche Santa Clarita, 1991 911 Cabriolet GALLERY-EMBED Public vote went to Porsche Santa Clarita for a 964 Carrera 2 Cabriolet conceived as an art car. The reference point is the 1970 Porsche 917 that ran at Le Mans in what became known as the Hippie livery, hand-painted with spray cans in the paddock to disguise lightweight fiberglass bodywork. A practical solution turned into one of the most recognizable race cars ever built, and that idea of paint as part of the story shaped this project. Santa Clarita brought in Los Angeles artist RISK to treat the car as a canvas, with the artwork as the centerpiece rather than a decorative finish. The bodywork underneath is a RAUH-Welt Begriff build, chosen for the way Akira Nakai's approach combines craftsmanship and individuality while staying rooted in Porsche culture. Custom RWB x Rotiform wheels sit under the widebody kit, wrapped in 305/30/18 front and 335/30/18 rear tires, with KW V3 coilovers, a 964 adjustable rear spring plate, and a 993 Big Red brake kit with matching booster and master cylinder. The mechanical brief favored feel over peak output. The original 3.6-liter flat six was rebuilt with oversized valves and paired with a lightweight single-mass flywheel for sharper response, breathing through RSR headers and an RSR-style exhaust. Inside, custom magenta and ivory leather, a Porsche sport steering wheel, custom gauges, PCCM infotainment, and a premium sound system with subwoofer round out the cabin, while retro G-body turn signals nod to earlier 911s outside. @porschesantaclarita What Comes Next Four very different interpretations of the same brief, from a fully fabricated 914 to a 993 Turbo returned to factory specification, a 996 given the attention its generation has long deserved, and a 964 turned into a moving piece of art. Porsche Tucson, Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas, and Porsche San Francisco now advance to the national finals in Atlanta on October 9 and 10, where the category champions and the Grand National Champion will be decided.

A black 997 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 with red and white stripes drives on a winding road bordered by greenery and trees.

Mezger's Masterpiece: The 997 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0

The Porsche 997 GT3 RS was already a track-focused icon before Porsche Motorsport decided to up the ante with the limited-production RS 4.0. While the 997.1 GT3 RS came with a 3.6L engine and the 997.2 GT3 RS bumped displacement to 3.8L, it was the 4.0L variant that truly cemented its place in Porsche history. Launched in 2011, the GT3 RS 4.0 was a swan song for the 997 generation and a final farewell to the legendary Mezger engine in its most extreme naturally aspirated form. Just 600 examples were assembled and rolled off the production line in Stuttgart, making it rarer than most collectors and enthusiasts might assume. Compared to the 3.8, the 4.0 was more powerful, more responsive, and even more track-ready, thanks to a long list of motorsport-derived parts and lightweight tricks. All Porsche GT3 RS Inventory Mezger's Influence At the heart of Porsche's legendary GT car is the 4.0-liter flat-six engine, the largest displacement Mezger engine Porsche ever put into a street car. German Engineer Hans Mezger's influence traces back to Porsche's motorsport programs, including Le Mans and F1, earning a renowned reputation for bulletproof reliability and high-revving performance. Hans himself is a mythical figure in Porsche engineering, having developed everything from the 917's flat-12 to the turbocharged F1 engines of the 1980s. The 997 GT3 RS 4.0 is arguably his ultimate street-legal expression, a high-revving naturally aspirated masterpiece that showcases how race engineering can translate into everyday usability. Unlike modern turbocharged 911s, this one truly relies on the driver, with every gear change and throttle blip connecting you directly to the engine's mechanical soul. Porsche Motorsport Styling Aesthetically, the 997 GT3 RS 4.0 features subtle but meaningful improvements over the standard 3.8 version. Either red or black graphics complemented the white-only launch color, and the front dive planes were added to increase downforce at higher speeds on the straights. Lightweight carbon fiber parts, including the front fenders, hood, and bucket seats, helped shave precious pounds off to achieve its 2,998-pound curb weight. The tall rear wing, center-lock wheels, and cup car-inspired widebody delivered both serious track presence and functional aero. Even down to the small RS 4.0 badges on the rear and on the door decals, everything about this car screamed lightweight precision. Track-Ready Interior Inside, the 997 GT3 RS 4.0 carried over the no-nonsense cabin from the 3.8 but turned up the motorsport cues a notch. The factory roll cage, bucket seats with racing harness upgrades, and Alcantara everywhere created a race-ready feel while keeping just enough creature comforts to make it streetable for those Friday commutes to the office. Owners who opted for the Clubsport Package got a fire extinguisher and battery kill switch, while the lightweight door pulls reminded drivers that weight savings mattered more than convenience. Despite its raw personality, the layout is quintessential Porsche: logical, clean, and focused entirely on the driving experience. Naturally Aspirated Power & Precision Under the rear decklid sits the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six, making 500 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. It revs to a screaming 8,500 rpm, and all that power is sent directly to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. There's no PDK, no turbo lag, just pure, linear power and a perfectly balanced chassis. Porsche reworked the suspension and used components from the GT2 RS to improve performance. With a Nürburgring lap time of just over 7:27, it was one of the fastest production cars of its time and remains a benchmark for what a pure driver's 911 can be. Even today, the sound and feel of that Mezger engine remain unmatched. Limited Production & Soaring Value With only 600 examples produced worldwide, the 997 GT3 RS 4.0 has become one of the most collectible modern Porsches on the market today. It marked the end of the Mezger era and the last manual-only GT3 RS, two key factors that have helped drive values steadily upward. In July 2025, an 842-mile example sold for a record-breaking $1.26 million at auction, confirming that this car is the holy grail for both air-cooled purists and water-cooled warriors. As more collectors recognize the 997 generation's mixture of analog feel and modern performance, the RS 4.0's place in Porsche's archives only becomes more secure. Whether you see it as a museum piece or the ultimate weekend track weapon, there's no denying this Mezger masterpiece has earned its legendary status. All Porsche GT3 RS Inventory Source: Porsche

448-Mile Purple Carbon 2005 Porsche Carrera GT For Sale

448-Mile Purple Carbon 2005 Porsche Carrera GT For Sale

When the Porsche Carrera GT debuted in 2004, it represented a completely different direction for the Stuttgart brand. Built around a carbon-fiber monocoque and powered by a Formula 1-derived V10, it became a halo supercar for Porsche. The only downside was that the Carrera GT was surprisingly straightforward to personalize, with buyers having only a handful of exterior colors and interior combinations to choose from. Today, with the Carrera GT firmly cemented as a blue-chip collector car, Porsche is giving owners the chance to revisit the configuration process with Porsche Sonderwunsch and Porsche Classic, and personalize their cars in ways that weren't possible when they were new.The team at Merit Partners of Atlanta, GA, is excited to showcase this 2005 Porsche Carrera GT as one of those bespoke factory re-comissions, now for sale on duPont REGISTRY. Stripped down in Stuttgart to its bare carbon monocoque, body panels find their way to the paint booth while all interior pieces are delivered to the upholstery department. Venturing outside Porsche’s standard five factory colors for the Carrera GT, the owner chose a fully exposed Amethyst Purple-tinted carbon fiber, setting its lightweight carbon fiber construction on center stage. The headlight cleaners, wheels, engine cover, side blinkers, grilles, and badging were also refinished in Slate Grey GALLERY-EMBED Inside, the cabin received the same bespoke treatment from the Sonderwunsch team, layering every inch of the interior in Slate Grey Alcantara and Speed yellow stitching, extending to the steering wheel, doors, A-pillars, and lower dash. Matte carbon fiber replaces nearly all of the interior trim, including the Carrera GT's signature wooden manual shift knob. The carbon bucket seats have been completely redesigned with Slate Grey seat bolsters and headrests, Slate Grey Alcantara inserts, and Speed Yellow seatbelts. That exact styling finds its way into the frunk, where the Carrera GT’s removable roof is stored. The most impressive work is completed in the engine bay, where an extensive, factory-backed engine overhaul effectively resets this Carrera GT to a documented “zero-mile condition.” The engine powering Porsche’s halo supercar is a 5.7L naturally aspirated V10 derived from a cancelled Formula 1 project and a shelved Le Mans prototype, producing 612 horsepower and a screaming exhaust pitch. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, it remains one of Porsche’s greatest analog supercars. Showing just 448 miles since its completion, this 2005 Porsche Carrera GT from Merit Partners is now for sale on duPont REGISTRY by clicking the link below. View Listing
