Recently, Red Bull Athlete Dario Costa completed an unthinkable stunt in Afyonkarahisar, Turkey, piloting a Zivko Edge 540 airplane to land it on a container car of a moving train, and becoming the first pilot to ever do so. With no benchmark to guide the technique or practice of such a feat, help was needed to bring the ambition to life, and that’s where Rimac came in.
The electric hypercar manufacturer was an unlikely hero, utilizing its Nevera R hypercar in a crucial role during the three-day test program that took place in Croatia’s Pula Airport. Serving as a moving reference platform, the limited-production, groundbreaking hypercar’s incredible acceleration ability and performance were paramount in bringing the stunt together.
Rimac didn’t stop there, though, as its engineering expertise helped in engineering the seat of the aircraft, and the partnership is just the beginning of joined forces between Rimac and Costa. Two months after the stunt was completed in February, Rimac has now released an extended behind-the-scenes video, showing in detail how its hypercars were involved in the process.
The film shows Costa with Rimac at its Zagreb, Croatia campus, and shows incredible moments like the Nevera R being driven in an ultra-precise straight line at 87 mph in reverse by Bugatti Rimac Chief Development Driver Miroslav Zrnčević, and a tour of the facility where both the Nevera R and the Bugatti Tourbillon, two singular examples of unprecedented performance, were present. As the partnership continues between Rimac and Dario Costa, innovation, ambition, and skill will lead to more amazing achievements.
