Founder and CEO Mate Rimac personally handed over a Nevera R to Sho_billions1, whom Rimac himself had introduced as the model’s first customer in a short Instagram post back in October 2024. Two years on, the big day finally came, with the reveal taking place at Rimac’s Croatian factory. He also thanked Frank Heyl, Mate Rimac, and the team at Bugatti Rimac for bringing his vision to life.
Visually, the carbon weave features prominently under a deep gloss finish, with turquoise accents on the badge, wheel spokes, and cabin. The doubled three-spoke wheels reference Rimac’s three-phase motors, continuing a subtle design theme throughout the car.
Revealed in August 2024, the Nevera R was conceived to be a more track-focused variant compared with the standard model. The original Nevera combined incredible performance with the comfort and practicality expected from a grand tourer.
However, customers wanted a lighter, faster hypercar with sharper cornering ability and stronger lateral performance, and Rimac answered with the Nevera R. Its four motors, one at each corner, produce a combined 2,107 horsepower. The standard Nevera already packs 1,914 horsepower, although both versions deliver 1,726 pound-feet of torque. The Nevera R features a smaller 108-kWh battery that replaces the standard 120-kWh unit and helps remove roughly 77 pounds from the car’s 5,000+ pounds curb weight.
Apart from the power upgrade, Rimac also sharpened the steering, retuned the car’s torque-vectoring system, and added EVO2 carbon-ceramic brakes for repeated hard use. The fixed rear wing and larger diffuser create 15 percent more downforce (882 pounds) while improving aerodynamic efficiency by 10 percent. Put everything together, and the R develops five percent more lateral grip, reduces understeer by 10 percent, and laps Nardò’s handling track 3.8 seconds faster.
The original Nevera appeared on our 2021 cover before setting a production-EV speed benchmark at 258 mph, breaking 23 records and claiming Goodwood’s production-car hillclimb record. In July last year, the Nevera R returned to testing and broke another 24 performance records. Its zero-to-249-to-zero-mph run took 25.79 seconds, which beat the standard Nevera by a substantial 4.14 seconds. Rimac also recorded 60 mph in 1.66 seconds, a 7.90-second quarter-mile, and a 268.2-mph top speed during that program.
That moment at the top proved brief, because records at this level rarely survive for long. Koenigsegg reclaimed the acceleration benchmark in a month, while Yangwang surpassed Rimac’s EV top-speed figure in August. Rimac will build 40 Nevera Rs, including ten separately specified Founder’s Edition cars. The Nevera R starts around $2.5 million, and its output places it firmly on our list of the world’s most powerful production cars.
