Rolls-Royce Recaps The Phantom's 100 Years Of Celebrity O...

Rolls-Royce tells the century-long story of the Phantom. Very few automotive manufacturers in the history of the industry have been around for a hundred years, let alone a legendary flagship model nameplate. That is, however, the case for the Rolls-Royce Phantom, which has represented the pinnacle of the brand’s ultra-luxury approach to design, engineering, and craftsmanship for 100 years since first being introduced in 1925. Throughout that time, the Rolls-Royce Phantom has remained a mainstay in pop culture and a shining symbol of automotive excellence throughout the industry, and Rolls-Royce is honoring the incredible centenary by telling the story of the Phantom’s cherished legacy. Nicknamed ‘the Spartan General,’ Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, who played an instrumental role during World War II, used two Rolls-Royce Phantoms, not only as his personal transport, but as a symbol of solidity and authority during the dark times of the war. A 1936 Phantom III was his day-to-day car, which was used to bring Winston Churchill, General Eisenhower, and even King George VI to planning sessions in the lead-up to D-Day. Another Phantom III assigned to the Chief of the Imperial General Staff was also used during wartime, with prominent passengers in that car, as well. The Royal Family of the United Kingdom made use of the Rolls-Royce Phantom throughout the flagship’s history, as well. The Duke of Edinburgh’s car was the first Rolls-Royce Phantom IV chassis, with the codename “Maharajah of Nabha” to keep it secret during development. The “Majarajah” car remains in active service at the Royal Mews today. Other Royal Phantoms include another Phantom IV, two Vs, and two VIs. However, the Phantom V has an impact in the UK beyond the Royal Family, with John Lennon of the Beatles famously commissioning one, originally in all black. However, the car’s most famous appearance came from a rebirth in 1967, when it was repainted yellow with an intricate floral motif. Silent film stars owned Phantoms, including Mary Pickford’s, which had a secret compartment for alcohol during the Prohibition years, and old Hollywood legends like Greta Garbo and Fred Astaire had Phantoms, as well. However, an incredibly notable appearance for the Phantom on screen was in Goldfinger, where the 007 film’s titular villain drove one to carry out his gold smuggling scheme. Over the years, Rolls-Royce would make 12 appearances in 007 films. The Yellow Rolls-Royce, a film that also premiered in 1964, also starred a Phantom as the connecting thread between its anthology of three stories. Elvis Presley also famously owned a Phantom, which was commissioned with touches reminiscent of his rock’n’roll legend status. In the 2000s, Goodwood became a new home for Rolls-Royce, and with it came an entirely new Phantom, one that has since transformed and become an even more permanent fixture in pop culture as an ultra-luxury car, with appearances in music videos like Snoop Dogg’s Drop It Like It’s Hot, and Drake’s Started From The Bottom. Brands like Hermès and visionary haute couture designers like Iris Van Herpen have used the Phantom as a canvas for stunning expression and avant-garde beauty, and its incredible craftsmanship and opulence have served as inspiration for fans and the basis for stunning commissions, one-offs, and luxurious automotive expressions. With over a hundred years of history, the Rolls-Royce Phantom shines as one of the greatest aspirational automotive icons and a representation of the best the luxury automotive industry has to offer throughout that entire century. Rolls-Royce Unveils New One-Off Phantom Cherry Blossom

Rolls-Royce celebrates an icon of natural beauty in Japan. Japan is a country with rich heritage and traditions, as well as beauty in both modern and ancient forms. However, one of the most prominent symbols of Japan’s natural beauty and tradition for much of its history has been the cherry blossom, and when Sakura flowers begin to bloom, it ushers in a season and the tradition of ‘Hanami,’ the viewing of the cherry blossoms in the spring that is anticipated each year by many. As Sakura season dawns this year, the gorgeous pink flowers are beginning to be seen not only in Japan but in other regions where cherry trees are planted for their temporal beauty around the world, and to celebrate the legendary Sakura and the traditions that surround it, a one-of-one Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended commission has been created by a Japanese client and Rolls-Royce Bespoke with stunning details echoing the natural beauty of Japanese cherry trees. Dubbed the Phantom ‘Cherry Blossom,’ the commission captures the relatively small moment that is the beauty of Hanami in a permanent form, and the work to create the vehicle started three years ago. The centerpiece is a stunning Bespoke Starlight Headliner, which combines the stunning signature lights with a painstakingly-created embroidery comprised of over 250,000 stitches. The embroidery depicts a cherry bough littered with delicate white blossoms. The embroidery continues onto the door panels and Privacy Suite partition, and the sculptural 3D embroidery technique used is a Rolls-Royce first. Continuing the incredible attention to detail in the Phantom Cherry Blossom’s luxury, the umbrellas stored inside the doors feature a similar falling petal motif. In addition, the exterior, whose subtlety elegantly conceals the opulence of the interior, makes small hints to what the car looks like inside with its Crystal and Arctic White color scheme, which is divided by a hand-painted coachline with a delicate and meticulously created cherry blossom motif. With stunning craftsmanship and attention to detail, and beautifully elegant design, the new Rolls-Royce Phantom Cherry Blossom commission is a stunning homage to an icon of Japanese springtime and natural beauty. Rolls-Royce Bespoke Unveils The New Phantom Dragon

Rolls-Royce Bespoke ends the Year of the Dragon with a bang. The Lunar New Year is approaching, heralding the end of the Year of the Dragon in 2024, and the beginning of the Year of the Snake. However, as the Year of the Dragon comes to a close, Rolls-Royce Bepsoke has unveiled a stunning new commission, which celebrates the Year of the Dragon and its incredible influence in Ancient Chinese Culture and throughout East Asia. The stunning project emerged from the new Rolls-Royce Private Office Shanghai, and was commissioned by a client in China as Rolls-Royce’s latest masterpiece: the Phantom Dragon, a one-of-one Phantom Extended Wheelbase whose creation kicks off Rolls-Royce’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Phantom nameplate. The commission combines Rolls-Royce’s creative artistry, stunning craftsmanship ability, and ultra-luxurious materials with the dragon's rich history and cultural significance. Specifically, the vehicle depicts the over 3,000-year-old legend of two dragons who shared a divine pearl given to them for protecting the human world. The legend is cherished for its depiction of kindness and generosity. The dragons are a symbol of power and fortune, and the pearl symbolizes purity and perfection. The Gallery features an artwork made of 297 pieces consisting of four different wood species, depicting the swirling dragons guarding the pearl, depicted by the clock in the dashboard. Smoked Eucalyptus, Sycamore, Ash Burr, and Black Bolivar create the scene. Ardent Red and black leather enhance the interior, with other touches including the client’s family name embroidered in Ancient Chinese embroidery and a custom Starlight Headliner consisting of 1,344 lights with 24 “shooting stars.” The elegantly understated exterior, meanwhile, is finished in Iced Diamond Black, with a “shimmering satin” finish, beautifully concealing the opulence inside. As a stunning celebration of Chinese culture and the Year of the Dragon, the new Rolls-Royce Phantom Dragon ends the Year of the Dragon spectacularly, shows off the Private Office Shanghai’s stunning bespoke ability, and kicks off a year of celebration for 100 years of the Rolls-Royce Phantom. Rolls-Royce Celebrates The 100th Anniversary Of The Phantom

Rolls-Royce celebrates a century of flagship excellence. Known for creating some of the world’s most desirable and opulent ultra-luxury vehicles, Rolls-Royce has a long, storied history of creating over-the-top masterpieces with elegant design, painstaking engineering, artisan craftsmanship and fine materials. However, the pinnacle of those aspects has, for 100 years, worn the Phantom nameplate, as 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the Phantom legacy, a milestone anniversary for the flagship nameplate of the historic manufacturer. Now in its eighth generation, the Rolls-Royce Phantom has for 100 years represented the pinnacle of Rolls-Royce’s ability to construct the ultimate luxury vehicle, with each generation showing major leaps in technology and features. Today, the Phantom prominently serves as Rolls-Royce’s greatest blank canvas for Bespoke commissions, becoming a vessel for personal expression, artistic excellence, and nods to history. Creations like the one-off Phantom Syntopia, inspired by Iris Van Herpen’s haute couture, the Phantom Extended ‘Year of the Dragon,’ celebrating Chinese culture and the Lunar New Year, and the Phanom Scintilla, inspired by Rolls-Royce’s own Spirit of Ecstasy, show off the immense breadth of Rolls-Royce Bespoke’s potential. In the early 1920’s Henry Royce realized that the Silver Ghost, Rolls-Royce’s ‘best car in the world’ introduced in 1906, had reached its full potential, calling for a replacement. That replacement, introduced in 1925, was the New Phantom, using a name coined by Rolls-Royce’s Commercial Managing Director at the time, Claude Johnson. The first Phantom to feature a V12 engine was the Phantom III, introduced in the early 1930s, after which World War II changed the world surrounding Rolls-Royce, and nearly extinguished the Phantom legacy. However, the Royal Household tasked Rolls-Royce with creating a one-off formal limousine in 1950, and when other heads of state asked the same, the Phantom IV saw 18 examples made. The Phantom V was launched in 1959, and became the Phantom VI, the last body-on-chassis Rolls-Royce model, whose last example was was delivered to the Sultan of Brunei in 1993. The Rolls-Royce Phantom we know today was introduced when Rolls-Royce entered its home in Goodwood over 20 years ago, built entirely in-house by Rolls-Royce and catapulting the historic ultra-luxury manufacturer into the new era the it is known and celebrated for today. The latest generation continues to feature the Phantom’s signature opulence with a V12 engine, a sumptuous, bespoke interior, and artisan craftsmanship. As Rolls-Royce continues into the future, the flagship Phantom legacy will continue to represent Rolls-Royce’s ultra-luxury pinnacle, as it has for an incredible 100 years. Rolls-Royce Reveals New 007-Inspired One-Off Phantom Gold...

Rolls-Royce revives the legendary Goldfinger Phantom after 60 years. Chronicling the glamorous, action-packed, and epic adventures of a British spy, the James Bond film franchise is known for highlighting incredible destinations, suave style, and revered icons of luxury within its thrilling stories and nail-biting action. Whether it’s watches, suits, hotels, or luxury and exotic cars, 007 is known just as much for his exquisite taste as he is for his skill as a secret agent. As one of the greatest titans in the world of British luxury, Rolls-Royce has made a dozen appearances in the 007 franchise. Rolls-Royce has the status of being such a prominent and universal symbol of luxury, status, and opulence, that its cars not only help define characters in James Bond films, but serve as characters of their own, especially in Goldfinger, where Rolls-Royce made its first 007 film appearance. In it, the villain, Auric Goldfinger, drives a 1937 Phantom III Sedanca de Ville, which he drives throughout the events of the film. Celebrating 60 years since Goldfinger’s original release in 1964, Rolls-Royce has revived the iconic Phantom from the movie, in the form of a new one-off Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended, created by the masters of luxury artisan craftsmanship at Rolls-Royce Bespoke. Taking inspiration directly from the original car as it appears in the film, the new one-of-one Rolls-Royce Phantom Goldfinger features the same configuration of black with yellow two-tone paintwork, the colors being specially formulated by Rolls-Royce paint specialists, with a bespoke two-tone design made to match the original. The Spirit of Ecstasy contains a reference to the film, in which Auric Goldfinger smuggles gold by hiding it in the body panels of his Rolls-Royce. To create the effect of gold hidden behind a silver Spirit of Ecstasy, the Phantom Goldfinger has a Spirit of Ecstasy crafted in solid silver, and carefully plated with sections of 18-carat gold to “reveal” the gold. The interior contains even more references to the film, using plenty of 18 and 24-carat gold throughout. One is a “vault” in the center console, housing a solid 18-carat gold bar in the shape of a Rolls-Royce Phantom speedform. Another is a debossed quote from Auric Goldfinger in the lid of the glovebox: “This is Gold, Mr. Bond. All my life, I have been in love with its colour, its brilliance, its divine heaviness.” The treadplates are gold-plated, and made to look like gold bars that reference the film, and the 24-carat gold-plated VIN plaque features a VIN that ends in 007. The iconic Phantom Gallery in the car features a hand-drawn, three-dimensional depiction of the Furka Pass, the road where an iconic scene in the film takes place of James Bond following Auric Goldfinger as he smuggles gold. This feature alone required a year of development, with ten prototypes made to perfect the design. The Starlight Headliner depicts the night sky that would have been over the Furka Pass on the last day the film was shot in Switzerland, July 11, 1964, and the rear seat picnic tables have a 22-carat gold inlay featuring a fictional map of Fort Knox. Navy leather and Royal Walnut wood veneers replicate the look of the original car. Other details that reference the film include a gold golf putter in the trunk, harlequin umbrellas in the rear doors, and even the license plate number ‘AU 1’ which was featured on the original car. The Phantom Goldfinger will keep the iconic number, which has been delivered to a British Rolls-Royce enthusiast and collector. The one-of-one Rolls-Royce Phantom Goldfinger not only celebrates 60 years of a legendary film, but also defines how Rolls-Royce “gilds the lily.” View All Rolls-Royce Phantoms For Sale Image Source: Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce Unveils The New 1-of-1 Phantom "Inspired by C...

This one-of-one marvel celebrates the region’s scenic beauty. When luxury automaker Rolls-Royce decides to pay tribute to a region as beautiful as Italy's Cinque Terre, you can bet it’s going to be nothing short of extraordinary. Known for sparing no expense and refusing to cut corners when it comes to luxury, opulence, craftsmanship, and design, the company has recently unveiled its Phantom ‘Inspired by Cinque Terre,’ a one-of-one bespoke creation that celebrates the scenic beauty and viticultural charm of the Italian Riviera. What sets this car apart from others in the opulent Rolls-Royce lineup is its meticulous attention to detail—every stitch, every paint stroke, and every inlay tells a story, making it one of the many bespoke masterpieces Rolls-Royce has earned a reputation for creating. Cinque Terre, or 'Five Lands' in Italian, is a coastal region located in northern Italy’s Liguria. It’s a series of five picturesque fishing villages—Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore—that are renowned for their steep terraced vineyards overlooking the Mediterranean. These charming terrains have been intricately captured and celebrated through bespoke features sprinkled throughout the Phantom. The vehicle's exterior is dressed in a mesmerizing Ligurian blue, complemented by a double Coachline in Navy Blue and Jasmine, and sealed with a delicate motif depicting a bunch of grapes—a nod to the region’s winemaking culture. The plush interior is a blend of Grace White and Navy Blue leather, further elevated by Jasmine accents. A unique grape-branch embroidery graces the rear doors, stitched using two distinct techniques to bring the design to life. It's an artisanal accomplishment involving more than 9,000 meticulously placed stitches. This bespoke Phantom's opulence goes deeper than the surface. The car's picnic tables offer an intricate inlay, featuring a combination of stainless steel and gold plating. Each table is first painted in Milori blue, given a clear lacquer seal, and then hand-polished to perfection. The laborious process ensures a smooth, seamless finish, radiating the luster and depth that one would expect from a Rolls-Royce. And let’s not forget about the Bespoke Starlight Headliner, a feature that has become synonymous with Rolls-Royce luxury. This masterpiece is adorned with an embroidered map of Italy and illuminated by five gently glowing stars that mark the Cinque Terre villages. Achieving this required more than 14,000 individual stitches and a month’s worth of design iterations to ensure perfection. Within the car's expansive fascia lies a specially commissioned artwork encapsulating the vivid colors and unique architecture of Cinque Terre. Crafted using a combination of digital sketching and hand-applied water-based acrylic paint, the piece brings together elements from each of the five cliffside villages that comprise the iconic Cinque Terre region. As a cherry on top, a silver debossing depicting the five villages is carefully tucked inside the glove compartment. It's yet another layer of storytelling, emblematic of Rolls-Royce's commitment to bespoke luxury. This Rolls-Royce Phantom 'Inspired by Cinque Terre' is a lavish tribute to one of Italy’s most iconic regions. It’s a masterpiece that melds automotive artistry with cultural heritage—demonstrating that in the world of luxury cars, the most marvelous elements are truly in the details. With this one-of-a-kind vehicle, which will never be replicated, already nestled in its commissioning client’s collection, it serves as a timeless representation of what Rolls-Royce can achieve in the realm of custom luxury.
