Shelby Revives the Two-Door F-150 Super Snake Sport as a Limited-Run, 810-HP Street Truck

Shelby American has revived the F-150 Super Snake Sport after a three-year hiatus, bringing back its two-door street truck with 810+ horsepower and production limited to only 500 examples for 2026. Shelby Performance Director of Sales and Marketing Brock Patterson said several companies had tried and failed to replicate the truck’s success during its absence, and demand from Shelby dealers and customers was “off the charts,” he added. Based on a four-wheel-drive Ford F-150 Lariat regular cab, the Super Snake Sport packs Ford's naturally aspirated 5.0-liter Gen 4 Coyote V8 making 400 horsepower. An optional post-title Shelby Stage 2 supercharger raises output to over 810 horsepower on 93-octane fuel. Supporting hardware includes a high-flow intake, carbon-fiber intake tube, upgraded injectors, Ford Performance spark plugs, an aluminum heat exchanger and 5W-50 oil. The blower and intake manifold are finished in Ford Racing Blue. Shelby says four-wheel drive makes it the fastest street truck from a standing start it has offered. For some context, its predecessor, introduced in 2020, could hit 60 mph in a claimed 3.42 seconds and later competed at Pikes Peak and ran on racetracks. Chassis upgrades include a Shelby-exclusive adjustable lowered suspension, KING coilovers, rear traction bars and Baer oversized drilled-and-slotted rotors. Riding on 22-inch Shelby wheels with new Michelin performance tires, the truck's recalibrated speedometer accounts for the revised setup, and a Shelby-tuned Borla side-exit exhaust provides the soundtrack. "Our goal was to build a two-door truck with the same attributes engineered into our Super Snake model Ford Mustang. Both boast exceptional handling, a supercharged V8 and bold styling. Those who crave the performance of a sports car but need the capabilities of a truck can now drive a vehicle that combines the best of both.” -  Vince LaViolette, Shelby American Vice President of Operations and Chief Designer. Visual changes include a dual-intake aluminum ram-air hood, front splitter, functional fender vents, painted ground effects, tonneau cover, illuminated grille and fender markers, and full-body stripes. The configurator is already live, and you can choose from five paint colors: Agate Black, Argon Blue, Carbonized Gray Metallic, Iconic Silver, and Oxford White, with stripes available in six finishes and a stripe delete option as well. For 2026, you can also match the Shelby grille lettering to either the body or stripe color. Inside are Shelby-designed top-grain leather seat covers, digital gauges, carbon-fiber-look trim, billet pedals, embroidered mats, and serialized cabin and engine-bay plaques. A carpeted BedRug liner and Shelby puddle lamps add further detailing. Every truck is recorded in the Shelby Registry, listed in Black Book, and each owner receives membership in Team Shelby, the official enthusiast club. <- Gallery -> The two-door arrives alongside a recently unveiled four-door SuperCrew version, positioning it as the sharper enthusiast pick in the range. Production is capped at 500 trucks per year, further limited by donor chassis availability.  The supercharged 2026 Super Snake Sport carries an MSRP of $115,795, which includes the base F-150, and comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty for the original owner. Ford's factory powertrain warranty remains intact. The trucks will be sold through select Shelby Performance Ford dealers and built at Shelby Performance's facility in Bristol, Indiana. Shelby American Debuts 2026 Wide Body Super Snake-R, a 85...

Shelby American has unleashed its most track-focused Mustang ever, introducing the 2026 Shelby Super Snake-R during Monterey Car Week. This limited-edition widebody sports car, based on the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, packs 850+ horsepower, a sophisticated coil-over independent suspension, carbon fiber aero components, and a host of performance upgrades designed for one thing: absolute dominance on the circuit. “The Shelby Super Snake’s roots come from a rich motorsport history as the first Shelby Super Snake in 1967 was built for high-speed runs on the racetrack,” said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American. “However, the ‘R’ model designation has never been applied to a Shelby Super Snake. We can build a small number of the 2026 model car at a much higher level of performance, which earned it the special ‘R’ badge.” “This particular car is very special because we're going to build 100 of them. So that's a very special limited-run car right away. But it's also got to look very unique and function. It's not just stickers and scoops. It's a whole different fender, hood, front fascia, and splitter. It's got hardened wheel studs and axles that'll handle over a thousand horsepower. This thing is full of content. When you get this, you can choose to drive across the country and make it a nice grand touring car, or you can take it to the racetrack. You want an automatic, you could drive it that way, or you can order it with an old-school stick shift. We've done a lot of homework with it. We've learned a lot from the previous models, Super Snakes, GT350s, and stuff like that. We put the coilover suspension on it. I drove it for the first time at Spring Mountain Motorsports Park. I remember pulling out of the pits and thinking, Okay, I'm pretty familiar with the track. I turned the wheel to the right for the first turn, which is a long sweeper, and that thing bit and pulled to the right. I was like, ‘Oh, this is different.’” - Gary Patterson, President, Shelby American Inc. Starting with the 500-horsepower Ford Mustang Dark Horse fastback, Shelby supercharges the 5.0-liter Coyote V8, unlocking 850+ dependable horsepower. Buyers can choose between a Tremec TR-3160 six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission. “The 2026 Shelby Super Snake-R was optimized at every level using the best components available to create a dominating track star,” said Gary Patterson, president of Shelby American. “We’re unlocking the reliable 5.0-liter Coyote’s great potential by supercharging it… Serious enthusiasts can drive a powerful sports car that is easy to keep in peak running condition.” Key highlights include a widened stance, Shelby-specific chassis stiffening, metal spherical suspension bushings, a harness strut bar, and massive 335-section Michelin tires tucked under sculpted metallic widebody fenders. Carbon fiber and lightweight magnesium alloys are used extensively to keep weight to just 4,004 pounds – only 116 more than the base Dark Horse – despite 40% more power. We thought the manual was really important for this vehicle, doing what it is, being a track car. A lot of our feedback from our clientele is that we need to keep a manual option out there, so this SSR model is going to provide that to the market. I think at 100 units, we're going to go through them really quickly. And so people who may have been GT500 customers who wanted something a little more, but also with a stick shift, could go here. This is exactly it. So those GT500s are getting a little long in the tooth. This is the next generation right here. This is what people need to be looking at. Vince and Gary, and the team in Las Vegas did an awesome job of putting this car together. All of these will go out the door with the wide-body kit option. It's a lot of carbon. You look at the aerodynamics on the front, the whole front fascia was redesigned, the splitter, the hood, everything. It's brand new. Vince spent a lot of time working on the aero side of this to make sure it's efficient. - Aaron Shelby, Board Member, Carroll Shelby International, Co-President, Carroll Shelby Foundation. “The new suspension is a real game changer,” said Vince LaViolette, Shelby American vice president of operations and senior designer. “If you are ready to be a track king, your car has arrived.” Priced from $224,995, including the base Mustang Dark Horse, the Shelby Super Snake-R will be offered through Shelby-authorized distributors in the U.S., with select international availability. With its staggering power-to-weight ratio, aggressive widebody design, and uncompromising suspension tuning, the 2026 Shelby Super Snake-R signals Shelby American’s boldest intention yet: to redefine what a modern track-ready muscle car can be. “The Next One”: Shelby’s Mysterious Mustang Set for Monte...

Carroll Shelby never dwelled on the past. He always looked ahead. “My favorite car is the next one,” he once said. Now, Shelby American is continuing to build on that legacy into the 7th generation of the Ford Mustang. The American tuner has just released teaser images of a mysterious Mustang model. With a caption that simply reads: “The Next One” the car is being prepared for a reveal at the upcoming Monterey Car Week. Monterey is where some of the world’s most elite automobiles gather, from coachbuilt Bugattis to the latest from the world of track-bred hypercars. Shelby launching something here means it’s got to be truly extraordinary. Ironically, AC Cars is the official Sponsor of the Pebble Beach Concours this year. So far, details are scarce, but there’s still plenty that we can unpack from the teaser image. A broad shoulder haunch, the tri-bar taillights that are unmistakably S650 Mustang, and a swan-neck hint at a potential car, designed to do track work. The bodywork looks wider than any standard S650, likely to accommodate broader wheels and a track-ready stance.  Now, what exactly Shelby will stuff under the hood is anyone’s guess, but historically, Shelby American has long favored Whipple superchargers strapped to Ford’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8. Expect output to exceed 800 horsepower.  By contrast, the stock Mustang Dark Horse makes 500 horsepower from its naturally aspirated setup. What all this could mean is that this new Shelby Mustang will need serious chassis reinforcements: upgraded suspension, massive brakes, and sticky tires. Possibly even lightweight carbon fiber components.  This also marks Shelby’s second high-profile swing at the S650 platform. Back in January, Shelby American unveiled its GT350 variant of the S650 with familiar tricks: a Whipple supercharger, Borla exhaust, and suspension tweaks.  But this new teaser suggests something far more radical, and appears to be more of a spiritual successor to the old GT500. Could it be even a street-legal homage to Ford’s $300,000 Mustang GTD? We don’t know yet. Larry Chen, the renowned automotive photographer, has already seen and shot the car, but he’s staying tight-lipped for now.  But in the end, what’s missing from this equation, curiously, is Ford itself. Unlike past collaborations on the GT350 and GT500, this new Shelby seems to be an independent effort. The Blue Oval has remained silent on any new co-developed Shelbys, instead pushing its own six-figure Mustang GTD and the track-focused Dark Horse model and even a new fox-body inspired variant. Exactly what Shelby has in store will be revealed on August 13. Watch this space. Shelby Reveals The New 830HP 2024 Super Snake Mustang

Shelby finally gets its hands on the latest Ford Mustang. Shelby is one of the most respected names in the world of American performance, and one of the most important contributors to its legacy is its lineage of high-performance Ford Mustangs. The GT350 and GT500 are iconic Shelby Mustang nameplates, but along with them is the Super Snake, which Shelby American has now just revealed the latest version of, based on the new generation of the Ford Mustang. Super Snake is a revered name in the Shelby lexicon, as it was first used as the name of a one-off experimental performance machine that took after the incredible power and speed of the Ford GT Mark IV that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. Today, the Super Snake name is still revered, and the new 2024 Shelby Super Snake is touted as the pinnacle of current Shelby performance, and the most thrilling Mustang in the legendary pony car’s 60-year history. One of the biggest questions is the engine, and Shelby’s answer is a 5.0-liter V8, either with 480 horsepower, or 830+ horsepower with a supercharger. Throughout, the car’s dynamics are also enhanced to match the new Super Snake’s burgeoning power. A revised body with a wider, sportier stance comes thanks to the inclusion of an aluminum hood, carbon fiber fenders, lightweight magnesium wheels, and even a carbon fiber fixed spoiler for optimized downforce. The new 2024 Shelby Super Snake also remains committed to being a purist’s driver’s car, with an available manual transmission even with 830+ potential horsepower. For the 2024 model year, however, Shelby American plans to only manufacture 250 examples of the car, with production set to begin this summer. With great looks, wild performance, and an all-American high-octane legacy, the new 2024 Super Snake is one of the Mustang’s greatest achievements as a car in its 60 years of history. Shelby Wins Legal Battle Over The "Eleanor" Name Used For...

A decisive court ruling ends a decade-long dispute, affirming the Shelby Trust's rights over the iconic Shelby GT500. The Shelby Trust has emerged victorious in a legal tussle that pitted the guardians of the Shelby GT500's legacy against Denise Halicki, widow of "Gone in 60 Seconds" filmmaker H.B. "Toby" Halicki. After a decade-long dispute, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California has delivered a ruling that decisively puts the Shelby Trust in control of the "Shelby" trademarks and trade dress, essential to the brand's esteemed image. The argument centered around the “Eleanor” name, famously associated with various Mustangs in the original Halicki films and the Shelby GT500 in the 2000 remake. Mrs. Halicki asserted a singular copyright over "Eleanor," claiming exclusive rights that extended to influencing the manufacturing, selling, and auctioning of Shelby GT500 cars. This claim led her to pursue legal action against vintage manufacturers, customers, and auction houses affiliated with the Shelby GT500, suggesting that their vehicles infringed on her alleged copyright interests. The Court's November 2022 ruling debunked Mrs. Halicki's claims, rejecting the notion that the Eleanor vehicles depicted in the films could be granted "character" copyright protection. Additionally, in 2023, the Court dismissed Mrs. Halicki’s additional claim based on a 2007 settlement agreement, solidifying the Shelby Trust’s rights to continue selling Shelby GT500s licensed to Carroll Shelby Licensing. M. Neil Cummings, Esq., CEO of Carroll Shelby Licensing and Co-Trustee of the Shelby Trust, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, which not only clears the Trust's position but also protects the interests of Shelby GT500 owners and the Shelby legacy. The ruling confirms that the Shelby Trust retains the undisputed right to license the design and production of Shelby GT500 vehicles, ensuring the value and authenticity of these vintage automotive collectibles. Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will be Raffled by JDRF

Type 1 Diabetes is a struggle for anyone who has it, and even more so for the little ones. That's why Ford has been donating special vehicles to support Juvenile diabetes research. Pulling out all the stops, this year a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will be raffled by the JDRF. The Venom paint scheme is 1 of 1, and it was a combined effort between Penske and Protean. Ken Block & Vaughn Gittin Jr. vs 2020 Shelby GT500

Do your rear tires evaporate on a weekly basis? If so, you might have a drifting addiction. Two of the most popular Mustang enthusiasts were invited to Goodwood try out Ford's latest creation, so let's watch Ken Block & Vaughn Gittin Jr versus a 2020 Shelby GT500. Uploaded to Ken's YouTube page, we are treated to an inside view of the paddock. What immediately stands out are the carbon fiber wheels. While they are not new to Mustang, the reduction in un-sprung weight offers a smooth ride. Speaking of the ride, it is controlled by the latest generation of GM's Magneride. Much like the 2020 C8 Corvette Stingray, this 4th generation system relies on electrical coils inside and outside the shocks. Vaughn knows how to handle a Mustang because his RTR builds arrive "Ready To Race". Such is the case with the new GT500, as it offers 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque. The dual-clutch transmission is perfect for drifting, as power is not interrupted during the shift. Tell us what you think of this mean Mustang in the comments below, and stay with us for all your Hoonigan/RTR updates.
