See the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ's Record Nurburgring Lap

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ has lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in record time before its worldwide debut. This means that the SVJ has lapped the famous circuit quicker than the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, the previous record holder, and the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. Lamborghini put Marco Mapelli behind the wheel of the Aventador SVJ for the record lap. Mapelli is currently a Lamborghini Factory Driver and has been racing for more than a decade. Now, he's the king of the 'Ring. To record the lap, Lamborghini used GPS certification that utilizes VBOX-Racelogic instrumentation and Remak personnel were on hand to manage it all. The entire event was under heavy scrutiny, meaning no one can argue their lap time. You can see the entire record lap from the cockpit for yourself by clicking play below. After watching, it's easy to see how Mapelli managed the to break the record.

Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Teased With Active Aero

Is it just me or is it getting hot in here? By here, we mean the Nürburgring. Because Lamborghini just uploaded another nail-biting clip of the 2020 Aventador SVJ. It was only a matter of time before the patented aerodynamics used on the Huracan Performante could be adapted to their flagship model. Even with heavy camouflage, we see the intake for the hollow rear spoiler right behind the engine. Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Price, Specs, Photos & Review The massive rear spoiler is perforated along is trailing edge, filling the vacuum that all cars create at high speeds. It is the same principle as drafting, but you don't have to deal with someone riding your bumper looking for a win. Many supercars have exhaust pipes aimed into the void, but moving high-pressure air to a low-pressure area slashes the car's coefficient of drag. The front end will also have the same system, allowing air to pass under the floor or up through vents ahead of the radiators. Could they have broken the 'Ring Record? They have done it before, so stay with us for all your Aventador updates. If you are looking for a comfy ride, the Aventador S is a perfect blend of street and track performance, so click the link below to learn more.

Lamborghini Huracan Performante Destroys Nurburgring Record

One of the true tests that every supercar must face is a Nurburgring Nordschleife lap. For years, automakers have been testing their cars on this track, tuning them along the way with the hopes to set new lap time records. Lamborghini has been hard at work testing their upcoming Huracan Performante at the "Green Hell," and it looks like their hard work has paid off. In a new video from the Italian automaker, they show, from start to finish, the new supercar's Nurburgring Nordschleife lap in its entirety. It took the Huracan Performante only 6:52.01 to make it from the starting line to the finish line. TO put this into perspective, the Porsche 918 Spyder's lap time was 6:57 and the Aventador SV did it in 6:59.71. That's a HUGE difference in time. You can see the lap by clicking play below. Lamborghini Centenario Rev Battles Procharged Mustang GT350R

Have you ever seen a Mustang rev off against a Lamborghini? Probably not, but now you will. At the CF Charities Supercar Weekend, a Lamborghini Centenario showed up, as did a procharged 2017 Ford Shelby GT350R.Naturally, the owners of these two cars parked them back-to-back and pitted them against each other in a rev battle. On the one hand, you have a monster American muscle car, while the other is an Italian hypercar worth almost $2 million. That being said, each gives off an exhaust note that needs to be heard, making the video from DownShiftRecords below worth a play. The Lamborghini Centenario is powered by a naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces 770 hp, making it Lamborghini’s most powerful engine that they’ve ever produced. With a weight of 3,351 lbs and the power mentioned above, this hypercar will run 0-62 mph in just 2.8 seconds and 0-186 mph in 23.5 seconds. Its top speed is said to be over 217 mph.Ford's Shelby GT350R originally comes with a new 5.2-liter engine at 526 hp and 429 lb-ft, but the one in the video below is far from original. GlasWerks DMV told us this Mustang their own shop car, and it comes with new exhaust, headers and more. As for power, this GT350R pushes out over 700 hp and almost meets the horsepower rating of the Centenario.

Performante vs Tesla

Lamborghini Huracan Performante vs Tesla Model S P100D

Two cars with patented technology meet on a desolate highway in Mexico. It sounds like an unlikely scenario but stay with us. Lamborghini's Huracan Performante channels air through a hollow rear spoiler to cheat the wind. Tesla's Model S P100D channels 100 kWh of power to electric motors at the front and rear. In "Ludicrous Mode" it has laid waste to cars several times its price, at the expense of generating more carbon emissions from the nation's power grid.Drag Race: Tesla Model S P85D Ludicrous Mode vs. Lamborghini HuracanLamborghini believes in old-fashioned naturally aspirated power. When combined with the latest in aerodynamics it allowed the Huracan Performante to clock a record time at the 'Ring. So Dragtimes decided to compare these unlikely contenders in a series of races. For full disclosure, the Italian carries a price tag of $336,000, if you can find a dealer able to order one. It sends 630 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque to all wheels.Lamborghini Huracan Performante vs. Base Huracan: Who’s Faster? The Tesla Model S P100D is $150,000, and its combined output from both motors is 920 lb-ft of torque and 588 horsepower. Contrary to most electric cars, Tesla builds a gear-reduction into their differentials. Their cars are geared to maximize battery range in city driving. It puts the most power to the ground under 60 mph, while the Performante comes alive above 100. Comparing these two cars in any way is like apples to oranges, but it is fun to watch nonetheless.Lamborghini Huracan Performante For SaleP.S. Super Trofeo Huracan

How To Be A Lamborghini Racing Driver

In the words of AC/DC: "It's A Long Way To The Top If You Want To Rock & Roll". Racing can be just as difficult, it took two decades for Dale Earnhardt to win the Daytona 500. So how does someone become a sponsored Lamborghini Huracan team? In a video uploaded last night by VINwiki, Ryan Hardwick explains his trials and tribulations on the way to becoming an owner/driver of a Lamborghini Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo. After starting out on dirt bikes, he quickly found out that Personal Watercraft were much more fun. I will agree with him to an extent, but freshwater racing is much easier on your budget and your body than racing in the ocean. Since his grandfather was a NASCAR mechanic, he then got into Legends, which is a highly competitive series for teens. If you want to get your kids away from the TV, this series uses 5/8 scale repli-cars powered by motorcycle engines. They are essentially go-karts that look like pre-war coupes and sedans. Lamborghini Unveils the Huracan Super Trofeo EvoHis first true racing machine was a Porsche Cayman Clubsport GT4. After making his way through the amateur races, he decided to join Lamborghini Atlanta for a 3-day session at Road Atlanta. Two days of instruction in a stock Huracn culminated in the ride of a lifetime. The Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo is no ordinary raging bull. Based on a production chassis, the cars are finished by the racing legends at Dallara Automotive. Their cars have a tendency to bring home podium finishes at tracks around the world, and their founder was the chassis engineer for the Miura and the Espada. Needless to say, normal maintenance parts are not inexpensive, and the race-weight forged composite panels can't be fixed with a hammer after each the eventual contact with other racers. Ryan says it takes a major financial investment before your team gets sponsors, so you might need to pick up a night job to keep your car ready to go. A big thanks to VINwiki for another great story, so stay with us for their latest uploads. If you have raced, tell us about it in the comments below.Browse Huracans For Sale

Surprising Race Between Lamborghini Aventador and Ariel Atom

The Lamborghini Aventador and Ariel Atom are two incredibly different cars. One is an Italian supercar filled with luxury, while the other is a track-machine that puts the driver out in the elements. The differences between the two can go on for days and result in two cars that are just completely different. But, in the world of racing, it doesn't matter how much each car costs or how much leather is covering the seats. All that matters is speed.2017 Lamborghini Huracans for SaleRego Apps recently pit his Aventador up against an Ariel Atom that had been tuned up to 600 horsepower. He called it a race between "one of Lamborghini's fastest versus one of Ariel Atom's fastest." The race took place during a recent WannaGoFast event at the Jumbolair airport where the cars had a runway all to themselves. The result of the race was surprising to say that least, considering how close it really was. 1,200 Horsepower Aventador vs E55 & CLS63 AMG

If you have a case of the "Mondays", we try to start each work week with the best in half-mile grad racing. DragTimes always seem to find the fastest cars in the eastern hemisphere to battle it out at their track near Moscow.Sports Cars For SaleSince I am from Jacksonville, I know what it's like to be an underdog. So when we saw an older E55 lining up against a late-model Lamborghini Aventador, it made us wonder if the German had a chance against the raging bull. Gad Motors has an obsession with boost, so they transformed the Aventador from 740 horsepower to only 1,200.The first opponent was a 750 horsepower E55 AMG. They have tremendous aftermarket support, but the W211 chassis is as aerodynamic as a box truck. Next up is a CLS63 AMG with a reported 700 horsepower. It doesn't take much to get the already potent CLS to this level, so it probably didn't have many modifications.  The times at the 330' will surprise you, so tell us which car you would prefer, and stay with us for more great heads-up action from DragTimes.Aventador S For Sale
