New Street Legal Dodge Viper World Record Set

An insane, street-legal Dodge Viper has broken the world record for the fasted recorded speed by a Viper. The world record took place at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Merritt Island, Florida. The runway used is 3-miles long and 100 yards wide with 50ft traffic lanes on either side. Because of this runway's length, this 2006 Viper was able to push itself to the extreme. During a 2.7-mile test, the Viper recorded a top speed of 252.588 mph. Yes, you read that correctly. Of course, this is not a stock viper and has a lot of work done under its hook, including a twin-turbo setup. Its total output is rated at 1,400 whp and 1,177 lb-ft of torque. Dodge Viper ACR Goes for Top Speed on 3.2-Mile Runway

The Dodge Viper may be a difficult beast to tame, but the Viper ACR made the model a more competent track car. Dodge pushed its track abilities and aggressiveness even further with the ACR-X, which was introduced in 2010. Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds recently had a unique Viper at their facility and they had the opportunity to push it to its limit. What's unique about this specific Viper is that it's a 2008 Viper ACR that has been modified to look and perform like a 2010 Viper ACR-X. So how did it perform? During the sprint, the car had the chance to utilize 2.7-miles of a 3.22-mile runway that used to be where space shuttles would land. Yes, we're talking about the Shuttle Landing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center. Check out the video above to see just how fast this mean Viper can go. see all dodge vipers for sale
