Cadillac envisions its electric performance future.
Cadillac’s V-Series is unique within the automotive industry, positioned as an American alternative to the likes of AMG, BMW’s M division, and other European luxury performance outfits. With cars like the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and the Escalade-V, the V-Series has valiantly championed the hallmarks of traditional American performance, like supercharged V8 engines and manual transmissions, while combining those aspects with sophisticated luxury design.
However, Cadillac’s V-Series has an electric future. The historic luxury brand promised to introduce a new concept vehicle that would preview what its electric V-Series performance-oriented offerings might look like, and that concept is here: the new Cadillac Opulent Velocity Concept. It’s a stunning electric hypercar concept whose low-slung proportions and wide stance are reminders of the iconic Cadillac Cien concept of the early 2000s.
The new concept lives up to the opulence in its name with Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities, which allow for a hands-free driving experience that provides the ultimate luxury: convenience. However, the other side of its character is velocity, which is presented through the activation of Velocity Mode, which presents the driver with a steering wheel and pedals for high-speed driving, with the HUD screen capable of displaying an augmented reality “ghost car” like a racing video game for competitive track driving.
Styled as a 2+2 coupe, the new Cadillac Opulent Velocity Concept is finished with an interior color called “Selene.” The rich, dark blue color complements the minimalistic, clean, and aerodynamic exterior with its luxurious futurism and exquisite craftsmanship. With 3D printing technology and meticulous embroidery, the interior evokes serenity and high-performance potential at the same time. With a new hypercar coupe concept, Cadillac shows off the incredible potential electric future of its iconic V-Series performance lineup.
