Genesis previews its next chapter of groundbreaking luxury.
With incredible success from its stylish, elegant, and high-tech lineup of luxury vehicles, Genesis has, in under a decade, proven itself to be a formidable name in the luxury automotive landscape, going up against a large group of industry titans, some of whom have a century or longer of history. However, Genesis refuses to rest on its laurels and is previewing the next chapter of its innovative approach to automotive luxury with the reveal of two new concept cars: the Genesis Neolun concept, and the Genesis GV60 Magma.
The Neolun concept, derived from Greek “neo,” and Latin “moon,” is a full-size electric SUV, inspired by Korean moon-shaped porcelain jars. Its elegant, monolithic design features clean lines, minimalistic detailing, and a distinct lack of B-pillars, highlighted by coach-style doors. This concept ensures unparalleled interior room, and easy ingress/egress. The night sky is referenced by the two-tone color scheme of Midnight Black and Majestic Blue, and Korean culture is also referenced in an innovative way: through the heating system.
“Ondol” is a traditional Korean underfloor room heating solution, which serves as inspiration for the Neolun’s ingenious radiant heating system, which efficiently heats the vehicle through the use of heated surfaces throughout the vehicle. Meanwhile, the concept also features swiveling seats for versatility, and luxurious finishes like a wood floor, cashmere, and leather.
The GV60 Magma Concept shows off a different side to Genesis, with “Magma” being Genesis’ upcoming high-performance line. The manufacturer looks forward to unveiling performance-oriented Magma versions of each of its models, and the GV60 Magma Concept shows off what that could look like. Prioritizing the driving experience, the concept promises improved performance, along with a wider, lower stance, enhanced aerodynamics, and a sportier design with bold colors.
The bold orange Magma color symbolizes the concept, taking after the GV80 Coupe Concept, which was the first to feature the color, and the interior features body-color seatbacks for sporty bucket seats that are also luxurious with suede and Nappa leather upholstery. The concept was displayed among the other Magma cars: the GV80 Coupe Concept, the G80 Magma Special, and X Gran Berlinetta Concept. Racing legend Jacky Ickx is set to lend his expertise to the Genesis Magma program, which will further transform the burgeoning luxury brand upon its introduction.
Ahead of the 2024 New York International Auto Show, both new concepts were unveiled today at the Genesis House New York, and starting March 29, they will be at the New York International Auto Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
