The Bronco name may be a household name today, but its story began on a summer day back in 1965, August 11 to be more specific, when Ford pulled the wraps off a new kind of vehicle and introduced the world to the term “sport-utility” at Kingsley Inn in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. It was Ford’s answer to the Jeep CJ and International Harvester Scout.
Sixty years on, Ford is marking this momentous milestone with the 2026 Bronco 60th Anniversary Package, a celebration of its off-road heritage that combines modern-day trail-proven tech with retro design cues.
The Bronco 60th Anniversary Package builds upon the Outer Banks trim and comes exclusively with the Sasquatch package. That means this rig is properly capable off-road, equipped with an advanced 4×4 system, electronic-locking front and rear diffs, high-clearance suspension, and complemented by 35-inch Goodyear all-terrain rubber. Under the hood, you can choose between Ford’s trusty 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder or the optional 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6.
Visually, the package leans heavily into Bronco tradition. Wimbledon White, a historic color that was available on the original 1966 model, now returns as a body color and roof option. You can also opt for Ruby Red with a white roof. The front grille also mimics the original Bronco design but adds a modern twist with Warm Alloy paint and bold Vermilion Red “BRONCO” lettering.
Unique 17-inch Gravity Gray alloy wheels feature center caps embossed with the Bucking Bronco logo and the year “1966” along the rim, a nod to the original hubcaps from the first model year. Vermilion Red stripes along the body sides begin with a Bronco 60th Anniversary badge on the front quarter panel. On the fenders, cloisonné-style emblems inspired by those used on the Mustang’s 60th Anniversary Edition reinforce the commemorative feel. As with all new Broncos, hidden Easter eggs will reward attentive owners.
Inside, the upgrades focus on tactile quality and nostalgic touches. Ebony leather bolsters pair with Alpine leather seat inserts, each one embossed with a stylized “60” logo featuring a Bronco silhouette. Alpine marine-grade vinyl armrests and Bronco Red interior accents also carry over to the grab handles and instrument panel. The leather-topped dash features Alpine contrast stitching.
Practicality hasn’t been overlooked either, with new A-pillar-mounted grab handles and full-length running boards that improve ingress and egress into the cabin. At the rear, a Wimbledon White hard-center tire cover with red BRONCO script complements a matte black Ford badge on the tailgate.
Now this isn’t Ford’s first foray into heritage-inspired design for the Bronco. In 2022, the Blue Oval introduced Heritage Limited models across both the Bronco and Bronco Sport models, which also took design inspiration from first-generation Broncos with Oxford White grilles, two-tone paint, and plaid seat inserts. The Bronco Stroppe special edition was a celebration of the nameplate’s Baja legacy. Just earlier this year, Ford also unveiled a new FX Package for the latest S650 Mustang, inspired by the beloved Fox Body Mustangs of the 1980s, complete with white aero-style wheels and retro touches.
These special editions form part of a broader push by Ford to blend nostalgia with modern capability, striking a chord with both longtime fans of the brand and younger buyers alike. The 2026 Bronco 60th Anniversary Package will be available to order starting in October, with pricing to be announced closer to the launch date.
