Lamborghini has pulled the wraps off its next one-make race car, the Temerario Super Trofeo, at Misano World Circuit, set to debut in 2027 across Europe, North America, and Asia. It marks a historic turning point for the brand and a bittersweet farewell to the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 that defined Lamborghini racing for nearly a decade.
In its place, a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, a downsized yet far more capable engine designed to meet modern emissions standards and deliver more compact packaging, torque, and power. The new engine produces 650 horsepower in race spec, while the road-going Temerario Stradale packs 800 horsepower. Lamborghini also skipped hybrid assistance altogether, keeping the car lighter, simpler, and more focused.

“In 2009 we made the bold decision to launch the Gallardo Super Trofeo.Lamborghini was not born as a racing brand, yet our customers have constantly asked us for a product designed for the track. Over the years, Super Trofeo and customer racing have become a true pillar of our long-term company strategy, strengthening the bond between the brand and its most passionate clients. With the Temerario Super Trofeo we are taking another decisive step, reaffirming our promise to deliver a pure race car for the growing community that joins us during the Lamborghini Super Trofeo weekends.” – Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
Within the Temerario hierarchy, the Super Trofeo sits between the Stradale and the Temerario GT3 introduced back in July, sharing the Hoer-developed six-speed sequential gearbox with the GT3 car. For the first time, the two machines share major mechanical components, including parts of the chassis and drivetrain. Ironically, the Super Trofeo packs more power than the GT3, whose performance is capped at around 585 horsepower by SRO’s Balance of Performance (BoP) regulations.

The Super Trofeo is roughly a second per lap quicker than its GT3 sibling while costing about half as much to buy and maintain. It comes equipped with rear-wheel drive, ALU/CFK hybrid chassis, and 12-stage traction control with ABS. It also gets enhanced aerodynamics, including a larger rear wing, a new front splitter, and an aggressive rear diffuser that collectively push more downforce while improving stability.
Compared to the Huracán Evo2, the Temerario takes a more rational design approach, ditching the rear fin, roof scoop, and flared fenders in favor of cleaner lines and standard mirrors. Inside, the Temerario features an integrated FIA roll cage, and it also debuts Dinamica Infinity, a 100% PES non-woven suede used on the dashboard, marking its first application in motorsport.
Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo began with the Gallardo, and the series has today become one of the world’s most successful brand cups. Since 2009, more than 1,300 drivers have raced across 563 events worldwide, and the Temerario Super Trofeo continues that legacy: leaner, meaner, and more rational. making it a cornerstone of Lamborghini’s motorsport identity and a lucrative business for Sant’Agata.
