Maserati and Touring Superleggera revive a legend.
Maserati is one of the most celebrated and historic luxury automotive manufacturers, showcasing Italian style, spirited performance, and enviable luxury. However, one of its most important aspects throughout history has been its longstanding legacy of grand tourers. Over the decades, Maserati has created cars that combine performance and comfort that have defined the genre, and one of the most cherished is the 3500GT, a stunning classic known for its timeless beauty and elegance.
At this year’s Retromobile, a show that celebrates the beauty and history of classic cars in Paris, a special example of the Maserati 3500GT will be on display. Originally from 1959, the car was meant for California originally, and owned by the Dodge family for decades. Between Maserati Classiche, a department of the manufacturer dedicated to preserving Maserati’s historic models, and the renowned coachbuilder Touring Superleggera, the car was beautifully restored to be showcased at Retromobile.
The restoration left no stone unturned, reviving the chassis, engine, transmission, and verified the function of the tires, brakes, wheels, and suspension. The bodywork and interior were carefully inspected, along with the electrics. After the painstaking and faithful restoration of the car, Maserati awarded it with a Certification of Authenticity from Maserati Classiche, symbolizing its status as a beautifully restored and preserved legend of Italian automotive history.
