McLaren GT Price, Specs, Review & Photos

McLaren GT Price

At long last, a luxury grand tourer from British supercar powerhouse McLaren has finally come to fruition. The 2020 McLaren GT is the result of mixing the DNA of a long line of some of the world’s greatest supercars and hypercars with some of the most luxurious appointments and features the automotive industry has to offer. The 2020 McLaren GT price starts at $210,000 in the US, McLaren has placed it just above the 570S, 570 GT, and 570 Spider within its lineup. The GT sets itself apart from other McLarens with its refinement, luxury and comfort. It’s beautiful, fast, and it adapts to all kinds of lifestyles. If you’re interested, you can find a McLaren GT for sale here at the duPont REGISTRY.

McLaren GT Review

The McLaren GT may be luxurious, but it is anything but boring. McLaren made sure that the GT is everything a McLaren should be: intimidating, dynamic, and the most fun you’ll ever have. McLaren put the GT on their tried-and-true mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive platform that’s been home to some of the most incredible cars on the planet. Except this time, it has a trunk. Yes, it has a real trunk, or rather a glass tailgate, with enough space for bags, golf clubs, or skis. Better yet, said trunk can optionally be electronically operated. That comes with suspension, braking and steering that give you comfort when you need it, and the monstrous dynamism of the McLaren that will push you firmly into its Nappa leather seats. All the while, the looks of this car tell everyone around you that you indeed drive a McLaren, and the carbon fiber monocoque body of the GT is no less McLaren than its peers, maintaining a balance of sweeping lines and an aggressive, low, and wide stance. The new McLaren GT is ready to do just about anything with you, whether your Sundays involve brunch and a round of golf, or a track and the hottest of hot laps.

McLaren GT Specs

McLaren hasn’t rested on any of its laurels with the development of the GT, and the numbers make that clear. The McLaren GT has a kerb weight of 3,384 pounds, and with a 4-liter twin turbo V8 sending 612 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque Seven-speed SSG dual-clutch transmission, the McLaren GT has a 0-60 of a blistering 3.1 seconds, and from there you are well on your way to the McLaren GT’s top speed of 203 miles per hour. Needless to say, the McLaren GT’s specs assert that it has earned its name.

McLaren GT Engine

McLaren has decided to make an all-new, 4-liter twin-turbo engine for the GT, providing 612 brake horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. Going through the work of designing and building an all new engine for the GT means that McLaren was able to make exactly the car they intended to. With vast amounts of power and an unmistakably pure V8 exhaust note, the McLaren GT’s engine is proudly a grand tourer, and proudly a McLaren. What helps is that said engine only has to push 3,384 pounds of weight. That means that the GT achieves a power/weight ratio of nearly 400 horsepower a ton thanks to a super strong and super light carbon fiber structure. When all is said and done, A McLaren GT goes from a dead stop to 60 miles per hour in just over 3 seconds, and by the time you realize that, you’ll likely already be at 124 miles per hour, because that comes in exactly 9 seconds, and before you know it, the McLaren GT is very well on its way to over 200 miles per hour, and all the while its rear trunk is holding 14.8 cubic feet of whatever bags, golf clubs, or skis you want to take with you. Needless to say, very few cars in the world can say the same.

McLaren GT Transmission

A seven-speed SSG dual-clutch automatic transmission is on the menu for McLaren GT buyers. What this means is that shifts come seamlessly, and power is delivered with relentless resolve, with little to no effort. The McLaren GT driver also has three transmission modes to choose from, those being Comfort Sport and Track, each giving the car different driving dynamics and levels of performance that cater to every need. Launch control is also included, which allows the GT to achieve the blistering 0-60 time that it does, and everything is operated literally at the touch of a button in the center console. As with everything else, comfort and convenience are the goal of the McLaren GT’s transmission, but that never compromises an exhilarating drive.

McLaren GT Interior

McLaren GT Interior

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, the new 2020 GT is the single most luxurious McLaren yet. Leather and Alcantara-appointed interiors wrap heated, electronically adjustable seats, with Nappa leather or luxury soft-grain leather available. An unprecedented 14.8 cubic feet of rear luggage space is also available to the driver, through a glass tailgate that can be electronically operated as an option. The luggage bay can be lined in scratch and stain resistant SuperFabric or leather-based on configuration. The interior cocoons the driver in a comfortable space while the optional electrochromic dimming glass roof makes it feel open. Aluminum dials and switches provide more tactile luxury, and a 12-speaker Bowers and Wilkins system provides the best of luxury audio experiences. Infotainment is controlled through a sleek, efficient, and convenient 12-inch touchscreen with state-of-the-art HERE navigation which McLaren says is inspired by the luxury and convenience of private jets, rather than its own automotive peers. Top all of that off with optional custom luggage made specially for each individual McLaren GT, and it’s truly a McLaren for a high maintenance driver.

McLaren GT Brakes

The optional carbon ceramic brakes with aluminum calipers mean that the 2020 McLaren GT is just as ready to stop as it is to go. However the standard four-piston cast calipers and drilled iron discs do an exceptional job, as well. If you ever need to stop from 124 miles per hour, count on using a mere 417 feet to do so, and if your situation isn’t as dire, precise pedal feel and the dynamic braking system that the McLaren GT offers allow its driver to experience comfortable, civilian braking in more regular, urban driving situations, while saving quick deceleration or precisely when it is needed. 62 to 0 happens in just 105 feet.

In Conclusion

The McLaren GT is nothing short of a revolutionary vehicle. It has the power, speed, dynamics, and prowess of every McLaren before it, but manages to possess a poise, ease, and comfort that no McLaren has before. If 203 miles per hour in the lap of luxury sounds like your speed, this is the supercar you need to get your hands on.
