The first AMG-exclusive SUV is coming soon.
AMG has been known for Mercedes-Benz performance for an incredible 57 years, and the more recent chapters of that history, AMG has become a part of the Mercedes-Benz umbrella, and after that, Mercedes-AMG was introduced as a sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz. Over a decade ago, AMG introduced the first AMG-exclusive Mercedes-Benz model, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The modernized revival of the gullwing Mercedes stands today as one of the most legendary modern Mercedes-Benz performance cars.
After that, the Mercedes-AMG SL was unveiled as an AMG-exclusive car. However, Mercedes-AMG is on the cusp of revealing new AMG-exclusive models, especially as the turning point towards electrification has begun. Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Vision AMG concept, which previews a new all-electric chapter of AMG history, going beyond the AMG variants of the Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicles.
A production manifestation of the AMG.EA platform, which Mercedes-Benz previewed with the Vision AMG concept, is already in testing, but Mercedes-Benz has recently announced that another vehicle based on the AMG.EA electric performance architecture is going to be made, and it will be an SUV. Not only will this be the second AMG-exclusive electric vehicle on the AMG.EA architecture, but it will be the first Mercedes-AMG exclusive SUV.
AMG is a pioneer in the luxury performance SUV world, with the Mercedes-Benz ML 55 being one of the earliest entries into the segment. Now, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 flagship is one of the most iconic hot-blooded luxury SUVs. However, with a new electric SUV being “Born in Affalterbach,” the legacy of Mercedes-AMG SUVs will be a new chapter in AMG’s rich history.
