The AMG ONE revisits the Nürburgring for another blistering lap.
While Mercedes-AMG engineers worked tirelessly behind closed doors on the AMG ONE, their main objective was to deliver the most contemporary, road-legal race car inspired by F1. And since its long-anticipated welcome to the world of multi-million dollar hypercars, the AMG ONE has surpassed expectations as it has dominated record lap times on circuits around the globe. Today, the Mercedes-AMG ONE continues its streak at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, with brand ambassador Maro Engel once again breaking the lap record for fastest production cars.
On September 23, 2024, Engel completed a time of 6:29.090 minutes, beating his previous record by over five seconds. This new milestone makes the Mercedes-AMG ONE the first road car to break the 6:30-minute barrier. Achieving this record required thorough preparation and ideal track conditions. Engel’s third timed lap was the winning one, with the Nürburgring offering perfect grip and temperatures perfect for high-speed driving. Using the Mercedes-AMG ONE’s advanced four-stage Energy Flow Control (EFC) system, Engel maximized the AMG ONE’s hybrid performance, managing power in its batteries, similar to strategies used by Formula 1 drivers.
The new record was verified by TÜV Rheinland and notarized to confirm compliance with the Nürburgring’s strict regulations. With yet another record for its resume, the Mercedes-AMG ONE proves that it’s rewriting the history of hypercars on one of the world’s most challenging tracks.
