A new chapter opened for AMG when the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe was unveiled, introducing a new AMG-exclusive electric model that brought with it axial flux motor technology and the fruition of a new AMG.EA architecture. Its flagship variant, the GT 63, features a massive 1,153 horsepower, utilizing cutting-edge EV engineering and tech to deliver its uncanny performance. A new variant is coming to the lineup, however, the new Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe, and while it’s more modest than the other two, it still packs a serious performance punch.
The new GT model features dual-motor all-wheel drive, with two permanently excited synchronous electric motors that together contribute 536 horsepower of peak output, with 362 horsepower of continuous output and 590 lb/ft of torque. With that power capable from the motors, and a Formula 1-based, 106-kWh, AMG performance battery with 800-volt technology at its heart, the new GT 53 4-Door Coupe’s 0-60 time is only 3.4 seconds, and its top speed is electronically limited to 143 mph. That battery, along with a two-speed transmission that combines acceleration and efficiency, helps the new Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe achieve an estimated range near 500 miles.
Bridging the gap between the new cohort of electric performance vehicles and their combustion-powered predecessors, the GT 53, like its GT 55 and GT 63 siblings, offers an AMGFORCE Sport+ driving mode, which simulates the sound of a six-cylinder engine and gear changes through paddles. The sound aims to authentically emulate the 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine in the previous Mercedes-AMG E 53 coupe.

Redefining grand touring for the electric age, the new GT 53 features an AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with air springs and adaptive damping to switch from relaxed cruising to a sporty, precise character in three stages: Comfort, Sport, and Sport+. AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive also means that the new four-door grand tourer provides confidence, engagement, and versatility with torque vectoring and decoupled electric motors.
Like its counterparts, the new Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4 Door Coupe features AEROKINETICS active aerodynamics that control airflow around the vehicle for optimal speed and control, including an active rear wing, which is standard, and an optional rear diffuser.
A new performance-dedicated EV in the rapidly transforming AMG lineup, the new Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe is yet another example of the cutting-edge technology that is transforming AMG’s approach to performance. While it might not be as powerful as the GT 55 and the GT 63, the GT 53 still packs a serious punch and is setting new standards for luxury electric grand tourers.
