Over the weekend we watched the 59th running of the Rolex 24. Considered to be one of the most brutal endurance races on the IMSA schedule, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 took top honors at Daytona. This year was a bit strange, with 5 classes running in the same event. The GTLM (GT LeMans) is home to incredible power and aerodynamics, but the cars are very far from production models. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 is sold to the public, and it is their last car to offer the legendary 6.3-liter V8. This indestructible juggernaut was also under the hood of Mr. duPont’s SLS AMG Roadster, and it never failed to take my breath away. Needless to say, cars 57 and 75 finished 1-2 on Sunday afternoon.
