Enzo Ferrari raced cars. Winning for several manufacturers prompted him to build his own race cars. But in order to fund his team (Scuderia Ferrari), he decided to build street-legal cars. Too busy with the details, he left styling and production to firms like Pininfarina, Scaglietti, and a few other friends.
Now that Ferrari is worth more than Ford or GM, they have the resources to do everything in-house. Flavio Manzoni has been the director of Ferrari Centro Stile (Ferrari’s Central Design Department) since 2010. Since then, he has blessed us with the 488 Series, F12tdf, 812 Superfast, and the Roma just to name a few. His greatest triumph so far was the release of 5 new models for the 2019 model year.
In the most recent issue of Ferrari Magazine, Chris Rees goes into detail about Flavio’s inspirations. Maranello still has 2 new cars to be unveiled before 2021, so the future looks bright.
