Porsche’s peak electric performance takes to the track.
Formula E has become an exciting stage for innovation in the world of electric mobility, helping shift the perception of electric cars by showcasing them as bonafide racing machines, and Porsche is not only taking part in the movement by participating in the Formula E series, but also with its burgeoning electric performance car lineup, which most recently includes the new Taycan Turbo GT, the most hot-blooded version of the Taycan yet.
Combining immense electric power and torque with Porsche’s motorsport-derived engineering and innovation, the new Taycan Turbo GT has already set incredible lap times at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and Laguna Seca, setting the electric production car lap time record at the latter. However, it’s back on the racetrack, and this time, it’s with a noble purpose: serving as an official safety car for the Formula E series.
Debuting as the official safety car at Formula E’s Berlin doubleheader on May 11 and 12, different variants of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT will be present. One will be finished in Purple Sky Metallic and equipped with the Weissach Package, which eliminates the rear seats, while the other will be finished in Shale Green Metallic, without the Weissach Package and with rear seats.
Compared to the standard Taycan Turbo GT, modifications like lights, decals, and communication equipment have been installed for the cars to perform their safety car duty. With new safety cars, the Formula E series will be showing off even more high-tech, intense electrified performance on the track than before.
