As the automotive world continues to evolve in efficiency and sustainability with constant improvements in EV technology, the traditional urban EV has quickly transformed into a road trip-worthy platform with increased range potential. Porsche is a prime example of combining innovative EV performance with the luxurious amenities of an everyday German sports car or SUV. Recently, Porsche put its all-electric Taycan to the test to see the true capabilities of its ingenious powertrain, sending it on a long-distance drive in sunny California.
The latest Taycan has left current and future EV owners in awe with its remarkable performance on the iconic stretch between Los Angeles and San Diego. Clocking a range of up to 365 miles, Porsche’s electric sports car has decisively shattered previous limitations, offering a glimpse into the future of sustainable, sport-inspired driving. The real-world trial was conducted on the busy lanes of Interstate Highway 405 and 5. Each of the four vehicles, optioned from the factory with the upgraded Performance Battery Plus, showcased strength and efficiency, highlighting the Taycan’s evolution into a long-distance champion.
The meet-up at the Electrify America Charger in Torrance, CA flexed the Taycan’s charging muscles, boasting over 300 kW of charging power and demonstrating rapid rejuvenation from 10 to 80 percent charge in under 20 minutes. As Porsche gears up to unveil the revamped Taycan, a nod to its staggering 150,000 units produced, the US, the UK, Germany, and China are leading the charge in Porsche Taycan sales.
