Rolls-Royce Bespoke ends the Year of the Dragon with a bang.
The Lunar New Year is approaching, heralding the end of the Year of the Dragon in 2024, and the beginning of the Year of the Snake. However, as the Year of the Dragon comes to a close, Rolls-Royce Bepsoke has unveiled a stunning new commission, which celebrates the Year of the Dragon and its incredible influence in Ancient Chinese Culture and throughout East Asia.
The stunning project emerged from the new Rolls-Royce Private Office Shanghai, and was commissioned by a client in China as Rolls-Royce’s latest masterpiece: the Phantom Dragon, a one-of-one Phantom Extended Wheelbase whose creation kicks off Rolls-Royce’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Phantom nameplate.
The commission combines Rolls-Royce’s creative artistry, stunning craftsmanship ability, and ultra-luxurious materials with the dragon’s rich history and cultural significance. Specifically, the vehicle depicts the over 3,000-year-old legend of two dragons who shared a divine pearl given to them for protecting the human world. The legend is cherished for its depiction of kindness and generosity. The dragons are a symbol of power and fortune, and the pearl symbolizes purity and perfection.
The Gallery features an artwork made of 297 pieces consisting of four different wood species, depicting the swirling dragons guarding the pearl, depicted by the clock in the dashboard. Smoked Eucalyptus, Sycamore, Ash Burr, and Black Bolivar create the scene. Ardent Red and black leather enhance the interior, with other touches including the client’s family name embroidered in Ancient Chinese embroidery and a custom Starlight Headliner consisting of 1,344 lights with 24 “shooting stars.”
The elegantly understated exterior, meanwhile, is finished in Iced Diamond Black, with a “shimmering satin” finish, beautifully concealing the opulence inside. As a stunning celebration of Chinese culture and the Year of the Dragon, the new Rolls-Royce Phantom Dragon ends the Year of the Dragon spectacularly, shows off the Private Office Shanghai’s stunning bespoke ability, and kicks off a year of celebration for 100 years of the Rolls-Royce Phantom.
