If you are looking for a bargain in the world of supercars, consider the McLaren 720S price will appeal to you. As the flagship of their Super Series, it embodies all the engineering and performance you could ever need, the McLaren 720S price of $284,745. The same fun can be had without a roof, as the McLaren 720S Spider for sale has an MSRP of $315,000. While the McLaren 720S Spider price may be higher than the coupe, that’s expected. Of course, this does not include any options or upgrades from McLaren Special Operations. Even without exposed carbon and the Speedy Kiwi logos, the McLaren 720S for sale is your ticket to an amazing ride.

McLaren 720S Review

Being behind the wheel of a McLaren 720S is unlike any other experience. Using advancements in their carbon fiber process, the car is based on their MonoCageII chassis. It is so strong that no swaybars are needed. Driving a car without swaybars is incredibly comfortable. Turn in fast to any corners and the body stays as flat as a mirror. A reflector or bump does not transmit any vibration to the opposite wheel. It makes you feel invincible once you realize that all four corners are connected by a high-pressure hydraulic suspension. It reacts at an instant to changes of pavement and inputs from driving modes.

VIDEO REVIEW: McLaren 720S Spider

The car is smarter than you think, as it will not go into gear with the battery charger port open. Other safeguards are just as intuitive. Other than a new hairstyle, the Spider performs and feels identical to the coupe. As mentioned above, the MonoCage II chassis was designed as a roadster from the beginning, so adding a solid roof was done once the suspension tuning was finalized. Only a few convertibles in history can claim such a pedigree, and the McLaren 720S Spider for sale is one of them.

McLaren 720S Specs

Let’s take a step back to consider what the 720S consists of. The McLaren 720S specs consist of a one-piece carbon fiber body with seating for two. Behind the cockpit is a mid-mounted V8 sending power to the rear wheels. Lessons learned from years of performance engineering have allowed them to build a car that is light, strong, safe, and incredibly fast. Thanks to the hydraulic active suspension, you will not reach the limits of any 720S coupe or 720S Spider on public roads. To fully unlock the potential of your car, dust off your helmet and head to the track. Because the McLaren 720S top speed is 212 mph, many race cars can’t keep up in the corners. The 1/4 mile is also exciting, as high 9-second passes yield trap speeds above 140 mph.

McLaren 720S Engine

To power something so revolutionary, a new engine was needed. Going back to the drawing board, engineers sought to increase turbo response while also using less fuel. Their tried and true 3.8-liter was dissected and reimagined as a 4.0-liter V8 with twin turbochargers. The McLaren 720S engine arrived with a new firing order and dual-scroll turbos. Over 41% of the internals are new, and the crankshaft stroke was increased by 3.6mm. Both wastegates are always in motion, taking orders from the computer at an instant. A new titanium-aluminum alloy spins at the heart of each turbo. It allows them to spool faster than any competitor.

The 720S engine is a work of art and its power is proof of this. The McLaren 720S hp is an awesome 710, which is more than enough. While the McLaren 720S horsepower is high, it would be wasted on a heavy car. Thankfully, the 720S weight is a low 3,236 lbs. Power output is important when it comes to supercars, and the 720S delivers, but that’s expected when you’re talking about a McLaren.

McLaren 720S Transmission

Graziano has supplied all late-model McLaren transmissions, each version with improved internals. From stronger solenoids to lighter pistons, they told their customer that the McLaren 720S transmission is the limit of their abilities. McLaren never accepts “good enough” as an answer. Therefore, they decided to take a look at the transmission control computer. After accessing the code, McLaren found several areas of improvement. The beauty of a dual-clutch transmission is in the coordination. First gear should be released and second gear engaged simultaneously. While it was programmed with a bit of overlap, McLaren decided to account for the clutch movement. What resulted was all-new programming written by McLaren, allowing the 720S to shift faster than 0.05 seconds.

McLaren 720S Interior

You are probably expecting a race car when imagining the McLaren 720S interior. Instead, you are greeted by Weir Leather, comfortable seats, and ergonomic controls. Because the MonoCageII chassis is so strong, the door sills are low and inviting. Once you awaken the V8, the instrument cluster rises from the dash to give you a configurable TFT screen. The carbon fiber chassis is exposed in several places to remind you of the car’s potential. Hidden throughout the interior are a dozen speakers by Bowers & Wilkins.

Incorporating the latest in audio design, the processor yields a true sound stage. However, it can’t compare to the exhaust symphony invoked by your right foot. Perhaps the most foreboding notion of acceleration is when the driver selects maximum aero and sport mode. The instrument cluster lays down to reveal a horizontal tachometer. Not only does this provide an incredible view of the road ahead, it removes all non-essential information. With all of this technology found in a driver-focused cabin, the person behind the steering wheel of a 720S will always feel connected to the car.

McLaren 720S Brakes

Because McLaren uses an open rear differential the brakes serve several functions. The McLaren 720S brakes are carbon-ceramic rotors that measure 15.3″ front and 15″ rear. By commanding each caliper independently, the stability system controls rotation through the corners. Cast iron rotors were never considered because McLaren has a target weight for each car. The thickness of the carbon rotors prevents brake fade and they will last the life of the car. Massive cooling ducts take high-pressure air from in front and under the car and direct it at the back of the rotor. This allows the wheels to act as a turbine to increase downforce.

McLaren 720S Standout Features

If you are curious about the McLaren 720S Standout features, let’s start with the mufflers. It doesn’t have them. The dual-scroll turbos along with the flat-plane crankshaft equal each other out. Like all McLarens, it began life as a convertible. This allows them to fine-tune the suspension, then double the car’s strength when the roof is bonded on. The driver communicates to the car via the McLaren Driver Interface. It is easy to navigate while keeping your eyes on the road.

What truly stands out about the McLaren 720S coupe and the 720S Spider is that they only share a name with their predecessors. Both versions are just as revolutionary as McLaren’s first street-legal car, so each McLaren 720S for sale serves as a foundation for future models. This has led the 720S to be used as a benchmark for every other exotic car manufacturer, only for them to realize it would take years to offer an imitation.
