Rolex came to Geneva with some heavy hitting releases!
Every year, the biggest names in the luxury watch industry meet in the heart of Geneva, Switzerland to kick off to unveil new timepiece creations and collections as part of Watches and Wonders. With Rolex in the spotlight this year, collectors and enthusiasts have locked in their dream release predictions ahead of Geneva Watch Week. Rolex is proud to take center stage today as the watchmaker is proud to announce new versions of its six most popular models. Alongside the rose gold Day-Date 40mm teased at the 2024 Oscars, Rolex added some new looks to the Daytona Cosmograph, Perpetual 1908, Deepsea, and Sky-Dweller.
The design inspiration for this year’s debuts focuses on harmonizing the combination of precious metals, colors, and textures. While the baguette-bezel Daytona and yellow gold, blue dial Deepsea stand out as strong contenders for this year, the 1908’s newly designed texturized dial showcases true craftsmanship behind its once-bare metal base. And although we didn’t get the GMT Master II “Coke” or yellow gold Daytona “Le Mans”, there’s always next year to see what the horologists at Rolex have up their sleeves for the watch world. Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II
Rolex is unveiling two new Oystersteel editions of the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II. Each showcases a 24-hour graduated two-color Cerachrom bezel insert in grey and black ceramic, a feature introduced last year. This bezel’s clear visibility owes to its platinum coating, applied through PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition). One model comes equipped with an Oyster bracelet, while the other boasts a Jubilee bracelet.
Oyster Perpetual Day-Date
Rolex introduces new iterations of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 and Day-Date 36, featuring meticulously crafted dials. The Day-Date 40 unveils ombré dials in slate, transitioning from center-colored to deep black, decorated with faceted Roman numerals and index hour markers in 18 ct pink gold. Previously exclusive to the Day-Date 36, these dials represent a design dating back to the 1980s. Crafted from 18 ct white gold, another Day-Date 40 variant showcases a pearlized white mother-of-pearl dial, a first for the model. With ten baguette-cut diamonds as hour markers, these exquisite dials demonstrate Rolex’s dedication to craftsmanship.
Oyster Perpetual 1908
Rolex introduces a fresh rendition of the Perpetual 1908, originally debuted last year. For 2024, this timepiece receives a luxurious upgrade, crafted from 950 platinum and adorned with an elegant ice blue dial. The dial showcases a unique guilloche rice-grain motif, featuring a captivating three-dimensional, repeating geometric pattern. This intricate design extends from the small seconds counter at 6 o’clock, adding a touch of sophistication. Additionally, the minute track is encircled by a filet sauté with a crimped pattern, also featuring guilloche detailing.
Oyster Perpetual Deepsea
Rolex debuts a pioneering edition of the Oyster Perpetual Rolex Deepsea, marking its first appearance in 18 ct yellow gold. The diver’s watch showcases a 60-minute graduated Cerachrom bezel insert in blue ceramic and a blue lacquer dial with ‘DEEPSEA’ in powdered yellow. Notably, it incorporates a technical breakthrough: a ceramic compression ring within the Ringlock system. This Cerachrom ring, with its blue hue and circular satin finish, represents a new era in ceramic integration into watch cases. Its exceptional compression resistance enhances the watch’s waterproofness, reflecting Rolex’s commitment to underwater precision.
Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona
Rolex introduces two exclusive editions of the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona, distinguished by their contrasting natural mother-of-pearl dials decorated with eight diamonds and three Chromalight hour markers. Crafted in 18 ct white gold, both watches feature a bezel set with 36 brilliant-cut diamonds. One version, paired with an Oysterflex bracelet, showcases a white mother-of-pearl dial with black mother-of-pearl chronograph counters. The other model, complemented by an Oyster bracelet, showcases a black mother-of-pearl dial with white mother-of-pearl counters. Meticulously positioned dial and counter disks offer color intensity and contrast, demanding a specialized manufacturing process.
Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller
Rolex is presenting two fresh 18ct gold editions of the Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller, each sporting a Jubilee bracelet, a first for this traveler’s essential. Crafted in 18 ct Everose gold, the first version offers a slate dial, while the second, in 18 ct yellow gold, showcases an intense white dial. Both Jubilee bracelets feature an Oysterclasp, a nod to the Sky-Dweller’s classic design. Plus, like most Rolex bracelets in precious metals, they’re outfitted with ceramic inserts for added durability and style. With these new additions, Rolex continues to blend luxury with practicality, perfect for those with a passion for both style and function.
