Aston Martin Debuts A Contemporary Light Sculpture Of The New Vanquish Supercar

The Vanquish unlike you've ever seen before.

Aston Martin and artist Anthony James have teamed up to create Reflections of Speed, a massive light sculpture inspired by the newest Vanquish. Unveiled at Chateau Marmont during Frieze Los Angeles, the automotive art piece plays with light, glass, and geometry to capture the performance and luxury of Aston Martin's iconic V12 supercar. Known for his infinity light sculptures, James spent over a year crafting this 17-foot work at his LA studio using modern materials his deep appreciation for automotive design.

A Vanquish Supercar is enclosed in a geometric, transparent case with glowing lines, set against a dark background, creating an Aston Martin light sculpture.

James has often drawn inspiration from cars in past works of art, influenced by the motorsports and movie culture of the ‘70s and ‘80s. His work is all about depth and movement, making the Vanquish a perfect muse. The sculpture is perfectly positioned by the Chateau’s pool and creates vivid contrast between its futuristic glow and old Hollywood charm. Guests at the unveiling got an up-close look at how art and engineering intersect using the Aston Martin Vanquish as the centerpiece.

After its debut, Reflections of Speed will move onto the Petersen Automotive Museum before eventually being put up for sale. Proceeds of the future sale will go directly to the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund, supporting artists affected by recent wildfires. It’s a fitting next chapter for a piece that’s all about movement and transformation. Whether you’re into cars, contemporary art, or just cool visuals, this collaboration is a reminder of how art tells a story.
