Caterham, a cult-favorite name in the automotive world, is known for its ultra-lightweight, racing-focused vehicles that combine agility and precision with compelling power and motorsport heritage. Now, a new digital arena has become available for enthusiasts to experience Caterham cars, as the brand has made its debut on iRacing.
One of the most regarded sim-racing platforms, iRacing boasts partnerships with some of the world’s premier racing organizations and aims to recreate real-world motorsport action as faithfully as possible. As part of iRacing’s ‘Season 4’ upgrade, the Caterham Seven Academy race car and the Seven 420R race car have become available for fans to experience on the racing simulation.
The two Caterham Seven models were developed within iRacing using real race data, contributing to iRacing replicating the driving dynamics and feel of the pair of cars with incredible realism. Both cars were also 3D scanned to bring them to the digital world with impeccable accuracy and quality, and real-world audio recordings from pre-season testing were also used to bring the cars to iRacing. Racing drivers currently competing with Caterham cars tested and approved the iRacing versions of the cars to validate their accuracy as well.

We know that iRacers will have a great time getting familiar with these unique, lightweight, driver-focused cars while enjoying the challenge of progressing up the virtual ladder, just as they would in real-world Caterham Motorsport. This has been an exciting partnership for us that adds a totally new angle to our road racing series on sim, and we’re excited to see what our players think of both cars!”
Players can purchase both the Caterham Seven 420R and the Caterham Seven Academy race car from the iRacing store, with a single in-game bundle purchase for the pair. The Seven Academy car is powered by a 1.3-liter Horse Technologies turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 130 horsepower. With road-legal status, the Academy car is made to be race-ready. Meanwhile, the track-only 402R boasts a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated Ford Duratec engine with 180 horsepower. It features slick tires, a six-speed sequential gearbox, and motorsport tuning. Both cars are made to deliver racing excitement and motorsport precision, and for iRacing players, they’ve come to life in the simulation world.
