Defender is one of the most respected and long-standing names in the world of off-roading, and the manufacturer has just unveiled the new Defender Wolf Series II, a new generation of Defender’s military-spec light mobility vehicle. It’s based on Defender’s D7X monocoque and is the first military vehicle from Defender since the first Defender Wolf, which served the British Armed Forces for over 70 years.

Competing for the Ministry of Defense Light Mobility Vehicle tender, the Defender Wolf Series II comes alongside a new Defender Defense Division, created by JLR to support other defense organizations. However, the modern Defender has already been proven in practice with its existing Defender Expert portfolio, serving emergency organizations like police, military, and fire departments globally, excelling especially in tough environments.

The Defender Wolf II will feature four variants: a tactical mobility vehicle, a general mobility vehicle, an ambulance, and a utility vehicle, all due to be unveiled at the British Army DVD 2026 event, taking place at Millbrook proving ground in Bedfordshire, UK, from September 16-17.

About the new Defender Wolf Series II, Patrick McGillycuddy, Managing Director for Defender, commented, “Our Defender Wolf Series II has been tested to the extreme and is highly suited to military light mobility purposes. Defender already demonstrates its versatility in tough roles for emergency organisations around the world such as border force, mountain rescue, police and fire.”

With a burgeoning lineup of production luxury off-roaders, recent success at Dakar and in the W2RC, and a longstanding legacy of off-road capability, the new Defender Wolf Series II aims to define a new generation of military-grade vehicles.
