2016 Dodge Viper ACR Extreme For Sale

We would like to think automakers build cars that people want to own, but sometimes it seems their priorities become misguided. Fiat-Chrysler is betting the farm with the return of Alfa-Romeo and the expansion of Maserati. As these new models arrive, they have bid farewell to the Dodge Viper. What began in 1988 as a project headed by Carroll Shelby and Lee Iacocca has been a venomous V10  American Supercar. The Gen 5 Dodge Viper can be a comfortable cruiser or a track-day bruiser. The transformation from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde is easy, just dial up the suspension and relax the stability control. The Viper has been and will remain one of the street & track cars for sale. Also Check Out: Dodge Viper Ends Production August 31stEngineers at SRT along with the assembly line workers want to make sure the Viper goes out on top, so the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR Extreme Aero is the ultimate example. It has dive planes on the nose, fender vents, heat extractors, and the largest production rear wing. This car was ordered with every possible option, including bezels for all four brake ducts, carbon fiber x-brace, red seat belts and a lightweight Li-ion battery. Other ready-to-race parts include a differential cooler, 10-way adjustable shocks, 5-mode stability control and carbon ceramic brakes. Viper has never offered an automatic transmission, and the beefy six-speed manual has triple-cone synchros for years of smooth shifting. Power adjustable pedals make for a perfect seating position, and visibility is better than almost every competitor since the rear spoiler is above your line of sight. These final few Vipers offer no apologies. They will make America question why crossovers and family haulers are everywhere. If you can handle 645 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque, click on the link below and give this snake a proper home. 2016 Viper ACR Extreme For Sale

The Dodge Viper Dies on August 31, 2017

Well, we knew it was going to happen soon, but now we have a date. On August 31, 2017, the Conner Assembly Plant will close says ClickOnDetroit.com. Along with the plant's closure, the production of the Viper SRT & GTS and V10 engine will cease. As of right now, 87 employees are currently employed at the Conner Assembly Plant. Fortunately, FCA will reportedly be offering the employees positions at other locations.I first reported that the Viper could be facing an end to its production come 2017 all the way back on October 23, 2015. Since 1992, the Conner Assembly Plant has produced over 30,000 Vipers. In 2012, Dodge reintroduced the Viper back into the SRT lineup with the model that is currently being produced. Since the beginning of 2016, Dodge has introduced limited edition Viper models for the final year, reopened ordering for the model and even had the largest group delivery of Vipers, ever. It's been a roller coaster, but it will all come to an end on August 31.

General Lee Tribute 2,300HP Twin Turbo Viper

One of the most impressive cars at last weekend's pump gas Invitational was a bright orange Dodge Viper. The paint (which is GM Code 70) looks best with a flag on the roof, but the stars and bars are no longer politically correct..So the team at Calvo Motorsports endowed their snake with the flag of the Republic of Texas. Waylon Jennings would be shocked at the speeds achieved on 93 octane, because "that's just a little bit more than the law will allow". As we saw yesterday, the key to making massive power on pump gas is cooling the intake. The team at 1320Video was at the Caddo Mills airfield to witness the event, so watch these hot cars make racing cool again.Air to water intercoolers are much more effective than traditional air to air examples, but they require plumbing the cooling circuit along with pumps and storage tanks. But the main ingredient is solid H2O. For the qualifying and shakedown runs, the Calvo team went through 560 lbs of ice. Each run requires 65 lbs to keep the engine from detonating. On the 93 octane tune, the 2,300 horsepower beast was limited to only 1,607 horsepower at the wheels. It may have a license plate and registration, but if your car needs four times as much ice as fuel, you might want to consider moving to colder latitudes.Congrats to Calvo for consistent times, and stay with us for more top speed action.

1300 HP Twin Turbo Dodge Viper on Pump Gas

Making incredible horsepower is a nice achievement, and making it on a pump gas pre-owned Dodge Viper is simply shocking. Many people view race fuel as the dividing line between street and track, and there is a good reason why. In the days before wideband oxygen sensors and computer controlled ignition, it took high octane fuels to prevent engine damage when making big power. But innovation never sleeps, so the big manufacturers have learned how to make big power on pump gas. Here in Florida, 93 octane has 10% ethanol mixed in. This allows turbo and supercharged owners make more than factory power with just a little work. But in other states, 93 is harder to come by, which has made racers to adopt new ways of making power from pump gas. Also Check Out: Largest Viper Delivery Of All TimeThe main problem is how to overcome detonation, or "pinging". This problem results from gas being burned before the spark plug fires. In 1921, GM's research division solved the problem by adding lead to regular gas to create "Ethyl", but that's a story for another day. The best way to prevent spark knock is to cool the intake air before it reaches the fuel injectors. Normally this is done thru intercoolers, but recent production cars have been using closed-loop heat exchangers inside the supercharger. To see this concept to its fruition, racers are building their own exchanger tanks which are filled with ice before the race. It is impractical for a daily driver, but for those who don't want to spend big money on race fuel, ice is an affordable way to go. That is what 1320video filmed over the weekend with a wild Viper built by Nth Moto. Tell us what fuel you prefer, and stay with us for more wild footage from 1320video.

Largest Group Delivery of Dodge Vipers, Ever

While we are all saddened about the discontinuation of the Dodge Viper, we at least have this bit of exciting news to cheer us up. Josh Hway of Dynamic Photowerks recently joined a group of local Viper as they journeyed to Detroit to pick up their new Viper ACR Extremes. This delivery of six Viper ACR Extremes was, according to Hway, the largest group buy in the car's history, as well as the largest group factory delivery ever for the car. While the Dodge Viper price starts at around $87,896, the ACR Extreme has a base price that starts around $125,000. This means this entire delivery costed over $759,000, because when you take into account the special options (like that gorgeous purple), the price goes way up.Also Check Out - Dodge Viper ACR: Track Day Superstar"I was honored to go along with this wonderful group and to tour the factory where these track legends are made. After we arrived back in Minnesota, I had enough time to reflect on the experience and realized how much of a honor it was," said Hway on his blog post regarding the delivery. "It may seem silly to “non-car people” that we speak of cars with such romance, but knowing that the days are numbered for the Viper is incredibly sad. The people and effort that goes into making a car is monumental, let alone a high-performance sports car which over the years has broken dozens of records. On the track and the street, the echoes of the thundering V10 will be remembered for decades to come."Check out his photos below of the delivery and see just how memorable this experience truly was. Dodge Viper ACR Beats 13 Track Time Records for Productio...

For more than two decades, the Viper has held a spot at the top of America's most powerful production cars, capable of taking on almost any other car on the track. With each iteration, the model has become more powerful and faster, and in its latest form, it's not just one of the fastest production cars in America - it's one of the fastest in the world. In a series of tests, the new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR broke 13 separate track time records. As a YouTube video and press release both shared Nov. 3 tell us, it holds the most records of any production car in the world. With recent discussions confirming the closure of Dodge's Connor Avenue Assembly Plant in 2017, where the Viper is crafted by hand, it's feared that the Viper's reign may be coming to end. But with records like these, Dodge would be remiss to bring its production to a total stop. The 2016 Dodge ACR offers 645 hp and 600 lb-ft from its naturally aspirated V10, enough to push it to a top speed of 177 mph. It's a street legal car capable of being a weekend racer, and it'll take down nearly any other car at the track. The Sports Car Club of America has certified the Viper ACR as holding the most lap records of any production car in the world.“We expected our new Viper ACR to be the fastest street-legal Viper track car ever," described Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands - Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and Fiat, FCA - North America, in the release. "Now we know without a doubt that it is.” The 13 tracks visited were all across the United States, and the times for each are as follows:Laguna Seca - 2.24 miles in 1:28.65 Road Atlanta - 2.54 miles in 1:26.54 Waterford Hills - 1.42 miles in 1:10.89 Nelson Ledges - 2.00 miles in 1:06.21 Motown Mile - 1.10 miles in 0:51.17 GingerMan Raceway - 2.14 miles in 1:31.91 Pittsburgh International Race Complex - 1.53 miles in 0:58.37 Grattan Raceway - 2.00 miles in 1.22.09 Virginia International Raceway - 4.20 miles in 2:40.02 Willow Springs Raceway - 2.50 miles in 1:21.24 Motorsport Ranch - 1.70 miles in 1:16.98 Buttonwillow Raceway Park - 2.68 miles in 1:47.70 Inde Motorsports Ranch - 2.20 miles in 1:33.75Check out the video and photos of this record-holding racer, then find your own Viper from our exclusive listings.Vipers For Sale Gallery (via FCA, YouTube) See More Dodge News

2016 Viper ACR Review & Test Drive from Autoblog

Our friends at Autoblog got their hands on the new 2016 Viper ACR and became properly acquainted with the new car at the Virginia International Raceway. In a review posted July 17, you can vicariously experience Dodge’s latest slithery supercar without dropping $121,990.  It may be the least civilized car on the market, but with 645 hp and 600 lb-ft, its 8.4-liter V10 takes no prisoners and has no provision for an automatic transmission. Devoid of all creature comforts except air conditioning, the Viper ACR is a tire murderer dressed in carbon fiber. Images of the car were posted to their Facebook page one July 17 and can be found below. Its top speed was listed at 177 mph when introduced May 8, and when it hits that speed, the downforce created reaches nearly a ton. Of course, the brakes required an intense upgrade to stop that much power - new Brembo Carbon Ceramic Matrix brakes make use of the largest brake pad area ever seen on a Viper. They are built by hand, so the initial production models will sell for a premium. Take a look at our inventory of Vipers for sale, and stay tuned to Autofluence for more Dodge and Viper news.Vipers For SaleGallery (Source: Autoblog, Dodge) See More Dodge News
