My Time At Monterey Car Week: A First-Timer's Perspective

Having worked at duPont REGISTRY for over a decade, I’ve heard my fair share of tales about Monterey Car Week (MCW) from coworkers. From the absurd number of seven-figure cars to the idyllic weather and even the wild parties, I’d heard it all. Yet, I had never experienced it for myself. For the 2025 edition of MCW, I decided it was time to pack a bag, slip on a pair of loafers, and attend what many consider the best week in the automotive world. It all started on Wednesday when I took a 7 a.m. flight from Tampa to San Francisco to catch a connecting flight to Monterey. Was this ideal? Not really, but that was the itinerary. Once I landed in Monterey and stepped outside, I was greeted by the gorgeous climate I’d always heard about. Coming from Florida, the cool air was more than welcome during the summer. Immediately, we hopped in a rental car and took off for the house where the entire team would be staying. Along the way, I started to understand just how absurd MCW really is. Everywhere I looked, there was a Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and even a Koenigsegg or Czinger. And I can't begin to tell you how many BMW M3 Lightweights we saw. I’m serious when I say you can’t take a single trip around Monterey during this week without seeing multiple cars valued at over $1 million. The absurdity of the week was driven home even harder when we got wind of a meet-up at, of all places, a CVS parking lot. When we pulled in, there were rows of hypercars, supercars, classic cars, and more, all parked in this giant public lot for everyone to see. It didn’t seem like a planned event by any means, more like an impromptu gathering of some of the rarest cars I had ever seen. After taking in the meet-up, we moseyed over to the Issimi House, where I had the chance to get up close and personal with three of Eccentrica’s creations: Titano, Green Dragon, and Rose Phoenix. Each honors the legendary Lamborghini Diablo by reimagining the supercar for a modern era with a laundry list of updates. Every example was completely unique, with varying interiors and exteriors, showing off Eccentrica’s ability to meet their clients’ desires. From there, it was time to hit up Motorlux, a massive hangar party at the Monterey Jet Center filled with food, drinks, cars, planes, and even the Broad Arrow Auctions. I didn’t bring my camera, which turned out to be a smart decision since the fog drip would've caused issues. Roaming the event, I was treated to tastings from more than 27 local and renowned chefs, each dish as delectable as the next. While snacking, I sampled local wines and spirits, checked out cars rolling toward the auction block, and caught up with friends. If you’ve never been to this event, do yourself a favor and stop by—even for just a moment. It’s like multiple events rolled into one, with something for everyone. Thursday began with a trip to Pebble Beach Concours Village to pick up my press pass for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Open earlier in the week, the Village gives visitors a chance to check out displays from major manufacturers like Cadillac and Mercedes-Maybach, shop with vendors, and more. That morning, USSV unveiled its Truck-MAD concept based on the Ford Lightning. Shiro Nakamura, the artistic mind behind the Nissan GT-R, designed this striking concept with guidance from Italian designer Luciano D'Ambrosio. Both the interior and exterior design of the Truck-MAD concept are a departure from the militaristic designs we've seen from USSV, leaning more into a "cyberpunk" and futuristic flair. One feature that stands out is the seating configuration that has a center-positioned driver with standalone seats flanking each side, which are then followed by a bench seat. In front of the driver is a large digital display that rests behind a yoke-style steering wheel, rounding out the ultramodern design. After snapping photos of the concept, the team and I headed to the Bonhams preview to peruse the auction lots. Right when I stepped into the preview tent, I laid eyes on a Bugatti Divo, Chiron Super Sport, Chiron Pur Sport, Pagani Huayra Roadster, Huayra R, Koenigsegg Regera, and Apollo IE. Was I starstruck? Absolutely. Out in the field behind the tent were even more incredible cars, including my personal dream machine: a 1985 Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2. At this point, I was really starting to love MCW, as I’d already seen more of my dream cars in two days than I had in my entire life. Sure, I don’t get out much, but I don’t think anyone would argue with me when I say that if you have a dream car, there’s almost a guaranteed chance you’ll see it during this week. While most of the events and gatherings I’d attended so far were upscale, it was time to dust off the boots and head out to Sportscar Vacationland. Dropping the address into my GPS, I was surprised to find myself driving into the middle of nowhere. I even triple-checked to make sure I hadn’t made a mistake. I hadn’t. Nestled in the mountains at Tira Nanza Winery, Sportscar Vacationland was remote—so much so that the road in had me white-knuckling the steering wheel of my rental Chevy Trailblazer while overlooking steep drop-offs on hairpin turns. Later, I learned there were two roads into the event and, of course, I’d taken the “slightly more terrifying” one. Still, I persisted, and I’m so glad I did. Classic Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW models lined the dirt roads leading up to the main event area, where even more incredible vehicles were stationed. Among the cars were unique activities: painting a Porsche with a squirt gun, art displays, a film festival, and so much more. There was a campground where attendees could stay for the week without worrying about the sky-high cost of lodging during MCW. What struck me most was that this event catered to everyone who loves cars—whether they own them, build them, drive them, or just appreciate them. It was refreshing to see an event where things could get messy, where it didn’t matter if a BMW had 200,000 miles and plenty of wear, and where everyone genuinely enjoyed each other’s company and loved talking shop. This is an event I truly think everyone should attend, and I’m rooting for it to be even bigger next year. (And yes, I took the easier road out—and it was a piece of cake, even at night.) After a long Thursday, Friday promised to be just as packed. It began at Werks Reunion, where Porsches of every kind were displayed across the Monterey Pines Golf Course. If you’re a Porsche fan—and who isn’t—this is a must-attend event. Cars were organized by time period, model, and generation. I may not know every detail that makes a Porsche rare or special, but I knew enough to be completely blown away. I took a couple of laps around the event to ensure I didn't miss anything, as there was so much to see. Also, the food selection was great, and if they have the empanadas again next year, I will order a dozen of them for the whole team. One aspect of the Werks Reunion that I found most delightful was that it was a free event. In a sea of events that had high-dollar tickets, it was nice to see one that welcomed all, especially those with an affinity for everything Porsche-related. Again, if you have any love for Porsches at all, and I know most of you do, you have to stop by this event. From there, it was on to Laguna Seca for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. I’d never been to Laguna Seca, so just seeing the track was exciting. But watching historic cars race on it? Pure magic. The sounds alone were euphoric. I walked in just as the Scott Pruett Legends of Endurance Cup was underway, with cars like a 2006 Porsche Riley Daytona Prototype MK X1, a 1997 Panoz GTR, and several Porsche 993 RSRs on track. Asking how to get to the Corkscrew, our editor, Tyler Rampersaud, and I learned we had quite the hike ahead of us. The climb was brutal—videos don’t do the elevation justice—but the view was worth every calf cramp. Watching historic race cars plunge down the Corkscrew was a bucket-list experience that had me grinning nonstop. Back down in the pits, I wandered among even more incredible race cars being prepped for their runs. Before leaving, I picked up a souvenir hat, which I’m actually wearing as I type this. That evening, BRABUS hosted a special party with world premieres of some of their most jaw-dropping builds: the ROCKET GTC DEEP RED Roadster, the 700 Rolls-Royce Cullinan, the ROCKET GTS MEAN GREEN, and the 800 DEEP RED. It was also the first time I’d seen one of their marine offerings—the Shadow 1000 Cross Cabin Phantom Gray Signature Edition. The standout detail? The tinted carbon fiber finishes. BRABUS cars are usually menacing in all-black, but the red and green-tinted carbon fiber was simply “chef’s kiss.” For once, I managed to get some decent sleep, which was a blessing because Saturday was packed. First, our lifestyle editor Jordan Aquistapace and I took the Rolls-Royce Spectre Black Badge out to 17-Mile Drive for some photos. One thing I realized early on about this area of California, and apparently the state in general, is that fog is inevitable. Still, the photos of the Spectre up against the sea fog turned out great. What the pictures can't show you is just how comfortable and quick this ultra-luxury ride is. When Jordan pressed on the accelerator, the electric powertrain came to life, launching the large grand tourer in an instant with virtually no road noise seeping into the cabin. And no matter the bumps in the road, which there are plenty of in Monterey, the ride was as smooth as butter thanks to the suspension that Rolls-Royce describes as an 'orchestra of systems.' Also, I should just point out that the spec of the Spectre Black Badge that was provided to us was impeccable. The sleek Monteverde exterior over the Peony Pink interior with black accents and even Dark Chrome Spirit of Ecstasy combined for an elegant appearance. Inside, this Spectre was also optioned with the Shooting Star Headliner and Starlight Doors, which made for a stunning spectacle to witness during the night hours. Everyone always talks about how Rolls-Royce vehicles are the epitome of luxury, but sometimes you forget just how true this statement is. Once in a while, you need a reminder by sitting in a massaging seat with shooting stars flying over your head, while your feet rest in lambswool floormats, and the only sound you can hear is what you choose to listen to on the SPIRIT infotainment center. After the photoshoot, it was time for Exotics on Broadway, where duPont REGISTRY had a booth featuring an Earthroamer LTx, an AEV-upfitted Jeep Wrangler, a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, the Metris Virtus by Fari Cars, and a Gunther Werks Speedster provided by XPEL. Roaming the event, I was struck by how sprawling it was—and how packed. Major manufacturers like McLaren, Koenigsegg, SSC, and Czinger were there. I even snapped a photo of Christian von Koenigsegg pulling up in a CC580, followed by a parade of his creations. After a long day at our booth, I rushed back to change and head to the RM Sotheby’s auction at the Portola Hotel & Spa. My coworker Dylan and I knew the one-off Ferrari Daytona SP3 was about to cross the block. We literally ran, streaming the auction on our phones as the bidding skyrocketed. By the time we arrived, the hammer had dropped at $26 million, all for charity. While it stung to miss that, I still witnessed some incredible sales: a 1989 RUF CTR1 “Yellowbird” Lightweight, a 1995 Ferrari F50that was ordered new by Ralph Lauren, and a 1993 Ferrari F40 LM by Michelotto. If you ever have the chance to attend an RM Sotheby’s auction during MCW, don’t hesitate. The atmosphere is electric—equal parts history, theater, and spectacle. The night wasn’t over yet. I headed to the Czinger party, where the record-breaking 21C was displayed under the California stars. Guests sipped themed cocktails like “Blackbird” and “21C” (delicious, by the way), and the Czinger family mingled with attendees. It was another unforgettable event in a week that just kept delivering. Sunday brought the grand finale: the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. I threw on my best linen shirt and made my way to the 18th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Links, where hundreds of the world’s finest cars awaited. My jaw practically hit the ground. The scenery alone was stunning, but combined with the history and craftsmanship of the cars, it was overwhelming. I wandered through the displays, stopping first at the featured Invicta class. I’ll admit—I’d never seen an Invicta before. But that’s the beauty of Pebble Beach: it’s as much about learning as it is about admiring. Enthusiasts and caretakers were eager to share knowledge, and even listening to the judges was a treat. Their encyclopedic understanding of the smallest details was astonishing. Finally, it was time for awards. Cars rolled up to the stage in formation, with the judges and emcee presenting each trophy. The ultimate honor, Best of Show for the 74th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, went to the 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C Nieuport-Astra Torpedo shown by Penny and Lee Anderson Sr. of Naples, Florida. After more than 12,000 hours of restoration by RM Auto Restoration, the car was a deserving winner. Hats off to the owners and restorers. And just like that, the week was over. I was drained but fulfilled, having checked off more bucket-list moments than I ever thought possible. I even managed only an hour of sleep before an early flight back to Tampa. Now, looking back, I’m grateful to everyone who made it possible for me to experience Monterey Car Week. If it’s not already on your bucket list, it should be. You’ll see your dream cars around every corner, meet fellow enthusiasts, and attend events that are out of this world. Everyone works to make this week unforgettable, and it shows. To say MCW is special would be an understatement—it’s a one-of-a-kind experience that transcends the automotive world and feels almost unbelievable.

USSV’s Futuristic Truck-MAD Debut Turns Heads at Pebble B...

USSV makes it mark at Pebble Beach. Pebble Beach is usually all about high-dollar vintage Ferraris, Bugattis, and the occasional futuristic concept, but this year something totally different stole the spotlight at Concours Village: an all-new electric pickup named the Truck-MAD. Built by US Specialty Vehicles (USSV) with help from Los Angeles-based design studio IAT, it redefines the future of electric trucks. With roots in armored luxury SUVs, USSV took that same larger-than-life DNA and incorporated it into something that looks part spacecraft, part utility 4x4, and fully capable. And when you learn it was designed by none other than Shiro Nakamura, the guy who gave us the Nissan GT-R, and debuted with guidance from Italian designer Luciano D'Ambrosio, it makes sense why it turned so many heads throughout the week. USSV has always specialized in building trucks and SUVs that stand out from the usual crowd, like its G. Patton series, which evolved from the old Rhino lineup. But the Truck-MAD feels like a clean break into new territory. Instead of just updating existing platforms, this one feels like a futuristic EV pickup that can transform from overlanding to road-worthy effortlessly. The details make it even more interesting. The front sports a sharp piano black finish, the rear fades to matte white, and a lemon-yellow interior looks more like a concept lounge than a pickup cab. D'Ambrosio, who's penned plenty of striking concepts in his career, walked visitors through the design, pointing out how it's meant to be versatile. The modular rear setup can bolt on camping pods, tool modules, or even a mobile power station. Its purpose is to adapt, whether that's a weekend in the desert or serving as backup power during an emergency. Of course, it wouldn't be Pebble Beach without a sneak peek at the future of production. USSV says limited pilot runs will start in 2027, with about 1,000 units a year, which makes it rarer than mass-market rivals like the Cybertruck or F-150 Lightning. On a lawn filled with priceless classics and futuristic dream cars, it stood its ground. And if Pebble Beach is where the automotive world comes to test bold ideas, then Truck-MAD passed the test by proving that even an electric pickup can command the same kind of double takes as the exotics. Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Moves to an Earlier Date...

For decades, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has been held on the third Sunday in August. That changes in 2028 as organizers confirmed that the Concours will move forward by one week, landing on the second Sunday in August. Concours Chairman, Sandra Button, explained that the decision was driven by families who found it difficult to attend as schools across the nation continue to start earlier each August. “Parents want to share their love of cars with their kids, and we want to make that more possible. When we look at the calendars for Pebble Beach, for other Concours, and for other local large events, a simple move forward by one week lessens the conflict for many.” - Sandra Button, Concours Chairman. Button also added that requests for an earlier date were steady and persistent from entrants, judges, volunteers, and spectators alike. This shift has broader implications as Pebble Beach sets the pace for Monterey Car Week. As we saw at an action-packed week this year, several Concours events, charity rallies, and auction houses time their schedules around it. RM Sotheby’s, Gooding & Company, Broad Arrow, Mecum and Bonhams all cluster their events around Concours weekend. That means you can expect some shifting of dates across the board. Key Dates to Note: Here’s what the Concours schedule looks like over the next five years: August 16, 2026 August 15, 2027 August 13, 2028 (the first year with the new date) August 12, 2029 August 11, 2030 Historically, the Concours has never been afraid of experimenting with its place on the calendar. The first show took place back in early November 1950. Organizers then tried spring and early summer slots as well, before weather pushed them around again in the late 1950s and early 1960s. In fact, rain forced a cancellation in 1960, which nudged the event back toward summer.  However, it wasn’t until 1967 that Pebble Beach finally settled into the fourth Sunday of August, and eventually moving to the third Sunday, a tradition that stuck through the ‘90s and beyond. That long history explains why this change is being treated with such care. The Concours is an institution with ripple effects across the collector car world. If you’re a regular at Car Week, take note: you should be aware that airlines don’t usually release fares more than a year out, but hotels in Carmel and Monterey often book up to two years in advance. Waiting too long will leave you scrambling, or worse, paying inflated last-minute rates. Businesses in Monterey, from restaurants to rental companies, also build staffing plans around the event, and sorting out the logistics. This announcement, coming three years in advance should give the industry enough time to make adjustments.  So whether you’re a collector, a spectator, or even just someone who enjoys walking the lawn at Pebble Beach, start planning earlier than you normally would. This move to the second Sunday may sound minor, but it changes the entire dynamic of Monterey Car Week. Monterey Motorsports Festival Recaps Successful Night Wit...

Between supercars doing donuts and the North American debut of a one-off masterpiece, Monterey Motorsports Festival was a success. Monterey Car Week is jam-packed with some of the most prestigious and anticipated events on the annual automotive calendar, and this year, the week was complemented by the Monterey Motorsports Festival, an event filled with exciting displays, an incredible unveiling, daring stunts, and music from world-renowned DJ Dillon Francis. Over 6,000 attendees came to see over 300 cars that were on display, with the event designed to be a high-energy, accessible event during Car Week. The festival included a Donut Island experience, where a twin-turbo Ferrari, Federico Sceriffo’s Formula DRIFT PRO Championship Ferrari 599 GTB, and other cars not normally seen doing things like donuts were shown off in a unique spectacle. Four live music acts participated in the event, headlined by platinum-selling DJ Dillon Francis, who played to a crowd of thousands in the Fairground Arena. In addition, the event served as the venue for the North American debut of the new Peralta S, a one-off supercar based on the Maserati MC20, penned by Fabrizio Giugiaro with GFG style, the design house formed by the legendary father-son duo consisting of Fabrizio Giugiaro and Giorgetto Giugiaro. With various award winning cars at the event, stunning displays, music, and automotive thrills, this year’s Monterey Car Week was even more exciting than years past, thanks to the Monterey Motorsports Festival, which lit up the Saturday night of Car Week with its buzz and adrenaline. Sportscar Vacationland: The Car Week Escape Off The Beate...

Overcrest Productions celebrates success with the debut of Sportscar Vacationland. Monterey Car Week is the kind of automotive spectacle that makes jaws drop, with multi-million-dollar collector cars, supercars, and hypercars filling the streets of California's northern peninsula. It's a dream for most gearheads who found their love for cars through Bugattis and Koenigseggs. But, for others with more modest tastes in cult classics like the classic Volkswagens and Porsches, the regular schedule of Concour-style events doesn't scratch the itch. That's where Sportscar Vacationland and Overcrest Productions stepped in, allowing enthusiasts to get behind an event that feels more like a hometown car meet than just car spotting from the sidelines. Set in the scenic mountains of Carmel Valley at Tira Nanza Winery, it transformed the way you picture an event during Monterey Car Week. Sportscar Vacationland leaned into that idea perfectly with an unconventional way to showcase and admire some of the other (attainable) dream cars that drove this lifelong love. More of an experience, it displayed curated cars like classic Porsche 911s and E30 BMW M3s with live art showcases, installation artists, food, drinks, and plenty of time to actually connect and chat with other like-minded gearheads. Whether you were admiring some of the iconic wheels in the Wheel Museum by WheelPrice, unleashing a paint-filled Super Soaker on a rally Porsche 944, or casually admiring the purple Lamborghini Diablo filled with flowers, it seemed as though there was a surprise around every corner. It made the conversations flow easier, the atmosphere more relaxed, and the cars feel like part of the story rather than just the centerpiece. One of the event's biggest highlights was the evening film screening, where Petrolicious set the stage with a collection of its favorite film features, including an all-new film with the iconic Lotec C1000. Sitting under the stars, surrounded by true enthusiasts and storytellers, was a throwback to simpler times when car culture was as much about gathering together as it was about pricetags and horsepower. Between the film, the art, and the curated mix of cars, Sportscar Vacationland delivered something refreshingly different from the fast-paced intensity of Monterey Car Week. By the end of the night, it was clear that Overcrest Productions struck a chord with Sportscar Vacationland, making it a must-attend event for future car weeks to come. For me, it was a reminder that while Monterey's glitz is definitely exciting, there's something equally memorable about a car event that's raw, creative, and community-driven. Sportscar Vacationland proved that sometimes the best part of Car Week happens just a little off the beaten path. Source: Overcrest Productions

Rolex Recaps An Unforgettable 2025 Monterey Car Week Expe...

A look back at all the memorable highlights of Monterey Car Week. For Rolex and its fuel-driven passion for all things automotive, the Monterey Peninsula proves to be the heartbeat of car culture every August, with a week-long celebration of events and shows. This year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2024 was no exception, welcoming collectors and enthusiasts from around the globe to commemorate rare classics, supercars, and everything in between. After days of anticipation, the spotlight finally landed on the 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C Nieuport-Astra Torpedo, crowned Best of Show on the famed 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links. The century-old coachbuild amazed crowds following a meticulous two-year restoration with its wooden coachwork and sporting character. Owners Penny and Lee Anderson were honored for their dedication with an engraved Rolex Perpetual 1908 as a fitting tribute from the watchmaker linked to this event for nearly three decades. Tom Kristensen, Rolex Testimonee The 2024 Concours welcomed 229 cars and nearly 20,000 spectators, making it a true spectacle of automotive heritage. The event emphasizes authenticity and innovation, echoed by Honorary Judge Tom Kristensen, nine-time Le Mans winner and Rolex Testimonee. He described elegance as a mix of prestige, authenticity, and style, qualities that defined the winning Hispano-Suiza. Yet Pebble Beach is only one highlight of Monterey Car Week. Just up the road, Laguna Seca roared with life during the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. From pre-war legends to endurance racers with long resumes, the racetrack became a rolling museum. Grand Marshal Jenson Button even jumped behind the wheel of a 1996 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT, reminding fans that these cars are meant to be driven, not just displayed. Friday welcomed The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, where Rolex marked 20 years as the Official Timepiece. Known for its exclusivity and relaxed California atmosphere, The Quail showcased everything from timeless classics to futuristic designs. This year, the spotlight fell on the ultra-rare 1996 Ferrari F50 GT1, which earned the Rolex Best of Show award. Its owner, Art Zafiropoulo, proudly accepted an engraved Oyster Perpetual Datejust 36, a watch that will forever tie him to the car’s celebrated moment. What makes The Quail so special is the way it balances nostalgia with innovation, a reminder that car culture is as much about passion as it is about the engineering behind it. The week wouldn’t be complete without the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance presented by Rolex, held along the dramatic Big Sur coastline. With 190 vintage cars making the 65-mile round trip across Bixby Bridge, it’s a chance for the public to see these rare cars in motion before they take center stage at the Concours. Since 2007, Rolex has sponsored the rally. As engines cooled and awards were handed out, Monterey Car Week 2025 once again proved why it’s considered the world’s greatest celebration of motoring. From the Hispano-Suiza’s victory to the roar of Laguna Seca, it was a week where history, innovation, and passion came together in perfect harmony. Source: Rolex

Inside SOC’s Monterey Debut: Convoys, Exclusives and Tour...

Supercar Owners Circle (SOC) made its U.S. debut at the 2025 Monterey Car Week this year. If you follow our coverage, you’ll know SOC is the most exclusive supercar community in the world, built around carefully curated membership and events that bring cars, travel, and lifestyle together in ways few organizations can match. Now part of the duPont REGISTRY Group, SOC’s Monterey presence on the West Coast of the United States was also a signal of intent, expanding its global footprint. This debut also tied directly into duPont REGISTRY’s strategy of bringing the rarest and most desirable cars, front and center. We saw this earlier in June this year, at SOC’s Andermatt gathering in Switzerland, where members took over the Alps with a spectacular convoy. In California, the private club gathered over 30 of the world’s rarest performance cars in a format that gave members something you rarely see at Car Week: real access and time behind the wheel. That’s right. Instead of showing up with just a static display, SOC staged a full-day event that also put these exotic cars on the road, creating an experience that went far beyond traditional concours culture.  The lineup of automobiles was simply staggering. You had the Ferrari F40 and F50 sharing space with the modern Daytona SP3 and Monza SP2 from the ‘Icona Series’, joining other high-end supercars like the Koenigsegg Regera, Czinger 21C, De Tomaso P72, Pagani Zonda S, Porsche 959, and so many more. Celebrity automotive YouTubers were also part of the convoy, whereas bespoke builds from Singer and Gunther Werks represented the Golden State’s rich restomod scene. The day kicked off with a private preview of the Touring Superleggera Veloce12 Barchetta at a Mediterranean-style villa in Carmel Meadows. We had an exclusive feature of this reveal, breaking down the car’s design and engineering, before its public debut. But for SOC members, this was an intimate first look at Touring’s latest creation, hosted in a setting that matched the car’s rarity, and unlike most Car Week debuts, which take place in front of cameras and press, here, attendees had the chance to closely interact with the designers and engineers. Next came the drive. Now, if you’ve ever done Highway 1 from Carmel to Big Sur. If you’ve ever tackled the Pacific Coast Highway in traffic, you know how rare uninterrupted stretches are. SOC’s convoy had a dedicated Police escort, which meant members could enjoy the scenic roads as intended. Things came to an end at 17-Mile Drive, where the cliffs and ocean views provided a spectacular backdrop for a private photo session. Later that evening, the cars rolled into Motorlux at the Monterey Jet Center, one of Car Week’s most glamorous gatherings. SOC had its own dedicated display space, parked up next to private jets. The bigger question is what this means for Car Week going forward. With SOC now under the duPont REGISTRY Group umbrella, expect to see more integration between exclusive member experiences and the larger luxury lifestyle ecosystem. Ferrari F50 GT1 Crowned Best of Show at The Quail, A Moto...

The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering returned for its 22nd year on the manicured lawns of The Quail Golf Club, where a 1996 Ferrari F50 GT1 claimed the coveted Best of Show title. Owned by noted collector Art Zafiropoulo, the F50 GT1 rose above a curated field of more than 200 entrants, recognized for its groundbreaking design, craftsmanship, and historical significance. The winning Ferrari was inducted into the Rolex Circle of Champions, a revered tradition honoring the pinnacle of automotive excellence. Zafiropoulo also received a specially engraved Oyster Perpetual Datejust 36, presented by Luca Bernasconi, president and CEO of Rolex USA. A Rare Ferrari Prototype The 1996 Ferrari F50 GT1 remains one of Maranello’s rarest and most extreme creations. Conceived to bring the F50 into GT1 racing, chassis number 001 is the only factory-assembled prototype. It features a 750-horsepower evolution of Ferrari’s 4.7-liter V12, integrated into a carbon-fiber monocoque with purposeful aerodynamics and Formula 1-grade race hardware. Though built for the international GT1 class, Ferrari ultimately shelved the program in 1997, leaving the prototype as the lone example. With its raw carbon bodywork, black Speedline wheels, and striking proportions, the F50 GT1 has become a holy grail among Ferrari enthusiasts. Other Award Highlights In addition to the Best of Show winner, The Quail recognized other exceptional vehicles: Spirit of The Quail – 1967 Shelby EXP500 Prototype Coupe, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Craig Jackson Hagerty Drivers Foundation Award – 1967 Sunbeam MK2, owned by Richard Thompson A full list of award winners can be found through The Quail’s official channels.
